Once again we are thankful to TF@TM for sharing their recent score of original G1 episode audio tapes from Sunbow. The most recent release is from G1 Episode 7 “Fire In The Sky”.
Here’s what they have to say:
“It turns out that the slugged tape, i.e the tape that was timed to the animation, did contain missing audio and thus we now have a dedicated video to Fire In The Sky.
The audio is from an original slugged cassette and if from the sessions when Skyfire was still referred to as Jetfire. This audio was never used in the final released version.
From what we have been told by those in the industry, slugged tapes mean that the animation was done and thus any missing scene we find on those tapes means that there should (90% likelihood) have been animation produced that may still exist on a tape somewhere.”
A transcript is available here. You can check out the audio, after the jump.

Seconded. Hearing anything 'new' with Chris Latta is awesome and gives me a sad at the same time.

Ah, a certifiable shame – suppose Hasbro and Sunbow were still working on the principle that changing the character model to the 'Skyfire' type would be enough. But an awesome listen, regardless…many thanks once again.

Hearing Chris Latta say Jetfire makes me geek out every time. I wish a fan edit of fire in the sky with the original character model could be made.

It means that all dialogue on the slugged tapes were all produced as final animation and were then cut, yes.
The slugged tapes are timed to the storyboard and, normally, to the animation which is why War Of The Dinobots includes a scene directly cut from S.O.S Dinobots and covered in our last video. See Once More, With McFeeling : Photo.
I've not checked all of the slugged tapes but I believe that, other then MTMTE, most if not all of the cut audio we have shared IS on both tapes and thus was animated.
If that's anywhere it'll be with Wally or one of the producers.
It won't, the animation would be the same model as the Skyfire tape was recorded a few days later. The tapes are currently boxes but a lot are dated and I remember tweeting about it back in October.
Thank you. We have ten more episodes to share before we finish the Transformers tapes
A lot of the pre-production material has been shared, I know we have a copy of the draft that was put online with some additional notes but what Jim and co didn't share went to other collectors around the world. I recall that a lot went to Japan

Another thing I would like to one day see are some of the pre-production notes from the '86 movie that entail how they came to decide which characters would die and which few survived, etc….
Bumblebee and soundwave I understand but why cliffjumper and not, bluestreak. Why Jazz and not, say, Mirage, etc…
seanlockyer
Imagine if all of those "old wives tales" about missing scenes from the 86' movie were true (insecticons ripping out wheeljacks throat, etc…)
Barricade24
This is really cool! It's neat to hear some of the voices like Megatron and Soundwave voices before they had their audio effects added in.
jamarmiller
wow, these are just sooo cool, as always, and offers so much to the community. Man thats the dream right, finding unused animation from the g1 series or movies. This is pretty close to being up there with that though.
Very interesting and surprised that the name Jet fire got so far along. really makes you wonder why they changed it.
Thank you so much for these guys. Real treasures to be found.
Sledgehammer
This. Simply because of the possibility that the footage might feature Jetfire's original 'Macross' animation model, which would be FREAKIN' AMAZING.
Starfire22
This is cool, but the moment someone finds deleted animated footage from the 86 movie (like the deleted scene with Ultra Magnus' encounter with Devastator on Autobot city, but animated), then that shall be big.
Grimlock_13
These are so awesome, thank you for sharing!
seanlockyer
So does that mean that there could be some sort of deleted scenes floating out there somewhere (as in actual animated deleted scenes) ?
If that is the case this is one of the biggest finds in Transformers history…
WinstoBot
Well done . Thank you so much. Keep it up guys
