FansToys is at it again, this time bringing us colored test shot images of their upcoming figure FT-22 Koot, a Masterpiece-styled homage to Kup, everyone’s favorite (or possibly second-favorite) grumpy old soldier.
Koot is scaled to blend seamlessly into your Masterpiece collection and features a high level of articulation, impressively detailed and screen-accurate interchangeable faces, including one that gives him his signature cigar. He can be further customized with optional chest pieces to give your figure either a clear chest that showcases more of the finer details of the sculpt or an opaque chest for more cartoon-accuracy. He even comes with a Targetmaster that can be used in either bot or alt mode to add further playability by providing him with a second weapon for duel-wielding action when paired with his G1 toy-accurate rifle.
Koot is currently available for pre-order from all of the site sponsors. Be sure to secure your pre-order today and add this figure to your Masterpiece collection.

Wasn't initially going to do a g1 movie crew, but I loved MMC's springer and arcee and takara's hotrod enough for me to go in. Fanstoys Koot from ebay made the cut. The reissue's transformation isn't too bad, annoying but doable. To me though I found the head quite lacking. I think that neither face really brings out Kup's old vet attitude. So I hunted down a junker xtb Locke (nightmare to handle and didn't like the matte paint), added a balljoint to the neck and viola. I feel this head swap is much more inline with the character. All the faces still work and he transforms no problem! The solidity of fanstoys but the better head (imo) of XTB. Ive been transforming a bunch of my complex transformers the last couple weeks and have been having a blast until i got to Kup. This thing is such a bitch to transform. It's not even that hard conceptually, just so damn fiddly. Why did they limit the rotation of the wheel parts?
I still love the ratchet joints on this. They make a quiet thunk that feels so much better than a lot of other figures.

Are there any differences between the two versions that are visible externally, without transforming him?
I love the figure and am tempted by a loose copy but want to make sure it's not the first version as that looks a fair bit more fiddly to transform.

I cannot stress how much approperiate that is for Kup!

Love this figure. He looks superb. You could probably get him for less than that $179 price if you are patient on eBay. Hell I got lucky and found one at a local toy shop for $100. He smelled like a cigar(which was why he was so cheap) but I can handle that lol.

Get now, as long as you won't be in a deep hole

Great! Do you think he is worth that price point or should we wait for a potential reissue?

So I just received my reissue of Koot from Terry – the box has the original 2017 date on it, is that right? I know they don't always update them but before I open it, could anyone else with the reissue clarify that it is the second version please? Cheers!

Paik's got the trick down pat. His video helped me fix the part I missed first time..It was the shoulder alignment.

Much appreciated – ordered! Free shipping to the UK always a bonus.
I've dabbled in a handful of third party companies now and have one or two favourites by this stage. I have a couple of FT pieces and will say, they do feel built to last. I would be reasonably confident in not having to invest in another MP Kup for a good while yet. Maybe let's see if i can actually transform the old sod first, shall we.

I'm in for Koot after watching quite a few reviews and transformation videos, and having plucked up the courage.
It seems like the reissue had some improvements – how can I make sure I pick that up and not the first version? I couldn't notice any differences on the packaging. Thanks!

Hello, I’m looking to part with these two as a set. Only transformed to adhere Toyhax labels and have been kept in a display case, no pets and smoke free. No issues that I’ve noticed and are both complete and with the original packaging.

I’m asking $280 for the set, including shipping from Japan. Please feel free to check my feedback thread linked in my profile. Thanks!

Glad it worked out for you, bro!!!

Yeah I think so- everything collapses fine with the bb out.
nemesisconvoy
strange….is the problem solved, though?

That's what I ended up doing… it turned out to be a piece of diecast! I think it was a drip from the mold injection process… After a bit of drilling, it snapped at the base and popped out. Looked like a metal BB. Underneath, where it attached to the diecast shin part, the shin was unpainted grey.
nemesisconvoy
Try drilling it out…just be careful and go slow.

Yeah, I first thought it might just be a loose piece wedged in there and took thin nosed pliers to try to get it out, but it's stuck. It actually feels like it's part of the base…

Have you tried…removing it?
