You may remember that not too long ago, an IMDB entry stirred up a rumor of a potential identity for the role of The Maker from Transformers: The Last Knight. Back then, we took it with a grain of salt but we were finally able to track down the source.
It turn out that Sue Terry Voices; a leading voice-over agency based in London’s Soho representing voice actress Gemma Chan may have been the source of the information.
That being said we now have the confirmation we need to say that Gemma Chan is the voice of The Maker who told Optimus Prime:
“Your world is dying, Optimus Prime. Do you seek redemption?”
Additionally, The Maker now has a name. What is it? We are keeping the spoiler off our front page. Check it out, after the jump.
Spoilers: Transformers 5 (2017) Quintessa. Paramount Pictures

Even if you don't like them, the newer stories, for the most part, are objectively better. More fleshed out character, more consistent continuity, stronger story lines, less messy animation, etc. If you don't enjoy them, that's fine, heck, even I enjoy G1 more than some of them, but they are objectively better. I am glad, however, that you agree the movies don't need to have major influence from previous fiction.

First of all I'll acknowledge that you said 'a lot of Geewunners', rather than all.. So I guess I'm excluded in this slightly
I HATE all of the newer takes on Transformers. That isn't JUST because of my childhood, but because I hate the designs, animation, and most of all – the scripts. I just don't like them. You thinking they are better is your opinion, and not shared by everyone. Don't get me wrong – there are things I hate about G1 too!
HOWEVER – I don't want the films to be like G1. I think it would be pointless. When you have THAT much source material, and generations of people who like them for different reasons, choosing just one would be pointless and limiting. The movies should always be inspired by the cartoons and comics, and not follow their story ARC too closely.
Personally, I'm happy with the movies being completely their own thing. I don't always like them, but I'd rather them do something new. They can't just cater for a certain group of people, and that includes Transformers Fans! These movies are made to rake in a LOT of money, and not just cater for us.

At this point in time, I think it's utterly pointless to want everything to be like the older version, considering how how many older versions there are to chose from. Transformers has been getting completely re-imagined since Beast Wars, back in the 90s. If you're gonna make TF like a previous version, which do you chose? Most of the newer takes are better than the original, something that a lot of Geewunners like to ignore, because they want everything to be like their childhood. It's that kind of entitlement, their feeling that all other versions of the brand should be pushed aside for theirs, that makes fans of other parts of the franchise resent G1 fans. The argument that "G1 should be held above all else because without it, there wouldn't be any others" is a crap argument. Sure, G1 started Transformers, but the franchise would be long dead if it weren't for BW and G1 fans wouldn't have nearly as much stuff if the movies hadn't made the franchise so profitable. In fact, every version of TF has kept the franchise alive a little longer. The idea of G1 being more important because it was first is plain stupid.

They've just removed the Quintessa bit from the site. It now only reads "Transformers 5 (2017) Paramount Pictures".
Red Goblin
Did you read the article?
CKPRIME
It appears they confirmed she is going to be in the movie. It doesn't say they confirmed the character.
Red Goblin
Someone didn't check the frontpage. Her agency confirmed it.
CKPRIME
The name of the character doesn't seem to be confirmed. Unless you are taking the IMDB page as confirmation.
SPLIT LIP
Except it isn't. We've since had official confirmation that she is playing Quintessa. (Front paged and everything) The thread title was just never updated.
Jazz210
Probably…cuz i mean waaay out in left field theres a guy listed on it as "submarine big man" as his character. Voice actor? Actor actor?? Who knows
UltraAlanMagnus
You guys realize this is all bunk right?

I agree with this. While it is okay to explore new concepts with an old idea, at the same time one must remember to honor the source's roots. Basically a proper balance between the old and new concepts need to be struck. A good example would be the Animated series. While the series is quite drastically from what G1 established, it still honors it with callbacks or slightly updated concepts. Only time I would say perhaps it's alright to create all new material would be if the original material was more of a lost gem of history per se. An example would be Steeljaw in RiD2015 who is drastically different from his G1 counterpart.

I think the "Creators" may be a composite of the 13 original Primes from the Aligned continuity and the Quintessons. (Yes, I know we already had the Dynasty of Primes in Revenge of the Fallen, but they weren't really there from the "beginning" and were mostly nameless generic bots. I don't recall a Transformers story ever having the Quintessions predating the Original 13.)
Quintessa may be a Quintession version of Solus Prime. We already heard her speak and saw what appeared to be Solus' hammer in one of the trailers. Perhaps Quintessa gave the hammer to Prime or Bumblebee?
If this were the case, there were probably only 13 "Creators". Possibly a very ancient, dying race before they created the Transformers.
Chopperface
Every movie we have a group of newcomers who have to learn not to trust IMDB before said movie comes out. Rite of passage I suppose.

LMAO, half the crap you listed came after the Quints. Those things terrified me as a kid. They were definitely a newer concept in their time, and I watched a lot of movies. Furthermore, the entire creationist notion of the G1 Transformers blew me away. Years later, when I watched the movie The Matrix, I thought "This is the Transformers creation story in reverse," where organics create machines to do their dirty work, and the machines grow sentient and rebel. Yes, the rebelling robots have been done before, but then that they reverted to their original programming and started a civil war was a pretty awesome Science Fiction element for a cartoon aimed at kids. You can attempt to dismiss it as lazy 80's cliches all you want, but particularly for the time and demographic, this was great story-telling.
RodimusZero
Well, she's certainly hot, but #notmyquintesson
Needs less sexy Brit and more dying cat/old man voice.
Novaburnhilde
Very well put.
TCJJ
Wow, even the Quintessons aren't safe from gender swaps. If this was a female-to-male swap, people would be rioting in the streets (probably literally, considering all the other nonsense that's going on at the moment).
Emet Baqar
You are correct.
G1 may have had animation short comings and its ideas and concepts weren't completely fleshed out or thought of like the concept of a Spark for example, but without G1 there wouldn't have been any other Transformers series and movies since. The Bay movies are a love'em or hate'em ordeal and to each there own, but the hate for G1 is misguided, wrong even because you wouldn't have Michael Bays Transformers movies if Transformers originally completely failed. It would be nice to see a movie that was closer to the source material but it seems best to just look at it as a Multi-verse concept where eaçh world is a little or a lot different than the one each of us started out with and enjoy.
Finding what you enjoy about each concept and not taking it so serious as to needlessly bash someone for liking G1 for example doesn't do any good but create pointless animosity. Otherwise you create a pointless pissing contest of " My Optimus can beat up your Optimus" which is immature and pointless. Everybody on this website has their favorite version or series of Transformers but we all like Transformers. Wouldn't do any good for me to go around bashing those who like The Bay movies and it doesn't do any good to go around bashing those who like G1. Or the Prime series or the Unicron trilogy or whatever.
We all enjoy Transformers and thats what counts and enjoy what you're gonna enjoy.
Cheers people
