Stranded on a parallel Cybertron ruled by an oppressive regime intent on “mass recalling” anything that does not conform with their desire to achieve “the perfect shape”, the Lost Light’s away team get a glimpse into a world that is far from a utopia. Meanwhile, a pod opens, and Brainstorm lets out a girly squeal. It’s issue 3 of James Roberts’ ongoing series, Transformers Lost Light, and we have a full preview for you to check out, care of Newsarama! Read it after the break, and be sure to pick this book up when it hits stores soon.

Thanks~! I may not post in the forums to often (partially cause how divisive the MTMTE threads can be), but I do like to dig through old issues and hunt for stuff that may be relevant to current stories. Roberts seems to leave a lot of breadcrumbs along the way- I think it's fun to look for them. xD

Spot on!

Yeah, that. But indeed, I've taken "echo capturing" as "being saved".
TF14
Cloaking technology? Or since it was a frantic battle as you guys have been saying maybe he just showed up and nobody noticed you'd have to imagine he's gotten pretty good at staying out of the way after all these years of war
barry
I know. that's why I was quoting the line about only needing to capture the spark echo.
In #44 he makes references to "teleport chambers powerful enough to send me halfway across the galaxy" so that "when a blip flickers of flares, off I go". The text does seem to say that he is going to the spark's at the point of death.
I think @kmc was wondering how he could teleport into a frantic battle like the one in RID#16 to capture the echo.
Sockie
The Necrobot didn't save Turmoil, the last echoes of his spark were just transmitted to one of the flowers around Starscream's statue. The names Nightbeat listed were all people Starscream had murdered; that scene's just telling us how the Necrobot made the flowers for every Cybertronian death.
barry
He only needs to capture the "fading echo of the spark signature", which I'm guessing is something he can do from a small, but discrete distance?

Javelin…yes Optimus even mentioned it to him after Shockwave saved him being punished for scolding the senate.
Javelin
Maybe phase in, grab the person and phase out before being shot/stepped on/ etc? I dunno.
kmc
Wait … Turmoil? Is that the Turmoil killed by Starscream back in RID#16? How can he be saved "at the moment before death" in such a battle where Devastator was involved?
Rakzo
He used to before the Senate took him.
Javelin
He often changed colors? Not arguing, honestly never heard this before.
Lj30
Is it possible that this is Shockwave in an alternate universe? Wasnt he extremely inquisitive? Didnt he often change colors? Wouldnt his appearance in this Universe be similar.to his empurata in the regular universe? He was a Senator in the regular universe who went against the Senate. Just a thought.

Good spotting. It does strike me as odd that 'The Inquisitor' would be the rogue but maybe he's decided it's the Council that are the heretical ones?
Olympia
I really think he's 9 of 12. Just look compare shape alone from the two screenshots. The arms match up near perfectly, the head is the right shape whereas 5 of 12's head shape extrudes forward more and isn't flat like we see in the preview. It's hard to compare the front since all we've got is this shot to compare to, but it's pretty convincing.
And a reminder that colors change easily in the TF world. It's not like Shockwave ever stayed the same color for too long.
Edit: And it's been approximately a year since Elegant Chaos in story.
Javelin
The image of Brainstorm squealing like a fangirl made me giggle. XD

Quite possibly. It may be he was recruited to the council after he'd left the census office. Or it might be that I'm 100% wrong. With any luck we'll find out on Wednesday.
Wheeljack_Prime
Interesting logic, just figured that he left the Census office long before the point at which the timelines diverged.
barry
Enumerator means Census taker, which is a play on Censere's name was and he also said he used to work in the Census office. So I'm reasonably confident that at some point we're got to get the revelation that Censere was at one point a member of the Functionist Council. A story about a dominant Functionist council in an alternate reality seems like a good spot to reveal that. From what we've seen of Censere he seems like a fairly nice geezer so for him to be the rougue council member would also make sense.
I could be totally wrong. If you can find the thread I started speculating on Tarn being Dominus Ambus you'll see some great proof of that (though hey, do I get any points for Dominus actually being a member of the DJD? No? fine), but if you're asking me how I reached my conclusion on the preview, there you go.
Wheeljack_Prime
Why, just because he's red too?
