Lost Light #2 Discussion *SPOILERS*
Murasame
I don't see Revolutionaries as a Transformers book.
Maverick Hunter Christian
Optimus Prime (Replacing "Transformers")
Lost Light (Replacing "More Than Meets The Eye")
Til All Are One
Revolutionaries (This is a pan-Hasbro-franchise book with Kup and G.B. Blackrock as main characters)
Sockie
Transformers isn't running anymore, Optimus Prime is basically it under a new title.
OriginalFire
I was just wondering how many Transformers comic series are there now. So for I am getting Optimus Prime, Transformers and Lost Light, is this correct. I\'ll probably drop Optimus Prime if Transformers is still going on
Thanks

The former! Very interesting.
Zylly103
Fair enough. I enjoy those things (especially in TAAO), so I suppose I didn't think of it that way.

I just rediscovered that aspect last night via the wiki. The Councilors must truly believe in whatever it is, since the first (and so far only?) mention was during a private meeting of theirs rather than in some public address.
Javelin
Good point, I missed that.

For the Functionist's final goal, I think they're looking for the "Perfect Shape". It was something they mentioned just before killing off the Datasticks. No doubt they enjoy staying in power, but it looks like they're using this Perfect Shape thing to justify their actions.

One good example is to go to the end of MTMTE "The Dying of the Light" and look at the facial expressions there. Especially Megatron when he is admitting to Ratchet he's scared to go out and fight because he might not be able to stop again. Look at Ratchet's as he's explaining to Megatron there is no Fool's Energon. There is a LOT of emotion there. Megatron looks haunted, Ratchet looks saddened/guilty.
Not come to Lost Light 1 where Megatron is sitting next to Ravage's statue that has been turned off. There is only a very short glimpse of MEgatron's face, and it's sorta flat. He looks like he's ordering a hamburger.
I want to point out here that I don't hate the new artist. As a person who can draw only stick figures, I admire -anyone- who can draw, and I think his art is very good. But a good businessman should know what media goes with what story, and I have NO idea what IDW was thinking when they removed Milne after such a successful run. A series that deals with mature content like torture (the DJD making people hold their own brains in their mouths!), death, religion, racism and so on, should have an artist that can convey all the pain, hurt, suffering, and goofiness that is being explored. In my opinion, only Milne really hit that nail on the head.
I kinda feel sorry for the new guy, so let's make sure if we criticize the new artist on LL, we state his art isn't crap, it's just not the right media for Lost Light.
Javelin
Some fanfiction is, yes. I know some writers have actually gotten to to become guest storytellers in the original series because of their skill.
Megastar
It was very well written.
Soundwave902
Highly exaggerated facial expressions mostly.
Zylly103
I've seen the term "child-like" being used to describe the art a couple of times now. Can anyone elaborate on that? because I'm not seeing it.
Javelin
I'm not sure there is an ultimate goal other than to keep everything as it is so they have the power. "Religious" movements like this one seems to sort of always have "voices" that speak for a goal, a belief, something like that. In some cases it's priests, monks, and so on. I think it's simply a matter of they are sitting on the top of the class system, where everyone knows their place and no one steps outside the lines. And it's very easy to make people know their place, to self-regulate themselves, if they are told "This is how it's always been, and the Creator made you that way so going against it is going against the very laws of the world itself." They have the authority to grant alt-mode exemptions so they clearly have a god-like power.
Rung seems to go against that. He has no known alt-mode, he isn't "useful" in any sense of the word, so he is a threat. You can't rule people by saying you have to do what your alt mode tells you if there is someone walking around who goes against that ideal. It's an outrage! People will start thinking for themselves!
I can't wait to learn more about Rung!
IaconStargazer
Regarding different art styles, the story and character stuff always alleviate such worries for me. The style here is kind of subpar for its story, but I'll still happily get the TPB – not a declaration of avoiding these particular issues, but I've long gotten only the collected editions for financial and shelf-space reasons. (And maybe news has changed, but doesn't Milne still have occasional involvement on Lost Light?)
Are there any ideas of what the Functionist Council's ultimate goal is? Yes, they're highly totalitarian, racist, etc. and twist religious dogma to their apparent benefit, but for a system based on people obediently serving assigned roles, what exactly is the big-picture "function" of it all? Maybe it connects to the danger of Rung's alt-mode purpose and/or the fact that the Councilors all appear to be monoformers.
And adding to the fun speculation around Rodimus and Drift's dynamic, this came to my mind.
Maybe they feel a Cybertronian equivalent of "guy love"? : D
Javelin
I sort of see Rodimus' taking on the newer colors as more of a guilt thing. He still feels bad over how he treated Drift, and apparently Drift had been trying to convert Rodimus to Spectralism for a while. It's more of a, "He wanted this, and I treated him like dirt, it's the least I can do." He seems to me like the sort that would accidentally treat someone bad, realize they were hurt, then overreact the other way trying to make up for it, lol.
Nocturne
Do you hear that? That's the sound of Drift's heart breaking xD

one thing i really like is the cameois of unicron trilogy characters in the functionist universe. i dont mind the artwork but it isnt as good as alex milnes but it is still very good. i really want to see more of a relation ship between megatron and terminus and their different personallitys through the rest of lost light. still dont like shattered glass rodimus and i am not satisfied with the explantation of him whereing the new colour scheme. something small like swerves grey autobot symbol would of worked better.
