The Hollywood Reporter is bringing us a detailed list of additional cast members who will be joining the leads Hailee Steinfeld and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. for the upcoming movie Bumblebee.
- Jason Drucker
- Abby Quinn
- Rachel Crow
- Ricardo Hoyos
- Gracie Dzienny
The film will clearly feature a slew of young rising stars: Drucker was most recently seen in Fox’s reboot Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. Hoyos starred on Degrassi: Next Class and also was seen in The Belko Experiment. Quinn starred opposite Jenny Slate in Gillian Robespierre’s Landline, which played at Sundance and hits theaters on July 21. Crow has appeared on the TV shows BrainSurge, Big Time Rush and Figure It Out and voiced Carla in the animated film Rio 2. Dzienny’s credits include TV series Zoo and Chasing Life.
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are producing along with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis. Bumblebee is slated for a June 8, 2018, release.

Stars have 0% of the drawing power they once did. It's one of the many things studios are having panic attacks over; nothing seems to be a sure fire bet or clear formula for success in this day and age. Critical reception and word of mouth seem to have a much larger role than ever before, movie stars ain't shit, and niche properties get huge budgets because they're the only things they're sure people will go see. We're FINALLY getting a Dark Tower movie because the climate is so radically different than it's ever been before

Critics loved that movie

Not exactly confidence inspiring lol

It can happen…. This movie happened under Bay's production. It's also a Hasbro movie.

Because that worked out so well for TMNT or the Platinum Dune horror movies.
Reeaaaally hoping that Travis Knight can hold up his own and deliver something special.

I wish these actors some good luck. They'll need it.

I think i know what you mean. I'm not into all that technical stuff normally, but with the behind the scenes stuff of TMNT 1 it was really cool to discover that there was a minimal of CGI and these were guys wearing a costume. And to have seen the finished film and have seen the natural look they acomplished that way.

A dream come true: To have them built a human-sized replica of the Ark, then watch as actors in motion capture gear walk around and talk with each other and then see the same scene, but with Transformers on big screen.
I like all those behinde the scenes footage and it would be a joy to see a Transformer, or a Transformer avatar to be exact, be included in some of them. Or for an actor to talk about their character what are they like or what is awaiting them. A lot like what they did with the live-action Jungle Book and the actors playing animals
I think I got a little carried away
Windsweeper II
You have a point. Even the voice is the only thing you'll get in the film, it might draw an audience. And that's what we need for the movies.
GirlBot
They woudn't, but neither did Ultron, Smaug, nor that droid from 'Rouge One' look like their actors. It has less to do with similarity than their presence on the set. Optimus Prime in pre-production, production and promotion is an abstract. You can't see him and he cannot give you an interview, but an actor can. Look at Andy Serkis or Alan Tudyk. It's something that so far has been exclusive only to human characters. Compare Mark Whalberg's presence on the set and during the promotion to Bumblebee's presence on the set. Did you see him interact or talk to anybody? Did anyone beside the director tell you about him? What he's like as a character? I would not mind a human stand-in during the production and seeing the character do something instead of guessing what is going on in the scene or whether a Transformer is there or not. Then watch it unfurl on the big screen
Windsweeper II
That's what was behind my reasoning, Yes.
But in truth we allready have that. John goodman is a big enough name to pull some viewers voicing Hound.
Having a celebrity actor play a character in costume, wouldn't really add something to the experience since the Transformer wouldn't acutally look anything like the actor.

Did we see the same movie where Harriet Tubman was part of a cabal of Merlin worshippers that kept the history of Transformers secret and the big villain of the movie was just not explained in anyway what so ever?
GirlBot
In an artificially created setting or a green box? Yes. In actual world locations? Nope, a 6ft human would not make a good impression of a 16ft tall robot. Besides, the Transformers are already motion-captured, but I can't tell to what degree.
Altthough, there is the case of Benedict Cumberbatch standing in for Smaug. He was motion captured along with the dialogue in a room and all that was later translated into a CGI dragon on screen. A reverse to what human-playing actors go through. However, I think that such direction would require exchanging voice actors for actors and could lenghten the production time. I don't think it would rise the production costs that much. Any thoughts?
Edit: It could also put a spotlight on Transformers characters or at least actors playing them. Regardless, it would make the audience more invested in a character since they know who is behind them. It's easy to treat Transformers as objects since you can't see them, but once you put a face to them they become a person. Plus you can tell who you are looking forward to and not just wait for the final product.

Bringing up a good point:
Wouldn't they be able to have human actors were suits in a similar way, with artists creating the TF's over the image and get a cgi transformation?
But i guess that would just make things more expensive and serve no real purpose.
Windsweeper II
They even got nobodies directing movies nowadays.
You just have to get on X factor and you can do anything you want
GirlBot
It's because these things are easier to track before actual filming.
So far we don't have any plot details. And Transformers are CGI-ed at later date so it's easier to hide (or dismiss) their presence, because they aren't physically present on the set. Until they release the concept art we will be stuck with alt modes only. I think it's one of tje reasons the Transformers are underused in the movies. The scenes including only Transformers would consist of landscape shots or fully CGI sequences. Picture a filming crew sitting in a meadow filming guys standing around with cardboard TF heads on long poles. Or a director directing the guy on the left to move a little to the right It's easy to loose perspective. In Apes they at least could film the actors playing apes in the apes' place.
FoolishDoomedCreature
Wow, you can predict the future!
And the problem is…?
Yeah, but the BB movie is not the only one. They've hired a nobody called Harrison Ford for a film called "Star Wars". Can you believe it? Sure that movie will flop if they keep hiring nobodies.
Windsweeper II
This is getting more than a little ridiculous now. We got nobody after nobody piling up, but still no TF names

STEVEN DAVIS??? Seriously, THIS IS a threat for Movie! He's My Little Pony producer!!!
Yes, that's why Marvel films are SO stupid
Thank you, dude!
