I'm guessing because they had just made Slingshot and wanted to get further use out of the new head. But I do agree that Firefly would have been a closer head to Blast Off.
Toolala
which begs the question; why didn't they just use Fireflight, his head fits much better.

Not every repaint is going to be remolded every time even when they need to. Straight repaints will always exist.
And I like to think of Blast Off as Shattered Glass Slingshot who came to the positive universe and joined the Combaticons.

That's Blackarachnia

I\'m confused by some of the comments. I am fairly certain that we\'ve already seen Airachnid in the Windblade series, She is the Oracle on Eukaris who foretold their Titan\'s death….
Or is that someone else entirely?

I understand where you're coming from- I hate the CW toy and totally agree he should have had a faceplate and at the very least should have used Fireflight's head (it would have looked so much better). I got Azim's custom head to put on him, he looks much better now, lol.
However, I think Scott and Sara tackled the issue pretty well, actually. Blast off DOES still have a faceplate and wears it. However, it is retractable and he takes it off when he's around the other Combaticons, especially Onslaught. It goes back on when he's in public. I find that interesting- I don't know of any other Transformer who takes their faceplate on and off as much as he does, and I like how it reflects his current mental state. He's comfortable around the other Combaticons, seems more guarded around anyone else, and the faceplate always shows this. I think it's an interesting way of honoring both his past (with a faceplate) and present CW toy.
Now if only he'd turn out to be a shuttle again I'd be happy.

He could just use a telecom as an excuse right…I mean his alt-mode is a jet.

Quick questions:
1) How many Titan colonies are there so far 5 or do we count Cybertron as one as well making it 6? Also do the Junkions and DeathSaurus Warworld count as colonies as well? (PS never mind Earth
though!)
2) Is there an estimated number of bots in each Titan colony?

And he knows it, which is why he chooses to wear a face plate. Meanwhile, I don't feel like the end battle of the first arc of that comic was dramatic enough to warrant a broken faceplate on OP. Maybe Barber wanted his appearance to be a parallel to those Orion pax flashbacks, eh.

You really need to work on your 'I am not going crazy by talking to no one' sthick Starscream.
Toolala
Yeah, and its shilling a lazy repaint that didn't even bother giving him a new head, or even Fireflight's head which would have fit him more. either way that aint Blastoff, not to me anyways. maybe its Slingshot covered in poo.

Imagine that, a franchise about shilling plastic toys, shills a plastic toy in a comic book.
Toolala
Well thats dumb. he looks silly with a mouth.
STARBLAST
He has a retractable mouth-plate.
Is Optimus not-Optimus because of this now too?
Toolala
Hes a jet, but more importantly he has a mouth.
SparkPlug24
Curious: what makes you call him "not-BlastOff?"
fishpop
Thanks.

I guess Airachnid is the fembot that Scott said was going to appear in this series.
Shame, I was hoping for Slipstream.

Onslaught so far is being portrayed like the Team Dad. Whether Blast Off sees it that way is a different story.
