Yeah, I prefer Transformers killable with clear parameters on what kills them. Always felt that they would be really intricate with their components in order for their transformation to work (even when it looked fairly simple; they go from fully functional robots to fully functional vehicles. It drives the point harder that they are alive if certain things can break and cannot be unbroken, plus it adds to the tension.
Complex living things like the Transformers have complex systems. Healing a dent, a medic reattaching a limb or sheared off pieces is fine, but a head severed, body shot/sliced through and smoke coming out of things probably should mean a dead guy. How hard it is to get them to that state of "totally dead" is another thing entirely. Give us some heavy duty (but still mortal) super robots!
Wolf
I see where you're coming from and where you're going with this, however it's not exactly what transformers was about 'originally' ….yes they're robots….. but they're alive robots, and the reattaching of limbs isn't outside the norm, there has to be a cut off point where they're dead….otherwise it's a Perpetual invasion of robotic immortals' which isn't what the series is about
GirlBot
Exactly! To a Transformer, death should be a mere inconvenience and not a permanent state. Loosing a head (or a face) shouldn't be a big deal when you can reattach it (or have a new one while you're at it ). That's why I don't see characters coming back from the dead as something implausible, I'm kind of bummed out, when they don't. I'm still harboring hope that Soundwave returns if not as himself than perhaps as Soundblaster
GirlBot
Ok. Personally, I like that gimmick, so I'll say that he should have his voice in the following movies, but still use the radio bits from time to time
Xaxis
Part of my point was that Bee's voice was restored at the end of the first movie. They should have kept it that way.
SPLIT LIP
I agree. Granted this is the best example of it but I always liked how the TFs could get trashed and eventually repaired with enough resources.
I mean, they're robots. Why not have fun with that concept?

Never noticed the spare hand swinging about Cade\'s garage, when Bumbleebee speaks like Siri. Wonder who it belongs to.
GirlBot
Yes, it was. It's one of my favourite aspects of Transformers. You could take them apart and than put them back together. I really don't like how the recent interpretations of Transformers move away from that concept.
Prime135
This. It was the same way in g1.

Needs more Sam's parents.
GirlBot
He may be like a smartphone. If you disassemble it in a controlled manner you can easily put it back together, but if you chuck it at a wall you may not be able to do that with the resulting pieces. Same with Bee's voice. If you break the screen in a smartfon or some subsystem burns out, you can't repair it, you need to put in a new one. Or it can be a simple matter of Bee needing time for his voice to repair/regenerate itself (which they can do, see Scorponock in the first movie). A scrape takes a few days to heal, a broken bone takes months.

Yeah! Who is dragonstorm really fighting?!
FirestormBlizzard
Same thing please lol.
Xaxis
Ah, okay. Thanks for clarifying.
Wolf
Whoaaa that's easily the best spot! Dragonstorm combines and that knight attacking humans?!? Again the potential for the knights to be evil or a faction on their own is increasing as we have no idea what dragonstorm attacks in those flying scenes
SimbaTron
Mee too but I'm not going to ask who dies and heavy spoilers, I am going to ask questions like:
Who are all the transformers in the film.
Is that Planet thing Cybertron?
Who is the red Mclaren?
Who is the Submarine?, is he a Autobot or Decepticon?
Who are the returning characters?
who is doing the soundtrack and what's the song?
who speaks? and who doesn't?
etc etc etc
