Via 淘宝店变形金刚改造工厂 on Weibo, we have an in-package image of a new release of Masterpiece Optimus Prime. This release is designated as MP-10, much like the original Japanese release of this mold (just to confuse everyone), and he sports the modern US Masterpiece packaging complete with sticker indicating he will be a Toys R Us exclusive. One thing is slightly baffling, and that is the use of “Cybertron” rather than “Autobot” for his faction – although, as a leaked image, this is probably an error that would be corrected before this Optimus hits shelves. Or perhaps, it is a clue that this one is only going to be released in the Asian markets? That is unlikely, given the popularity of Optimus Prime as the Transformers franchise’s leading man.
We’d expect an official reveal on this one from Hasbro, perhaps at San Diego Comic Con 2017, if he is US bound – so please watch this space for more information.
Update: several members of our TFW2005 boards have pointed out that official images were released at New York Toy Fair (albeit, without fanfare or context) and also that this figure has been listed in Toys R Us’ computers for a little while. Our apologies for overlooking these details previously.

Is there any difference between this and the original Hasbro MP-10?
goldenboy1on1
I saw four at Toys R Us in St. Catharines, Ont. They are being restocked again.

Yeah I noticed that they all have it. Kind of strange, not sure why they had to leave it void. If I can get behind it, I'm going to put some silver plastic to fill it in. At least minimize it. Other than that I think the figure is amazing.

Oh. Yeah, they're all like that. If there is a fix, I've never tried looking for it…and it's not something I'd attempt since it's a non-issue for me.

Belt gap…? Not sure what you're referring to.
jeepguy25
Ok lets see if my pics will show up now. EDIT: HOLY CRAP sorry for the big pictures!! Im used to just using tags and not having to resize. But at least you can see the spots close up….?
I just wanted to comment on some of the condition issues. I wasnt even going to take him out of the box right away, but after reading all the threads, I couldnt resist. First…I LOVE it. I mean, come on. This guy is iconic, and the engineering that went into this is great. That being said, its still a TOY. If you want scale/accurate/quality replica type stuff, you will certainly pay more, and it might not transform. Even the Takara versions have their issues.
Issue 1…the chest. My matrix was in fact installed in the box, with the large opening facing out. I flipped it around. It didnt seem to fit as nicely in the chamber, BUT, the chest closed nicely. There is a tiny gap, but its 100% acceptable in my opinion. (Keep in mind the last Prime I owned was G1 original as a kid )
Note: I find the void in his belt area WAY more annoying than the tiny gap in the chest. Mine seems oddly shaped, and almost looks broken. In fact I googled images to make sure mine wasnt busted. Any fix for this?

Issue 2 is the backpack not closing. This is in fact an issue with mine. But I think I have a solution and an actual cause. If you fit the gun into his back, you will find that it fits perfect. But notice how high the butt of the rifle is on his back…

Now, if you put it in the back pack, and close it, notice the position of the rifle butt.

Whats happening is, the gun wants to sit higher, and the back pack is forcing it to fit lower. The deciding factor are these two little support ribs. They interact with the taper on the rear part of the barrel, circled in red.

I believe, and its just a theory because I havent tried, that if you carefully file down that upper support rib, the gun will be able to sit lower, and the back pack will close. I plan to actually taper that rib to match the taper on the barrel. I have zero issue modifying this area since its completely hidden in both modes.
This is just a tough thing to engineer. Since any variation in the hinge/backpack mold, OR the support rib, OR the rifle can cause it to go out of whack. I appreciate the design of hiding the gun back there though…amazing weapons storage, again, in my opinion.
Sorry if these solutions have been talked about. I breezed the thread and didnt see it, and there were pretty recent posts about the problems.

What is the sale?
jeepguy25
Hello all! I just joined. I was on the hunt for an MP-10…for years now haha. I finally decided to splurge and grab one. TRU was having a sale, so I got him for around $140. Box was good, just a little compression issue on one corner. I dont care though, I am not going for MINT stuff here.
Paint looks fine, just some tiny issues on the cab lights really. No biggie. I have pictures of the chest, and of the back pack issue/solution, but I cant post them. I think I need more posts?

Are they the exact right color?

How is the Hasbro Asia release compared to the original Hasbro TRU exclusive release?
Sam
Two different ones, a set made by KFC which is of rougher quality plastic, and a pretty decent set made by Eness which resembles the kinds of hands KFC has been turning out more recently in the smooth quality of the plastic. The Eness ones I had were pretty loose compared to the KFC ones, but they definitely looked a whole lot better.
The KFC set comes with a different gun too, I believe. Both sets used to be available either on ebay or aliexpress, try searching for "MP-10 Hasbro hands" and they'll probably come up.

Is there posable hands for this guy?
goldenboy1on1
I prefer this one over the Takara and I have never preferred a Hasbro (in this case TRU Exclusive – whatever or however anyone wants to look at it) version over Takara as far as anything goes. My Hasbro TRU Exclusive MP 10 is magnificent. No issues whatsoever. I got this one at the TRU in my area about a couple or few weeks (can't remember) before the SDCC official release. Maybe there was a good batch or maybe I got lucky. I was nevertheless pleasently surprised and extremely happy.

Is there any fix for this issue?
rego0012
The chest gap is worse on the new release. The doors are attached in a way that doesn’t allow them to close fully.
Honestly, for the price you’re better off spending a few more bucks and getting the original release or the Takara release. This one is the worst of them all.

Any new news?

Enough with all the MP36 banter…
Has anybody compared this TRU version of MP10 compared to the previous release? Looks like the chest gap is still there…I know I helped fix mine a bit by making sure the Matrix is placed properly in the the chest (one way or the other makes a difference).
pegasusprime
he is a must have i believe they could manage and agreement between toyrus , amazon and bbts for online exclusivity at least for this mp since i dont believe they would want to sell it the orange plug is no problem for me i am not going to transform him
JdotMtron
Bring it on with the orange gun barrel tips.
But what's going to be the next Hasbro MP toys exclusive? And I'm not taking about the mpm line. They need to drop more.
