Michael Bay’s overseas Transformers filming is no stranger to controversy when filming overseas – see the ongoing saga of the Wulong Karst for but one notable example. So it should come as no surprise that the UK filming has generated the wrong kind of buzz.
Filming is taking place at Blenheim Palace in Oxford in the UK. The palace, which was the wartime home of British World War II Prime Minister Winston Churchill, is reportedly being used for a scene involving a Nazi HQ in World War II – complete with authentic banners and SS troops. Naturally the use of the great British wartime leader’s home as a representation of the headquarters of the great enemy he fought against has not gone over well with some, The Guardian reports.
Responding to criticism, Michael Bay says that “People have not been fortunate enough to read the script and they don’t know that Churchill in this movie is a big hero.
“Churchill would be smiling.
“When you see the movie you’ll understand.”
You can see the full response on the BBC website, with a video clip.
Of course, for fans the real interesting part here is that as well as the reported appearance of a knight in full armor, we’ve now got what appears to be a scene set in World War II – so it sounds like the plot of The Last Knight will be weaving in various different time periods in its narrative.
The Oxford filming of Transformers The Last Knight will continue in Radcliffe Square until 23:00 on Sunday, with some driving scenes reportedly planned to take place.

No Bayformers movie without took few scenes in past. And there will be twist, Hitler was Hitlercon, right hand of Decepticons.
I was able to accept Middle Ages, but this is over the top.

It was with a Chinese company. They had a deal with Bay to advertise one of their hotels in the movie and Bay did not follow through with it.
Autobot Burnout
Wasn't that due to it being tied to the Chinese government agreements?

Bay might be more mindful of his editing, getting sued because one of the scenes he cut in AoE had a product placement in it.

Business as usual then!

Thank you, Churchill's grandson. ⚔

I already posted a pic with the White House decked out with Swasticas.

Well said.

I get what youre saying. I just personally dont find it offensive because its both fictional and completely legal. I think people are just taking sensitivity to an unhealthy extreme. What I would like to know is if theyre were a bunch of protesters standing outside of Churchills home during the filming. If theyre werent, maybe its because no British people living in the area gave a bloody crap about it. And if they didnt care, maybe transformers fans in America shouldnt care either. Just saying…

I think that article settles the matters.
Churchill's grandson: Transformers 5 fallout is 'dismal, idiotic, preposterous'

Yeah, we saw all sorts of stuff in AoE news that never made it in the cut. There was all sorts of hoopla over a white Camaro that was supposedly a new character.
It's almost like they filmed a bunch of random stuff and THEN came up something resembling a story in the editing room.
Burnout00012
A short little dance sequence from one of the trailers that never appeared in the movie.
Windsweeper II
Sorry, i didnt follow the AoE news back then. What dance scene ?

Human rational? I think you are asking way too much. I've seen people get all bent out of shape over the American Civil War when there isn't anyone alive left from that fight.

I'm not sure. It's a small museum, so I chalked it up to cramming things together.
But yeah, if they were to be showcasing their Japanese war stuff than I myself would have limited the content to Japanese war stuff.
80sforged
Just curious, why is there a Blue Max Pour le Merit with all the Imperial Japanese stuff?
Shark
It would be hilarious if the Nazi parts end up in the deleted scenes. Even more hilarious if they don't even make the DVD. Like, imagine curious people who have heard about this story going to see this movie in theaters, then walking out being like "Hahaha, man that was–HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! Weren't there supposed to be Nazis in this movie?!"
It'll be like the AoE dance scene conspiracy all over again.
Livingdeaddan
I think that would defintely offend the war vets if you did that.

It's not about what I feel; it's about what I think. Because I am thinking, and using rational thought and not guiding myself by thoughtless emotion.
Yes, the swasticas mean something. I don't think anyone will deny that. That's why it's used in this make believe, fictional story.
Seriously- hanging them is not an endorsement. I'm speculating that it will illustrate a good overcoming evil plot point in the film, in which case it might be all too appropriate to use Churchill's estate.
I think we should all watch the movie before feigning outrage over something so trivial.
I was at an old Military base museum (Moffet Field to be accurate) not long ago. US military. Fought Japan in WW2. You know what they had on display there? WW2 Japanese military paraphanilia. Swords. Uniforms. By the (lack of) logic of those upset by FAKE banners that will be removed after completion of filming then they should be equally outraged by PERMANENT displays of REAL items of our military's enemies.
And quoting a fictional character doesn't really support an argument because it too is fiction.
