Ever vigilant and constantly striving to please the fans, Keith’s Fantasy Club has announced it’s next two Masterpiece-styled figures – Kingorilla (Apeface) with his Headmaster Kongor and Kingzilla (Snapdragon) with his Headmaster Komodus. Colored test shots of these figures are currently on display at a toy show in Wuhan, China.
As we have come to expect from KFC, these figures practically look like they just walked off the screen of your favorite G1 Headmasters episode. Clearly inspired by the original G1 Headmaster figures, but with modern engineering and articulation, while also striving for cartoon accuracy, these figures are designed to fit in seamlessly with your Masterpiece collection.
According to board member and KFC spokesperson ibot, Kingorilla is set to release in May, while Kingzilla is set to be released in June with official product pictures and pre-order information coming soon.
In the meantime, feel free to jump over to our discussion boards to discuss what you think of these new figures.

It’s cool they include stuff like that but I would 1000% prefer all these companies ditching gimmicks like that if it meant hiding extra kibble and cooler, cleaner transformations. Same way I feel about electronics. Ahem, MP44.

Great idea
TigerBlade
Open up the hips, turn one of the ratchet plates around and put back together. The stiff joint can easily hold the weight and you can have more natural poses. Works on both of them.

Also, Snapdragons leg ratchets are spaced ridiculously wide. It takes some creative posing to not make him look weird.

Part of the reason Kingorilla can't hide the alt mode kibble better is because of the headmaster stats gimmick

I bought SnapDragon cause I think he still looks pretty great, but I keep stopping myself from getting Apeface cause he just doesn't look as good. He feels more like a 5+ year old figure than Snapdragon, and still not sure about the different purples. I'd definitely be up for an FT version.
Quintessential Prime
I think FT can do much better. If they can house the gorilla arms in the bot legs. And have them combinerwars on themselves and rotate the feet up to the shoulders of the ape mode. Then do something interesting with the plane wings and cockpit to hide it all.
For me, this character could use a better transformation to get to all three modes.

And it is very well built, almost like a tank, but I am open to new versions because I really like the Horrorcons

XTB’s latest release of this figure is good as it’s going to get, for me.
There is absolutely no way I’d side-grade to a potential FT one. Same reason I have zero interest in thier Magnus. I never liked the “Prime inside Magnus” toy deal/idea and they pretty much look identical to me, otherwise. Baring a few differences. Just extra money in my pocket, thankfully.

I need FT to get closer to this, but the KFC version is still really good for its age.

I had the same feeling for the beast modes but when you have them in hand, it is a totally different story. They are awesome!
yuzhanvong
I really like these. They look great with the ft headmasters
Megamenasortimus Prime
Oh man, this and Snapdragon are so tempting! They look great with the FT Headmasters. I always found the beast modes laughable before seeing them in action in the show. Now I appreciate them both.

The off-white reissues were released for 170 a pop at ShowZ.

Apeface and Snapdragon where two of my favorite characters in the Marvel comics, and knowing KFC hascreated MP versions of them really sounds great, even if they are already a few years old.
But what's the price you should pay for it? There's an Kingorilla for sale on a local website for € 180 ($194). Is it worth that? Or is another company going to release these two as well?
RoboToybase has them as well for a lower price, but with the added shipping costs it would be about the same.

….I just received both my KFC Apeface and Snapdragon offwhite + version figures and I immediately have to come here an post; an a copy of this in the snapdragon thread; is there is a tutorial or Fix post on how to disassemble an fix the head on gimmic? …so it works.. AT ALL!! As in so their heads will come off an on properly?
AS NEITHER one will detach their heads… AT ALL! Seriously! These things are gonna break before they detach!
BIOMEC
That is a good deal for both of them, excellent figures!

Yeah they came with boxes. Ended up taking the plunge and buying them. They definitely hold up, I understand why KFC reissued them w paint now. The only thing bothering me is the swirly grey plastic. Despite that the plastic quality and build are surprising good, I was expecting something on badcube level. I might paint them up when I have the time.

Are you asking about the value as it is the only thing doesn’t holdup after the release of off white version? And $170 seems right if they come with boxes
Superquad7
Not entirely sure what you mean here?
Do you mean does the original still have a place amongst a Masterpiece collection? Then, yes, I think so.
Do you mean has the figure lasted in terms of quality? Absolutely? I've never had any quality issues with this figure or the "Snapdragon" figure.
