Yea, I'm throwing in the towel with trying to shop local retail. Distribution is getting worse with every new wave coming out and I'm wasting tons more money on driving than I would shipping. Despite all the screaming kids and rude employees who don't give a shit, I will miss retail once online shopping completely takes over. I tried.
Angry Camaro
We will never get the new waves in stock

They're fragging everywhere at all my local stores, along with broadside, and now skyshadow is starting to clog shelves.

That's how Titans Return is; why would the movie figures be any different?
I can go out to Target or Wal Mart and get Wave 1 & 2 deluxe. I'm beginning to think that Perceptor and Topspin are internet myths or hoaxes.
Prime135
Both of mine still do…and a hot rod display…aaaand it's still criminal that walmarts doing all this promo stuff with hot rod, yet I STILL have to pay $35 plus shipping from the chosen prime to actually GET a hot rod…

My Wally World had a huge Optimus display, but it didn't stay up for very long.

The lack of NEW toys is what gets me…
"COME SEE OUR STUFF OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT!!!!"
"What's that? You just saw these toys inside?"
"That's because we grabbed them from your store, I mean, because they're so awesome!"
Well, the toys have a better presence in Asia period. ALL THE TOYS. Because they're made there. So rather than wait 1-2 months for a cargo ship to drag everything over, they can get things almost instantly. That's gotta be a big reason why their premieres get better product. That, and obviously some poor planning on our side of the ocean (cause really, why couldn't you pre-manufacture AND pre-ship these in time for a movie premiere?).
As for the lack of domestic spending? No. Just no.
They spent MILLIONS in ads and promos for this movie. It's not millions OUTSIDE the USA. It's likely mostly in the USA (where there's more competition and a need to get audiences to come). Internationally? They can put a poster up and get hundreds of thousands to go. That's not to say they didn't spend more millions there… but my point is that you can't say TLK did poorly domestically because of a lack of advertising presence!
Unless you're just talking about how they're handling the toys? I'm pretty perplexed by that. Where are the giant displays? Why does TRU have a MASSIVE CAR3 display? Where's the TF one?
I think the Asian staff do a better job with the promo's and events, clearly. That's the best I can think of… AND, there's a general trend where Asian stuff is more grand, colorful, and creative. Americans get APPLE. Simple, cheap, stupid. That's the advertising ideal here…
So maybe a big part of the problem is that the American event planners are looking to make these things as cheap as possible (hence the photos above), while the Asian planners like things spicy and exciting!

So I'm guessing they didn't come bearing gifts of wave 2 figures?
bellpeppers
Probably should have

Did you ask in French?
Fallout
was expecting a lambo too. then again, not sure how long a lambo would last outside of a walmart…

Who said anything about the movie? He mentioned the walls being lined with toys, etc. We're not really running into that, here. Whether the movie tanks or not, the toys will still get produced and be sold. Just not here, for a good long while, it seems.
EDIT: Let me rephrase… He mentioned the film's "grand" midnight openings, but that was the extent of it. The main point of his post was about the toys.

I too, was expecting/hoping for a Lambo.
That, or a turbo-revvin' young punk, in magenta with a big yellow spoiler.
bellpeppers
That's not what the recent returns are saying…
(Movie be tanking)

They were just setting this thing up at around 4:30 in the afternoon, and I could tell the girl was tired. Cheerful but tired.
I asked Hot Rod if he was getting hot in there, but he didn't say anything.
Omega Charge
Right? I was totally expecting a Lambo when I clicked on the thread. I was like "I'm there!"
Still, this is really neat. I'd probably say hi if I happened upon this booth.
TFXProtector
We're not the target audience, anymore. The world is. That's where the money is.

Haha, sounds like Mexican Batman and Robin that I saw in Vegas wearing superhero pajamas.
Kantus Prime
No new toys wooooooo. I don\'t feel bad that I\'ll miss my closest one
SouthtownKid
Just in time for the hottest months of the year. I feel bad for the guy wearing the costume.
