Last few weeks were interesting for Transformers: The Last Knight. Thanks to our wonderful members, we’ve received multiple catalogs and toy info. And now it’s time to share some info from Portugal where the initial line up of TLK figures were officially announced today. We are giving a shout out to our fellow staff member fallen_revenge for translating the info for us.
Most of the stuff you’ve heard before but the news here is Armor Up Changers. The new line is a rename of 3-Step Changers. The “gimmick” for this year is Battle Masks. Sadly, we do not know how the gimmick works as we do not have any images of the line. But, if you stick with TFW2005 in the coming weeks, we’ll treat you to our coverage of New York Toy Fair 2017 where the line will be revealed to the press for the first time (it’s supposedly there at the Nuremberg Toy Fair since yesterday, but we will not see it yet).
The lineup for the country is as follows:
- Turbo Changers will have 7 figures.
- Armor Up Changers will have 5 figures
- Legion Class will have 9 figures
- Deluxe Class will have 6 figures
- Voyager Class will have 4 figures
- Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet
Turbo Changers are basically renamed One-Step Changers.
Armor Up Changers are renamed Three-Step Changers. The gimmick this time is Battle Masks.
Legion Class: Each figure is 9.5cm tall in robot mode.
Deluxe Class: Each figure is 12.5cm tall. Convert from Vehicle to Robot and back in 10 Steps.
Voyager Class: Convert from Vehicle to Robot and back in 18 Steps.
As for Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet: You already know.

yeah…its frustrating watching them ask for more money and give less.

I wouldn't mind so much the prices going up and the figures getting smaller if they applied more paint and applied it more accurately. There doesn't seem to be any trade off.
rdarkstream
so prices are going up and they are getting cheaper plastic and smaller…color me shocked…All because oil was spiking…and then it crashed and the prices and quality remained shitty. But you mention this and you get labeled a nut

I am most looking forward to what Wei Jiang and KuBianBao do leard class and oversized diecast class, 3rd paty they yes will make great figures collections.

That is not a rumour, it was someone making an exaggerated statement and when you replied to that statement back then somebody already pointed out to you it was nonsense. Right now you are doing nothing but spreading misinformation.

I very much doubt that. There was a photoshopped image going round with AOE Galvatron coloured green, Lockdown coloured as Hot Rod and with the concept art head pasted on, Drift coloured red and Crosshairs. So I'd imagine that's where that ideas come from. I can imagine Crosshairs will just be the AOE figure, and possibly Drift, but I doubt the other two will be done like that.

I might actually cry then.
Lazerwave
I just hope the rumors are not true about Onslaught being a repaint of Galvatron. I heard that from someone on this site. Can't remember who.

I also worry about the continued crappy distribution…I just never expect to see stuff, I just feel lucky if I do. Like that Target movie 5 pack with UM etc. Saw it in the case at Botcon. That was it.

Mercedes should be ok, it seems since the last couple of films they've got a deal with Daimler similar similar to the one with GM. There always seems to be at least one Autobot with a Daimler alt mode for every Decepticon:
DOTM – Que/Wheeljack and Soundwvae
AOE – Optimus and Galvatron
TLK – Optimus, Drift, Hound and Onslaught, plus the junk truck whose allegiance we don't know yet.
I'm guessing there's another Lambo in this movie because they've got the licence. Not sure how prominent the other two will be, so hard to say.
zachprime86
I wonder if Hasbro/Takara still has a license with Mercedes and Lamborghini ? And will they be able to get a license for Aston Martin and Mclaren ?
User_136440
It's certainly looking that way.
A lot of people liked that aesthetic for the off screen figures more than the movie characters as it wasn a nice meld of movie style and more 'traditional' style, to the extent that they were part of HFTD and RTS. I guess things has just been downhill from DOTM onward.
Actually, now I've checked, Landmine got recoloured for ROTF (Amorhide) and DOTM (Walmart exclusive Comettor), so maybe they should've just gone for the full house and repainted him for AOE too.
Autobot Burnout
Right now that's looking to be a 50% ration given those four leaked 'Premier' toys include reuses of a dinobot and AoE BB that are scarcely if at all different.
Not to mention the one mold that should have gotten a repaint and didn't was the movie Landmine mold. Until AoE, there was a version of that excellent toy in every movie line, and even if repainted it outstrips every single deluxe AoE produced.

Oh yeah he was the one oddity they did instead of repainting Bumblebee of Stinger (the one time they had a reason to do a Bumblebee repaint and they didn't). Still doesn't make the AOE line 70% repaints. Plus I'm sure people aren't worried about new moulds getting repainted in a later wave so much as figures from old lines substituting for the TLK characters.
Autobot Burnout
You forgot AoE "Hot Shot"
User_136440
You have to remember though, when the first three movies' toy lines came out, CHUG and whatever was the current TV series had their lines put on hiatus. They now have four lines that they'll be running concurrently so that's a lot more for the shelves to carry. I really don't mind them just concentrating on the on screen characters, just would prefer them to resemble their on-screen appearance a little more, as far as paint apps go, and without just repainting an old figure.

I too think it's kinda irritating that the robots now seem to follow a more human look with less or no car (etc.) parts showing…it kinda makes them all look the same…and the toys can suffer.
I will also say that, as a movie line, AOE totally sucked. I know at that point that toy companies were getting burned on lines based on movies. I know Hasbro did. I saw Iron Man 3 figures clogging pegs forever…of course, when you have a crappy 5POA figure for 8.99, and they release tons of the IM character that can happen…
…but TF's are a different animal than all that other stuff, and can still thrive with a hefty movie line….look at ROTF and all the extra non movie stuff we got. I
We are seemingly out of the economic doldrums that hampered previous attempts, plus there are really no competing movie toy lines to compete this summer….well, Star Wars….but that's always going…..talk about crappy 5POA….that was a huge leap backwards…
User_136440
That's true, though they were extras added in by Takara to pad the line out, and weren't there to represent returning characters that were actually in the movie. I'm talking about the core line that we're designed specifically for the characters as they actually were in the movie. Plus we're looking at Hasbro releases for TLK so it doesn't make sense to compare that to what Takara did last time totally separately.
As I originally said, the repaints were all exclusives.
The difference with what's potentially happening with TLK is that repaints don't look to be just exclusives or off screen characters not in the movie, but attempts not to design new figures for certain characters e.g. AOE Bumblebee just having the new car's deco, and as some have speculated, Drift just being the Bugatti again but with the black and red colour scheme.
Seth Sunthay
And the movie advanced? (Even if it's for takara).
And they repainted the same molds for the two packs, five packs, three packs, platinum packs, evolution packs, etc.

Then prepare for DEVASTATION!
