Collider; a long time friend of Transformers Live Action Movie Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, sat down for a rather lengthy interview regarding Transformers: The Last Knight and the future of the Transformers Movies.
Spoiler Warning!
During the interview, the producer explains that the new movie will have two stories and in the end will come together. Additionally, Transformers 5 will set the foundation to the sequels as well as spin-offs.
2018’s Bumblebee movie is in pre-production stage with Christina Hodson as the writer.
Mr. Bonaventura [under permission] includes several name-drops during the interview which we thing the fans of the franchise will surely like.
As for the future, The Bumblebee Movie may not have a lot of Cybertronians. Majority of the focus will be on our yellow Autobot and the team hopes to film more spin-offs featuring other characters.
Check out the full interview at Collider.

I actually tried to mention this once Marvel's actual ongoing story is Thor, Avengers, WS, AOU, CW two of which don't relate to the IW build up at all but that's just multiple stories at that point, the other movies are self contained stories.
I personally hope TFs sequel set up isn't as obvious as Marvel I wouldn't mind if it's something relatively small that becomes important later, like everything with Shockwave in IDW Dark Cybertron was built to from the beginning but it was so subtle you didn't actually see it. I prefer that just planting certain seeds that seem small but eventually all come together leading up to something big. I feel the build up being more like the lead up to Dark Cybertron across all of IDW is better than just teasing Unicron and building to him across the years I would rather not know what the franchise is building to, so I can just enjoy the current arc and watch them all connect later.

How a Transformers movie is made:
1. Film cars and trucks racing down a street
2. Add explosions
3. Pass footage to editing team and ask them to make sense of it
4. Add voice actors to footage
4. Collect paycheck

I feel like Lorenzo just has a funny way of saying things, especially given he's supposed to not reveal much so he's wording things to keep us guessing.
The bit he mentioned about having to not have seen the previous films did worry me but then I had to think and, yes, compare what he might mean to what Marvel has done with their Cinematic universe (and yes, we're gonna bring marvel into this because they're the ONLY successful critically acclaimed Cinematic universe still going strong).
Take iron man 3, winter soldier, and thor 2. NONE of the events in those movies really lead up to age of Ultron. You didn't have to see any of those movies to understand what was going on in AOU. Yes, there are events that are called back to in AOU but they're so insignificant to the story happening within the movie that their only purpose is to kinda pat the people on the back that did go see those movies beforehand. Easter eggs that only serve for someone to go "I know what they're talking about". The TF films have done this exact thing in every movie after the 1st film.
That's why him saying the bee movie won't have to connect doesn't worry me. No doubt there will be nods but it doesn't have to continue the story from TLK.
Lord Tron
I'm not sure I'm guessing it'll be a combination of multiple things, the friends he lost, the choices he has made, the never ending nature of the war and whatever the creators do to him. It seems to be the opposite of his story in Age of Extinction in Age he doubted humanity and was struggling to maintain his faith in TLK it seems he will be struggling with his faith in himself, exactly what will kick this off is unknown.
Wolf
Is this what leads Optimus to question his authority, he's spent too long stopping megatron 'no matter the cost' that when the cost is presented before him….:it's a stark wake up call!
Lord Tron
Yeah I really liked that about lockdown too I also liked why he didn't think highly of us or other species because of our arrogance and our belief that we are the center of everything, it's an intriguing reason. While ruthless and cold blooded Lockdown really wasn't evil he was just a guy doing a job who didn't have a very high opinion of most species in the universe heck he didn't have a very high opinion of his own species, he was certainly less of a monster than Attinger.
Anthony Hopkins speech says a lot not just about the movie but the whole movie franchise. That's what the main narrative of the movies are this growing dynamic and conflict between humanity and the Transformers. If one watches all four movies they'll notice that arc is the most consistent that arc is the one that changes and evolves with each movie and it's that arc that has the best pay offs in the movie franchise. It's the relationship between the two races that drives the movies as a whole and the evolution of that relationship is the arc that builds up to AOE. The movies have building up to TLK we've watched as the relationship between the two species has led us to this point, to this all out war between the two alien species.
Galvatross
You know, while the quote almost certainly does refer to humans and Cybertronians, it wouldn't surprise me if Hopkins was also talking about the Quintessons as well.
Lockdown is an extremely interesting character in my opinion for many reasons. A cool thing about Lockdown was that on one hand he was the only Cybertronian villain so far in the films who did not want to enslave or destroy humanity, but on the other hand he didn't think very highly of humanity, and he had no qualms about causing human casualties if he got the job done. Megatron, the Fallen, and Galvatron all wanted humanity destroyed, while Sentinel and Megatron in DOTM wanted humanity enslaved, but Lockdown fit neither of those categories.
SilverOptimus
Indeed. 'The Creators' is a recognizable term for the general audience. Even my friends who has never watched a single episode of G1 got the idea that Cybertronians may not have been born but rather created.
Very true.
I believe TLK will explore the divide between Humans and Cybertronians even more judging by Sir Anthony Hopkins statement on the trailer. This divide didn't start with AOE. If you remember the abandoned tagline for TF 2007; it was "There War, Our World". Humans just had enough with Autobots and Decepticons having a tug o' war in their backyard.
Lockdown basically thought "I got what I want, I'm out of here. Here's your little toy, have fun playing with it". He couldn't care less for the humans.

Right ok! I'm wading in about squeeks now!
Let's make this discussion productive!!
It seems he's a mini con/micro master type bot, where if so he can upgrade other transformers, also I'm wondering if the thing Lorenzo mentions about his character produces one of the films amazing scenes and he proves himself….is it he joins with Bee (upgrading him) ??? Or is he a beta maxx type character that can also double as a key for vector sigma in his alt mode (once he rediscovers how to transform!) could explain a lot and gives weight to the interview comments also !? Thoughts people? Could this really be a thing?
Wolf
I'm with burnout on this, and he's entitled to his opinion, however I'm with him on this only for the fact it appears they've gone full media hype mode for this movie , and he is trying his hardest to sell something to an imaginary room full of people who don't know more about his product than he does, for me he is fuelling the marketing campaign nothing more, adding buzz words into dialogue trying to get people hooked through using basic NLP techniques, except he's shit at it haha! So there he is at the front of this imaginary room selling people TLK, we can tell from the trailer and the transformers interviews and leaks so far that it's going to be epic and another crazy but enjoyable rollercoaster ride from start to finish, in a way only bay can do. Casual fans sorted and catered for. But he's in our imaginary room here, and we are a heck of a lot harder sell than your average person, and we know his product better than he does, so my only potential gripe and for anyone else who loves the transformers movie universe because of its potential to immerse ourselves in a realistic vision of transformers, there is one comment he makes that is kinda heartbreaking and should just have made us instantly head butt our desks in unison, especially after the effort of creating a cinematic universe…… if and I mean IF his comment is to be taken at face value…..that they are undecided if each film should be standalone or not and that they will make that decision on a film by film basis…..then rather than building a lore bigger better and more expansive and even encompassing the first trilogy's events, they have just delved deeper into transformers mythology and history to try and expand their storytelling abilities and create more £billion£ movies the writers room if he is to be taken on his word here, was not about creating a flowing and compelling universe rich in continuity and relevance, that makes sense and makes you crave what's next….as in say , the Star Wars franchise….in my opinion the main transformers movies should hold a core timeline that is central to everything else they do and the other movies like bees movies should branch off and add richness and new avenues to explore, maybe that's the plan as I think he mentioned tf6 I believe, anyway had my say here lol
VortexPrime
To me it seems that with the answer about Batman, he almost confirm that Optimus is not going to die…
daniel 97
Since they claim to be taking inspirations from different TFs media we should get a dark Energon introduced in TLK right? Because I can't help but think of dark Energon when I see Optimus' purple eyes. It instantly reminds me of TFP, so I guess they could do their "movie" depiction of it.

I`m stoked to see how this all pans out .

Its still early to say that, if they are truly going to explain the origins of the Transformers in this movie, then this could easily explain how the Allspark fits with the Quints and the creation of the Transformers, lets see first how they handle this
in regards to Lorenzo, what i think he means is that they are making sure the movie can be acceseable to first time viewers, for example this is what Joss Whedon did with Age of Ultron, he said he wrote the movie with people that saw no marvel movie before and these that only saw the first Avengers in mind, as he knew there would be people that skipped Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Cap 2 or just some of them, or people that neither saw Avengers 1 and the rest of phase 2, so he made sure Ultron could be viewed by first time watcher, i think thats what they are doing here.
Lets just say if for a miracle this movie gets excellent reviews, if not at least TF1 level of praise, then some people that may had skipped on the sequels either because they hated them or were turned away due to bad word of mouth, may decide to give this movie a shot because they heard good things, but they will be missing alot of information because they skipped on the previous films, so in order to make sure they can see this new movie, you have to make sure you can allow the viewer see this movie without getting confused (And there are people that skipped on the sequels, but are interested in this one, as i've seen few reaction videos of people that admitted on skipping on for example Age of Extinction, but liked the teaser of Last Knight and may be willing to give Last Knight a shot)

It's the flaw with the whole "soft reboot" concept. That hey some people liked the mess enough to spend money to see it so we can't step on those toes because we need those people to line up again and again for our dream of an endless franchise. But a little fix here and an ignore that really bad thing there isn't really enough turn things around to get people who stopped paying to see the franchise films to start lining up to pay again. Soft reboots and little fixes haven't turned around the domestic box office, the only fix that has really helped a box office was to film in China, play up filming in China to potential Chinese ticket buyers, and to advertise like mad in China because it's the cheapest place to advertise.
Paramount has already tried the soft reboot and tiny fix solutions on GI Joe, Star Trek, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but for some reason the studio still lives in terror of real reboots and big fixes so they will stick with the dream that they can make Star Wars money at some point if they just keep soft rebooting Transformers.
They also suffer from the vision of one director that other studios have ran into. I love Peter Jackson's work but even I'll say they needed a different director for The Hobbit. Something to make the films feel different than Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings. The Warner Brother DC films have the problem of hard to win people back over if everything has to feel like the Zack Snyder version of the DC universe. I get the bad feeling that the Bumblebee movie is going to have to feel like a Bay film because Paramount has fallen into the one vision mentality that too many studios have fallen into.

I did not know liking shit movies was a requirement for being a REAL fan. Ah well, no point being a fake fan! Time to join a new fandom!

I my god, you guys have such Problems.
You know what? Everybody who hates the Movies, is not a REAL Transformers Fan.
BECAUSE what you say makes no sense at all.
this "It is not like G1" does NOT make sense at all, because in the G1 Cartoons it is the SAME.
Autobot VS Decepticons, War, trying to Kill each other, some Humans here and there
what are the Movies?
Autobots VS Decepticons, War, trying to Kill each other, some Humans here and there
Do you guys notice something?
In my Opinion, these STUPID Humans play a Role that is to BIG in the Movies.
The Story is about Robots after all. Compared to TF 4 i hate Transformers 1, because the stupid Humans
and the brainless Military have to much screen Time.
There should be more Screentime for Optimus, that is why i love TF 4 so much, they said in the beginning
it is going to be a "Black Hawk Down" Version of Transformers, and it was done so good.
Now in Transformers 5….the brainless Military is back again.
I really hope for these things in Transformers 5:
– That the Movie will be at least 3 Hours long (Because you can not put that much story in 2 Hours, it is just not possible)
– That Optimus will not be the "Villain"
– That Optimus AND Megatron will finally fight TOGETHER against a REAL Villain, just like in Transformers Armada
These 3 thing above would be absolute Badass, Optimus + Megatron VS Unicron (or another Villain) would just freak me out like
"oh my God how awesome"
Just enjoy the Movies. They are realistic, have awesome Animations, and awesome Character Art.
If i would see G1 Megatron in these Movies (Gun Mode, lazy stupid Transformations)
i would say "What stupid Shit is this" and would leave the Cinema.
