Today starts Hasbro’s Reveal Your Shield campaign, with Pre-Orders launching earlier this morning. That hasn’t stopped some brick and mortar retailers from putting them out on the shelves a bit early though, as 2005 Boards member JohnRedcorn has an in-depth look at Voyager Megatron. Read on to check his initial thoughts, view the pics, and leave your own feedback!
SharkyMcShark
This is genuinely one of the most underrated figures of the last decade.

The only reason I Eben have mines is because I went to a local pharmacy that had him. Would've never expected to find him there either lol
newmanium
It really does. I only bought it because I found it on clearance for less than $10, but it does everything right. My only complaint is the head sculpt. Release a MB/PF version with a battle mask head sculpt and a better paint job and I will double dip in a second.

This figure still holds up
SuperSeanski
Did anybody ever make some filler panels for the arms? Maybe different hands?
Haywired
The only gold on this figure is paint. Cockpit and sword are painted over translucent red.

Ironically, I still didn't grab Sqweeks or Steelbane during that sale – kept hoping to see Crosshairs.
But I never saw any of the Voyagers on sale.
newmanium
Yes, it was the only reason why I bought it. I was suprised too.

$7?!?!
newmanium
I found Megatron on clearance for $7 at Walmart about one month ago. I was hesitant to open him because I was never a fan of his design, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I did.
I have a question. Is the top of his cockpit painted gold over the translucent red plastic or is it simply just gold plastic?

Got around to taking some pics today:

Pros:
> Sculpt, heft, articulation are all solid.
> Transformation hits the right sweet spot of complex enough but not too much.
> Intakes in jet mode become belt jets in robot mode
> Has fists instead of tendril claws
> Fusion cannon is attached and can pivot to an under-arm cannon
> Sword stores elegantly on back and is hard plastic
Cons: (all minor)
> Fusion cannon is a little bit small (but still better than the Leader class size being too big)
> No battle mask
> Robot pecs don't hide real well in jet mode.
> Arms on mine don't peg together real well in jet mode when pegging in the skirt.

IMO the best voyager movie Megatron we have ever gotten. Solid fig. Just a beauty. I call him Megatronus and he fits in well on my chug shelf.

I'm loving this guy. The transformation is great and tabs securely, the articulation and sculpt are fantastic, and the price is great. He just went down in price on Amazon after I received mine of course.
Gepard
It's astonishing to me just how good the TLK Voyager figures were. Megatron, Scorn, Hound, were all leaps and bounds beyond anything else we've gotten in the last few years in terms of heft and build quality. Especially given how flimsy the TLK Deluxes and Leaders were.
I only hope this quality will carry through to the Studio Series figures.

Otherwise he’s an incredible toy. Comparing the quality of a Voyager like this to the recent PotP ones- Starscream particularly- there is an absolute gulf in quality between the two. Even the TR/CW Voyagers in fact.

Oddly enough mine had a bit of stressing on the booster/hip skirt joint out of the box. Don’t think it will be an issue though as the stressing is only on the top rather than around the pin itself.
Shmoptimus Prime
My leader Megs stays in his glorious jet mode, while this guy stays mostly in bot mode, although I enjoy transforming him a lot.
SharkyMcShark
I was fiddling with this figure yesterday because it's been a constant desk bot for me for 9 months, and was thinking that it's probably the best mainline QC experience I've had in a long time with a Transformers figure. Everything is the perfect level of tightness, and nothing has ever come off the figure.
Aside from the fun and intuitive transformation there are so many neat engineering touches to this figure. Big solid ankle tilts, head on a double joint, everything locking solidly into place in both modes, multiple moving armour panels that make posing look particularly dynamic, real unobtrusive external weapon storage.
Can I have a repaint of this please?
NGW
But they're also like…flat and dull looking. I'll take the more armor like design of the leader any day.
Shin Densetsu
One of the things I like a lot about this figure is its transformation, it's pretty intuitive and fluid. I also like how the hip skirts are NOT PVC.
