Sideshow Toy have added a new entry on their website for a new statue offering from Prime 1 Studio. Megatron Gold Edition is a golden version of Prime 1’s Generation 1 inspired Megatron designed by Josh Nizzi, standing 23 inches tall, limited to 350 pieces and costing a hefty $999.
It is not the first time that Megatron has sported a golden look – the original Masterpiece Megatron also got a golden release in 2012 in Asia, and the concept was inspired by the classic Generation 1 episode “The Golden Lagoon”.
The rocking sculpt work by Prime 1 looks excellent in this deco, particularly in the dramatic photoshopped image that is this news post’s banner. Check out more images of this piece attached to this post.
Prime 1’s Golden Megatron is due for release between July and September 2017.

If this is not a toy, what is it?
Is it a false idol for worshippers to offer human sacrifice in a Megatron shrine?
PEACE THROUGH TYRANNY!
Or is it a 3D version of a boy band poster you tape on the bedroom wall?

I like to think I'm doing alright financially, but I'm buying something more impressive than this thing for a grand. I'm buying a motorcycle or doing some remodeling for $9k. To each their own, I guess, but this thing seems like a massive stack of boring for a thousand bucks.
Shizuka
That's was because of Armada's anniversary though, right?

pocket change to some collectors
how about a life size bobba fett for $8.495?

there's some big spenders out there with a high disposable income

I can\'t wrap my head around the fact that there might be 350 people willing to spend $1000 actual dollars on this. For a grand, I would expect an automated transformation. It should at least be able to dismount and walk around.

looking at the original statue it's more evident its a g1 megatron homage

It's cool, but doesn't really do anything for me.

Back in 2013 Takara held a poll as to what their next Masterpiece figure should be. The top 3 results where Star Saber(which exists), Optimus Primal, and Armada Optimus. Two of those exist now. Although one took longer to make. It showed there was a demand. Personally, I'd rather have a new Generations leader figure of that design. They did it with Megatron(poorly), but theres still a chance. If one so designed, an extreme retool of Powermaster Optimus would actually work.

Do you know what would make a nice change? A modern Armada Optimus. That would be great. In fact, a masterpiece with a fully articulated super mode trailer would be an instant buy. But no one will make it because it's not G1. We can get 100s of Devastators but not one Armada Optimus.

That's true!

Nice. Golden Lagoon Megatron.

There's the stomach sections and the shape of the legs as well that homage G1 Megatron.

Yep, that's definitely Megatron. Looks awesome.
I don't get why some people are saying it doesn't look like Megatron. Barrel thing on his back, very Megatron-like head, symbol on chest in usual Megatron place, Mostly silver color scheme with red details, big mostly smooth curved shins that are a darker metallic gray and black, huge fusion cannon, vent things on his torso sides lined in red, and gun hammer thumb tabs on his shoulders. Of course he has lots of extra details too and a much more modern look than G1 Megatron's simple cartoon look, but it sure looks like Megatron to me. Definitely looks far more like Megatron than any version in any Bay movie.
Ironic to me that so many are saying TF5 Megatron finally looks more like G1 Megatron yet this somehow doesn't look like Megatron at all to some…
Opinions can be funny things.

Don't get me wrong, if this had been what movie megs looked like I would have shit a brick. It looks really neat, just not like Megs
