Transformers Age of Extinction and Transformers The Last Knight leading man Mark Wahlberg is the latest guest announced for Hasbro’s new all-brands convention, Hascon 2017. Playing the part of inventor turned freedom fighter / illegal alien robot refugee camp operator Cade Yeager in both movies, Mark Wahlberg brings an older and more weathered leading man to the movies after the departure of Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky.
He will be appearing at Hascon 2017 on 9 September 2017 alongside other Transformers alumni including Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, best known as the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron, his fellow Transformers The Last Knight star Isabella Moner, live action movie series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, IDW artist Marcelo Matere (who has also drawn many excellent pieces of artwork for the toy packaging), IDW’s Chris Ryall, Hasbro Transformers design team manager John Warden, and Transformers music legend Stan Bush.

The TF dinner is on Saturday at 6:30 PM. It is listed right underneath the Flo Rida concert at 5:30 PM and is a $200 add-on. Here's the copy and paste of the description from the schedule page: "Celebrate 10 years of Transformers film magic at this special VIP event! Join celebrities and producers, including Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, from Transformers: The Last Knight as we look back at the magic moments from the franchise’s cinematic legacy. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will give a special introduction to the first ever HASCON Transformers Hall of Fame ceremony, with a special appearance from past inductee Yoke-san, famed toy designer from TakaraTomy, along with a special guest. The Transformers design and brand teams will offer a sneak preview of select 2018 toys and this special evening will be capped off by an exclusive live performance from Stan Bush. Dinner will be served. Plus, participate in a raffle for special prizes including signed posters from Mark Wahlberg, Transformers merchandise, and more. Each VIP attendee will receive a special Transformers Super Fan gift bag including a pre-signed autograph from Peter and Frank, Special Comic reprints for HASCON, and a VIP HASCON-exclusive pin set."

Well, they've now got the single and 3-day tix on Groupon for up to half off, so they're pulling out all the stops now! lol
Of course, just from the Groupon sales, it seems there will be at least a couple hundred people there….

HOLD UP.
This guy is 5'8'?! I'm like barely 5'7' … so I love this guy even more now
I've got nothing bad to say about this. HASCON pulling in him as a guest is a big deal. I realize right now our collector base is not primarily movie based, but that's changing quickly. All of 13 year olds from 2007 are growing up and want to see guests like this.
Angry Camaro
I stood next to him. I'm almost 6' so there was definitely a height difference but he's jacked.
Also, the Hasbro/TF Facebook post states Mark will be attending the VIP dinner. What is this??? It said to learn more on the site but I found nothing on this!
Dark Starscream
Being 5'9" myself, I would LOVE to stand next to him in a photograph and feel tall for once, because he's 5'8".

Rework! We miss you over at BT.
Rated X
I get it lol. All these young kids dont know about Marky Mark the east coast answer to Vanilla Ice.
ZapRowsdower
Yeah… my thoughts exactly. I just think… wow, part of contractual agreements with Paramount? I mean, the movie did poorly, so he's gotta be feeling some pressure to make appearances and plug the flick enough to hopefully make some decent home-release numbers (it won't).
I just feel that if TFs aren't really his thing, his presence there will be embarrassing. For the TF fan. Wahlberg seems like a cool dude – I wouldn't want to stand next to him and admit to being a TF nerd! (So, still not convinced to attend! )
This.
But when people BASH Botcon, they're really expressing their disappointment over certain toys, decisions, etc. They're not expressing a boycott at all. With Hascon? I don't see any enthusiasm to go at all. And I don't think it's a feint, in order to secure all the exclusives!
In the end, it doesn't matter, right? Hasbro will exaggerate the numbers and call the con a GREAT SUCCESS. And then you use photoshop to fill in empty rooms… the only chance of accurate attendee numbers is IF the TF fan sites report it. And they won't. Because TFW, Seibertron, etc. are not in the habit of antagonizing their master! (And by that, I mean that you don't say sh*t about a business partner!)
T-Hybrid
Woah we gotta badass here!
Not everyone will get this, but the right people will get this.

I'm sure they will actually get a pretty reasonable turnout.
This message board is NOT a good measuring stick. I watched Botcon get ripped to no end on this board year after year and we always had a great turnout.

They obviously meant: Not enough autotune.. Its hard listening to crappy 'non-digitally-enhanced' singers from the ancient time of our older siblings..
Dark Starscream
Really? How many Transformers fans do you know are going? Judging by the boards here and other sites, I haven't heard of anyone going to Hascon that doesn't conveniently live close to Rhode Island.
Hollywood Hoist
That's a significant guest. Maybe he'll do a duet with Stan Bush.
Angry Camaro
I sort of want to go but what is the real point? What will be going on there to do? Other than buying toys and attending what will probably be a one hour panel.
[Wing_Saber-X]
But yay- hopefully some POTP prototype toys will be shown and not just the crappy powerpoint slides..
Aimless Misfire
I only care about Combiner Wars/Titans Return/Power Of The Primes toys. I don't worship celebrities/athletes/musicians like the rest of our mindless zombie society/culture does. Piss on all those over paid D-bags.
stad
Yeah, it's not going to save this show, but it is a pretty good deal for them.
AutobotAvalanche
That's pretty neat. Wonder if he'll get involved with any of the other brands or just hang around the TF booth.
