Artist Furio Tedeschi continues to share concept art from the latest Transformers live action movie The Last Knight. Earlier we saw concept art for one of the Knights, and now we get a very surprising look at … Optimus Primal! Yes, Optimus Primal.
Admittedly we do not know just how far this concept made it during the development of The Last Knight, as the artist himself states:
Optimus Primal Concept for TF5 not sure if this landed up happening due to changes …really need to go see the movie before its off circuit.
The art however, is stunning. Given some of the characters and concepts that made it into the live action series, Optimus Primal really isn’t that farfetched.

I’d rather they be organic, that way when they transform blood and guts would sling all over the screen
I also assumed they didn’t know if he made the final cut or not because they were just paraphrasing what the artist said on Instagram… I assume they submit a lot of ideas early on and won’t ever know what gets used unless they see the movie (which I guess he hadn’t)

It's interesting that the artist didn't know if this made the final cut or not. That seems to imply this wasn't just some early rough idea, but something that made it pretty far along.
I'm really curious what kind of stuff was supposed to be in TLK. Its seems like a lot of ideas were cut short, or completely cut out. I really hope we end up hearing more about the behind the scenes at some point.

Now that's just prime.

I've honestly never cared about having a Beast Wars movie, but if it happened I'd want it to look just like this. I love how they combined Optimus' head with a gorilla, it surprisingly works.

Can a third party company turn this into an actual figure, please?

Now I really want a Beast Wars movie. This looks awesome!

Maybe they wanted to show this bot animals in Quintessa's laboratory or something as a reference to BW

It kind of reminds me of this.

The designs are probably the best things I've seen from these movies, but the scale to the little human is baffling. Also, no way Hasbro was gonna be able to turn that into a toy.

I wonder how many more of these there are?View attachment 27778448

Give me a toy of that! I'll buy any robot gorilla toy.

That art looked pretty cool. It would have been nice if Prime and Primal shared a scene, with Garry Chalk reprising his role.

please….. NEVER show that again!

I don't get the dude coming into the thread denouncing Beast Wars and the concept of it, only to follow up by saying he doesn't know anything about it.
Also, it's funny how any BW related thread seems to cut so deep with the crotchety TF fans that they feel they have to come in and whine and complain about how they think it sucks. Every. Single. Time. I can't help but picture a small child screaming, crying, and flailing all over the floor of the toy aisle every time I see it.
If you don't like it, that's okay.
But it is entirely possible to dislike something without having to bitch about it to the people who do like it, especially in their own removed discussions.
Try to remember:
We're talking about children's toys and their fiction. Their existence really shouldn't be all that offensive to you, especially as an adult.
ANYWAY
Cool concept art. Very interesting and unexpected.
But also, not unexpected?
From what I remember reading, the writers room had everything given to them from all the different series and stories to pick and choose from.
I assumed the Unicron/Earth concept was borrowed from Prime, and Cybertron having (what I assumed was) some sortof plant life was the from 'Organic Cybertron' concept in Beast Machines.
I'm sure there were other nods I missed.
Fasttrack
I know, crazy right?
But seriously, it's been like 5 years since I last saw the first movie, and even longer since I last saw ROTF and I don't think I ever got a Scorponok toy.
I remember most of the other Cybertronians that appear in the movies. but Scorpy just kinda slipped my mind

Wait…there are Transformers IN Transformers movies? But what about all of the forgettable human characters? I mean isn't that why audiences flock to see this movies?

Yeah, compared to the human, he's space ship sized!…..and still beautiful.
Grodd who?
Gonna have me a new wallpaper.
Not sure how they would have worked Primal into the mix anyway… but it would have dragged a few BW fans to the theaters! Bwhahahaha.

I don't even particularly like the visual stylization of Transformers in the movies, but this Optimus Primal is beautiful.
