I wish they somehow could have done him as a Deluxe, but yeah, love the design and the execution.
Cavadus
Man, Generations Springer is such a gorgeous figure. His robot mode is one of the best in the entire line. Love his IDW design and the toy nailed it.
Windsweeper II
Facepalm is good. Being able to sit is better and far more rare.
legotron123
For those who think G1 Sixshot is better, I respect your opinion, but there's one thing I'd like to point out.
The TR one has elbows.
Plus he looks like he can do a face palm, which is how I judge all my Transformers.
Autovolt 127
I like that the aesthetics change with each re-branding/line in Generations styled figures.
Definitely makes them stand out from one another when you have them on a shelf and that's fine with me.
Starscream Gaga
Some IDW designs are pretty generic, others are not, it really all depends on how much personality the artist wanted to bring across in its appearance. Overlord, for example, was specifically made to look like a Greek statue, so he's pretty distinct. In fact, Roche's designs in general tend to be like that.
That being said, there's never been an overarching design-style for CHUG in the first place, so it's not like Skids' prominent chin stands out any more than, say, RTS Optimus' spiky head.
Dinobot Snarl
The new IDW RedAlert is super nice very distinct yet very G1.
SouthtownKid
Yeah, I would not call the IDW designs generic. The aesthetic is all over the place depending on who is drawing a particular issue and maybe depending on who did the initial design to begin with. Some I like, some I love, and some I hate. And much of that comes down to how mismatched a lot of it is. Definitely not generic.
SPLIT LIP
Is Gen Springer really that hard to decipher as the original character?
Looks pretty damn Springer to me. Also, you call the IDW designs generic, but that doesn't really make them generic. In fact, they kinda do the opposite, and actually make previously simplistic designs more distinct.
You don't gotta like 'em of course, but you can't really claim something to be indistinct when it isn't.
SouthtownKid
It can't. This is just wacky people being wacky. I have the G1 figure as well. There is a near 100% chance that the TR figure improves on it.
Well, the G1 box art is really great. I love the back of the box art on the oversized G1 Sixshot box. Maybe that one part of the original toy is better.
Thundershot
Wait…. I HAVE Sixshot. He's a total brick. How could that possibly be better than the TR version??
Sigmalock
Sorry; that's what I meant. Fixed it now.
Murasame
Nah, the new one is better
God Ginrai
It does, Sixshot got reissued a few years ago.
But I do have to agree, how is a toy that is basically the epitome of G1 brickness, that can do almost nothing except transform into 6… things, better than TR Sixshot, which has actual modern articulation and engineering?
Autobot Burnout
I don't think the mold even exists anymore.
Kingfish333
Agree. Hasbro should just release the G1 toy again in Generations packaging.
maku098
Damn, will be trying to pick most of these up. Will pass on G2 Prime and Black Shadow, because I'd rather get Octane, and because I like my Generations Black Shadow.
This toyline is great.
SouthtownKid
Takara is not going to chrome the hubcaps. They'll paint them silver, just like every other figure.
