He’s big, he’s bad, and he eats Titan Masters for breakfast! It’s Trypticon, the awesome new Titan class Decepticon giant who is due for a release this fall. We’ve seen the official images yesterday, and now we can share some in-person images of the behemoth. Check them out attached to this post.

Titan Returns Trypticon
2Sixshot
If I remember correctly you can store a titanmaster inside gnaw mouth if not this joke won\'t work
(Gnaw walks up to trypticon)
Gnaw:look I can put these guys in my mouth I\'m practically eating them (felling proud of himself)
(Trypticon looks at him for a moment silently)
trypticon: that\'s cute
mcart
Yeah, so, I'm going to need a bigger home.

the one small problem i have with him is i dont like the head sticking out in the back i mean i know its like the toy but i wish it could cover it up some how but besides that yes gimmie this is going to look so nice to the other titans

I was going to mention this point as well, but am wary to mention that on these boards for fear of pigeonholing the product and thus offending adult collectors here by association, even though these days Hasbro appears to be targeting even younger children than previously due to the changing market with respect to kids and toys. These are key reasons why I get surprised at the support for Hasbro product among adult collectors today. But it is a fair point about prices, which in today's world are especially relevant. I also keep in mind that for 3P the engineering is usually a lot more sophisticated (thus to me seems more suitable for an adult) and also the number of pieces they do per release (much smaller than Hasbro/Takara) drives costs up due to the large overhead expenses related to producing/maintaining the mold for injection molding. Also keep in mind that Hasbro and Takara are themselves getting into the same price territory as 3P, in some cases higher, these days in an effort to capitalize on the finances adults have. Seekers for $180-200? They are not even very well made. Yes Model is selling much better seekers at less than half the price (granted they didn't have to do the base design). MP Grimlock was originally around $70 and then recently was rereleased with a few extra bits for $215/160. 3P isn't really made to compete with the low-end children's Hasbro stuff, and nowadays the official MP stuff isn't overall much different than 3P in price.

At the same time, you can admit that the TF fandom isn't 100% 3P fandom either. Bear in mind also that children are Hasbro's main demographic, which means different criteria being met. Some people can accept that and accept the toys for what they are. Others can't, and are willing to pay 3-6X what those toys cost for the 3P equivalent. But using absolutes such as "all" or "none" doesn't cover it, and omitting something as simple as "most" sends the same message.

Trypticon looks interesting.
I always liked the 'character' as it wasn't just another humanoid robot look.
Disappointing that he is going to be shorter than Fort/Plex but to be honest a 3rd figure at this scale is going to be a room issue for some including myself.

That was a thing? Then again, as someone who's currently watching GI Joe for the first time I can't say I'm surprised after seeing Season 1 Episode 26 (The Gamesmaster), which may just be the weirdest episode of anything I've ever seen. GI Joe certainly relished in its own silliness.

I don't understand what you are saying at all, except not speaking for all fans, which wasn't my intention, but is still a good point I will keep in mind. However, keep in mind that the whole 3P thing exists due to legions of fans who are mostly very unhappy with what's going on with official product. I can't speak for every 3P fan, but being very intimately familiar with this particular marketplace, I can tell you it is a lot of them.

Don't try to speak for all fans. I'm perfectly happy with the sized currently. I have Deluxe Warpath and have no intention of replacing him in my CHUG display unless a Legends Warpath is mindblowingly better. Not everyone wants voyager everything, so speak for yourself, not the fandom.

This is the problem I am pointing out.
Again, this is more or less the problem, Hasbro's lack of consistency and their lack of dedication to what fans want, not a reason why the charts aren't a good or relevant resource.

This website has done an approximation between Tryp and new Fortress Maximus (based on measurements of the leg) which should give a good visual, as previously said he isn't in scale with the other city bots from a G1 perspective, which these toys are strongly based on.

I'm not sure he's that much shorter than Metroplex, though, maybe it's cause he's slouching? I don't know. It seems like it will be close, especially given Trypticon's bulk will give him a good presence against the Autobot cities. I think they'll be fairly evenly matched even if Metroplex ends up with a few inches advantage.
I think the problem is scale never has and never will factor into Generations toys, and you can't go off of official charts because I don't think Hasbro is all that worried about following them and just sticks to what works for the budget or specific price point. The Titan Metroplex already broke all the rules, anyway, being that he's supposed to be so large that he has little Autobots looking out of his chest windows, meaning even Titan Masters are too big to scale correctly with the toy let alone the Legends class official or unofficial. So I think it's something that's never going to be quite right with the size department and the pickier of collectors are just going to have to deal with it or just stay away from city bots altogether.

I'm happy with 20", although I would have liked him a little bigger. Will be interesting to see him stand next to CW/TW Devastator.

He and Metroplex are supposed to be roughly the same size (official scale charts show Trypticon somewhat larger than Metro actually), and if I'm not mistaken this guy looks quite a bit shorter than TC Metroplex, so their pairing will not be awesome – these two being the principle antagonists for each other in the cartoon. I think that TC Metroplex is a good large bot benchmark for Legends scale even though realistically he is even undersized for that, but obviously this is about as big as a TF toy is going to get realistically. Nonetheless, I welcome your thoughts to the contrary. In short, Metro sort of set the size for Legends more or less, and picky collectors will ultimately want a similarly sized Tryp. As an aside, I would say that right now we sort of have 2 Legends scales – the DX9 size minus Galvatron/Cyclonus, who themselves are sort of in a B Legends scale more similar to what Iron Factory does. Hasbro of course does not usually strive to have any scale consistency with their releases in general, IMO.

Not sure if Titan Class figures have a real scale, but he looks like the right size to me.

Trypticon is gorgeous. I can not wait to get him. It's like all the post movie toys are coming to life and it's Awesome! I'm going to have to start packing away older stuff to make room for all these awesome new toys.

I feel like Full-Tilt suffers from what CW Wheeljack did. Too much of one particular color. He looks good, no doubt, just if he had joints of a different color. My guess is they did it to match Trypticon though, so it doesn\'t look out of placertain on his chest.

Wow that's a nostalgic reference! I remember that episode but I haven't seen it since I was a kid. Through the years I've been wanting to see it again but never have.
I wonder when Trypticon will be released and how much he'll cost? If he's not outrageously priced I'll definitely get him. But if they ask as much as they did for Fortress Maximus, I'll pass. He's not in scale with Metroplex and spending over $100 on ANY toy is asking way way way much of me. I mean you could sell it at $50 and still make a profit like they did Unicron. (I guess I'm beginning to rant at the outrageous prices these days. They are just big hunks of plastic parts that will stand still on a shelf after all.)
BScorpinok75
Looks good…wonder if I can luck up on just him…like I did with Scamper from Metroplex…both are a bit to big for my collection space…
