On the eve of it’s release, Comic Book Resources has posted two profile previews for tomorrows release of the Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook #2. From the Transformers universe, we have the leader of the Earth Defense Command herself – Marissa Fairborne. Alongside her, we get a profile for M.A.S.K. character “Eclipse” aka Brad Turner.
As an added bonus, we also have a preview for issue #3 due out later this month. None of our Robots In Disguise are represented in the preview, but Phenolo-phi and Red Falcon from Micronauts as well as Roadblock, Quick-kick and Rock & Roll from G.I.Joe.
You can read the full preview for issue 2 here. You can check out the preview pages for issue 3 after the jump.

The amazing thing about the ignore list is watching people argue with posts that aren't even there.

No, it's like the same witer of the rebooted MASK comic being given freedom to reboot the Tf comics and renaming Optimus Prime "Battle Convoy" and Jazz as "Scatman". It wouldn't be correct.
No matter how you slice it, the poor attention to detail, incorrect names, etc were symptoms of the poor witing of the MASK reboot, and were straws on the camel's back as to why it was cancelled. Good riddance.
Danny-Boy
It's not incorrect. It's just different in this new continuity.
primalxconvoy
Ok, however, the codename is incorrect. It's meant to be Chopper, and the current one is based upon the wrong mask. My point regarding that is still valid. My second is that this is just more evidence why the MASK comics by IDW were not popular. Too many mistakes and errors.

The news thread contained a link to the Brad Turner bio, which in turn linked to here. Logical.
If the preview pages don't contain Transformers content, I believe they shouldn't be in a Transformers news site news page. Logical. If the main book does, then the site should concentrate on showing THAT content, as and when it becomes available. It's the same for anything. If HASCON had information regarding other toy franchises, I wouldn't expect to see an news entry for ONLY non-TF news regarding it. Simple, really. It's also why we don't see main news pages for Takara's Diaclone line, as they are not TFs per sec. Perfectly understandable.
As I've said, I have and will continue to give critique on this site, as is anyone's right.
RazorclawX
Just because the preview pages have nothing Transformer related on them doesn't mean the book itself isn't.
And that's beside the fact you don't get to pick what is newsworthy until you run the site.
This would explain why the whole Brad Turner thread in this topic made no sense.
Danny-Boy
1. I was referring to you not having read the new MASK comic, not the Sourcebook. Just in case you're wondering, I've read every issue of MASK.
2. Considering you're talking about Brad's Sourcebook entry, which is featured in the second issue, which HAS been released, I've also read that one as well.*
3. No, the Sourcebook did not use the "wrong codename" for Brad. He simply has a different one in the IDW continuity. In the old comics, his nickname was Chopper. In the new comics, his codename is Eclipse, after his Mask (which while visually based on Hocus-Pocus is called Eclipse in the new continuity.)
*Actually, why are you bringing up an entry from the second issue of the Sourcebook in a thread for the third issue preview?
primalxconvoy
I read the profile. Have you read the whole book it's from? No? Then, no pun intended, but we are on the same page for this discussion; namely the source book that is yet to come out.
As for codenames, I stand by my comment; this sourcebook uses the wrong one. The Wikis for MASK even state so. They could have, at a stretch, given him, or used the vehicle codename for him too. Instead they used the wrong mask name. Not the a great start.
Danny-Boy
Ah, primalxconvoy, it's good to see you back to once again complain about a MASK comic you didn't read. I mean, don't get me wrong, MASK is garbage, but this? Just the name of the Mask being different from the original? Seems a little pedantic if you ask me. Regardless, Hocus-Pocus is a stupid codename, and Eclipse works as the name of something that creates holograms. It's not as bad as what happened with Julio's Mask.
(Also, the nickname "Chopper" was never used in the cartoon. That came from the comics.)
Yes, for as we all know, Transformers is the only successful thing to ever be made. This G.I. Joe thing? Imagine that ever being popular. Micronauts? That'll NEVER sell a comic.
primalxconvoy
What an ignorant comment. I never stated my decision, merely advice
Regardless, you don't get to decide what I write, either. If I don't like something, I will write my critique, as is my right.
you are welcome to dislike it, too, but I couldn't care less.
Megastar
They should update that site than merge which is just a silly statement. You don't get to decide what should be posted in the news here, if you don't like it than don't read it. Now i'm done with this conversation.
primalxconvoy
There must be some way to reconcile the old versions with the new to make a better MASK, right? All it takes is a good writer…
Cha Chi
Yes indeed, proper MASK or it didn't happen.
Perhaps the reason is hasbro has got too much on its plate with starwars and marvel movies to even bother making a thing of any of these old lines. They would be competing against themselves.
primalxconvoy
Then went not merge this site with its respective G1-Joe website? They're the save universe now, right?
Personally, this is only newsworthy for a Transformers site if actual Transformers are mentioned or included. Otherwise, it's a tenuous link, at best.
Megastar
Because it's part of a shard universe and Transformers are in enough comics, they don't need to be in everyone. This is also a preview showing only the character pages so knows if their in it.
primalxconvoy
Then why is it a news item at the main site?
Also, if the original MASK comic was cancelled, then I assume that MASK is only living on by bumming around, homeless style, in other franchises' comics? That's a bit of a sad state.
I would have LOVED Hasbro to have properly, with some care and attention, reboot MASK, Visionaries, etc, into a much bigger, united universe, but it seems that they ballsed it up, in a similar way that their attempt at a stable, coherent TF universe (via WFC, Prime and NU-RID) collapsed in on itself.
My interest in MASK re-ignited by these crossover comics, and the basic idea of Gi-Joe and MASK being linked, and VENOM being part of COBRA just seems logical (especially the mech-tech weaponised vehicles being cybertronian tech). I love how the EDC was born from the UN, which gives me a "UN Spacey" vibe. In fact, it would be GREAT if Jetfire's schematics somehow found their way into the EDC to found a faux, "Not Macross" in the comics… I would love to see all this amnd more, plus toys of these crossover ideas that were mainline (even as Headmasters, etc).
Can't Hasbro just reboot the reboot of MASK quickly and have characters closer to their originals in it? Do something silly like kill off the ones that are not the originas and then bring in the aspects of the originals that are present? Then, get the originals to replace the silly, ham-fisted reboot characters?
Megastar
This isn't a Transformers comic.
Heliblade
Look at all these characters who aren\'t Transformers. No wonder these comics aren\'t selling.
MGX
The MASK comic has been cancelled. I think #10 is the last issue.
I agree about Brad. The MASK comic pretty much made all new characters out of some of those old characters.
primalxconvoy
Why is Brad Turner's codename "Eclipse"? In the cartoon it was "Chopper", and the "Eclipse" mask is from another toy. In this story, he's wearing "Hocus Pocus". Why isn't he even linked to or connected to being a rock muscian, even tenously? It's like the GI-Joe character, "Rock and Roll" being renamed "Blues" and being re-written as a "Poet".
This new MASK comic sounds worse and worse the more I find out about it… I am so glad they got rid of the idiot that was the writer…
