Artist Furio Tedeschi shared on his Instagram Account a Transformers: The Last Knight – Knight Helmet Concept.
The image, titled “Hero Knight Helmet”, gives us a closer look at the head of one of the Cybertronian Knights we saw in the last Trasnformers movie, revealing all the detailed design and realism of the 3D model.
You can check the image after the jump, and then let us know your impressions at the 2005 Boards!

It's this knight from the crashed ship in Chicago but with face protection deployed.
And aside of good craftsmanship, this looks sort of silly.
Yes, Cybertronians can look like anything, except:
1 – This looks awfully like TMTN Shredder.
2 – Breathing holes on the helmet make little sense for an alien who does not need to breathe. Especially since because of them visors and front plates are the easiest to break parts of helmets and the only reason why breathing ports were there anyway is because humans sadly can't go without them… But Cybertronians don't breathe, so…
3 – Chainmail is a fairly low-tech form of armor that was kept around because for a very long time people found it easier and cheaper to work small pieces of iron instead of working larger plates. Why is a space alien using an armor that would be subpar to a plate made with their technology? Don't tell me movie TFs can't produce plate gorgets…
It's a beautifully crafted piece of art but conceptually it's anthropomorphisation gone wrong.

I dont really think this is steelbane because it looks completely different from the toy and the helmet is also very different

I feel something bad about some of the new concepts. Like they ignored some traditions and continuity Where is radiant eyes, fan-like eyelids? Where is Cybertronians hieroglyphs? Glad that he looked better on the screen. But such an ignorance from concept artists bother me… I feel like TLK is a reboot without actual reboot and it hurts me so much! New fantasy-like atmosphere, foreign conceptions from Aligned, changed personalities of heroes…
I, agree, I also have thought that the Movie was different in preproduction, but they started drastically change everything in post-production. Cutted off all space adventure replaced Creators with Quintessa, etc. That's why they haven't enough time to edit the Movie normally.

Glad we saved these. ILM removed all of the concepts from their website.

update: add more image..

That head design is sick! I see it looking no more "human" than Optimus. Drift and go too far. Hound I can probably accept because of how much more screen time has been used to develop the character. Ratchet and Ironhide is where the deaign looks best.

This. If anything it helps drives in the fact the theme that they're more then meets the eye and robots in disguise.
I don't think Movie Drift's a good example since well I've seen plenty of Samurai helmets and I never recall any of them having the same front crest as Movie Drift has. There's also the fact that certain elements of his head, body and helmet are pretty stylized and the way he places his swords aren't what Samurai usually display their swords. So if anything Drift's design is actually a more stylized version of a Samurai look. Like how the Dinobot's alt modes are somewhat stylized versions of the actual animals they're based upon.
Me too. At this point it's LONG overdue.

I remember an interview I read before AOE came out and it had some details about how important Lockdown's ship was going to be in the sequels. But we all know how that turned out.
Magneon Sentinel
You know, you're probably right.

This kinda funny.
In TF1, Cybertronian\'s can only transcanned vehicles.
Then suddenly they can transcanned human facial features aside from vehicles?
So they can transcanned Hitler\'s face and have a squared mustache?
My godness. Hell yeah. It\'s a… Copy… FREAKIN\' Paste alright
iceburn9
Couldn't have said it better myself. You hit the nail on the head !
Bumblebee, Optimus, Jolt, Sideswipe, Soundwave, Starscream, Brawl, etc, all had basic human forms too, but they had unique features that made them stand out as technologically-advanced, alien robots. They took inspiration from various things around us, but were modified into something else.
Agree that the latter designs we got are literally cut and paste jobs.
As illustrated, it seems that someone caught a Japanese samurai, dipped him in molten metal, and out came Drift. As for Hound, what are the chances that a military commander from Cybertron, a planet millions of light years away, would look like a typical American army general commonly portrayed in Hollywood movies?
Crosshairs? One wonders if he auditioned for the wrong franchise. He could have been a good Neo in the Matrix reboot. Lockdown is a Terminator rehash, Leadfoot is a beer-bellied Scotsman, while Daytrader looks like a Caribbean hippie.

As @SPLIT LIP said.. The whole point of Transformers is that they can be whatever the fuck they want.
deathzero23
Seriously, CYBERTRONIANS should NOT LOOK like EMULATING human faces.
We know they are aliens that are trying to FIT IN into human society.
BUT NOT to the point they have near human like faces.. I\'ll forgive some beard and mustache like Sentinel Prime.
But not to the point of Nazi\'s facial mustache (was it Bulldog?). It\'s beginning to be like a mockery or stereotyping.
If so, they should CHANGE Bumblebee\'s face as well and Optimus too. Emulate Peter Cullen\'s face.
They should have stick to the 1st movie\'s facial aesthetics.
ALIEN and SENTIENT-MECHANIZED life forms.
Bumblebee2000
A human face wouldn't look that out of place on those shoulders with that helmet

That knight kinda looks like he's gonna dine on Turtle Soup tonight.

The whole Knight motif is getting old…I like robots that look like they can actually turn into thing they turn into. You can tell they had to fudge Megatrons transformation in TLK…everything just disappeared behind him…I prefer Optimus Primes 1-3 and early 4 robot modes…..

I wonder if any of the people calling this guy "Steelbane" actually own the toy…
Gallade
Someone else pointed this out but Steelbane has the scar on his right eye. But, Lockdown has it on his left.
