Giant Robot Comics has shared via Twitter a clean version of their exclusive variant cover for Transformers: Revolution. The cover (drawn by Casey Coller and colored by John Paul Bovae) depicts Unicron in the sky with his heralds swooping down on a group of Autobots at the Halifax Public Gardens, a destination most voted by fans for the Autobots to visit in a poll ran by Giant Robot Comics. One may notice Windblade being included in this cover; this was done in celebration of the release Machinima’s Combiner Wars Series. Check out the full image of the cover after the break.
Fallout
but that's not what they're complaining about.

It doesn`t bother me that Windblade is in the mix , but it kinda feels off with no Arcee ….. either way – AWESOME artwork
Starscream Gaga
Not really. As they said, the artist wanted to homage TFTM but didn't want to use Arcee because she was on their last exclusive cover and also wanted to try drawing Windblade in Sunbow-style.
Again, another TFTM homage is just as much reason to complain as Windblade being on the cover, not that either are really worth it seeing as I doubt many people in this thread are buying this particular version anyway.

Always enjoy people who complain about seeing the same characters over and over again complaining when a new character is introduced after 30 years.
Keep up the good work fandom, you guys never let me down.

Thank you. It's been updated.

Remember that scene in TF:TM when the Autobots waged war in the Halifax Gardens?
Please don't get upset over artistic licenses/design choices. No one is forcing Windblade down your throats. This is a highly limited run cover not available to the masses, that you don't have to buy.
You are an adult (at least I hope you are, if not you should probably seek permission from your parents before going online). If you don't approve, spend your money elsewhere. There's no Windblade agenda, just a new character some artists and writers and fans like, and wish to use rather than reformat a preexisting character to suit their needs.
Let's all take a breath, read the given reason for her inclusion (in the original post, and further along I. The thread).
Stay cool. Stay smart. Stay safe!

If that's the case, then the approach was poorly executed. The cover featured 8 characters from TFTM plus the out of place Windblade. Most fans would think this is a tribute to the 1986 Movie casts.
We wouldn't be bashing the cover if the characters are more diverse. The cover could've included only a couple of Movie bots with the rest coming from your other suggestion such as G1 WJ, Armada Red Alert, BW Warpinator, or even Computron/Menasor into the mix.

Why not use RiD Strongarm? I'd argue she's a much better character and isn't the same ol' same ol' "supermodel" proportioned femmebot Windblade is.
Macross7
IDW, can we have a 'Death of Windblade' mini-series? And to be different from every other comic company, have her stay dead.
I hope Hasbro never has another Fan Character contest again. How long before Windblade shows up in the live action movies. At least Bay knows how to deal with her.
TCJJ
I legitimately hate Windblade at this point. She's even taking Arcee's spotlight. Boo.
RobotKnight95
Well that certainly puts things into perspective.

windblade doesn't belong on the first page

Hi guys, we had two reasons why we chose Windblade on our exclusive cover. It has nothing to do with Hasbro or IDW telling us what to do, but simply that our last 2 covers featured Arcee and we try not to double up on the same characters every year. We also wanted a strong female character and with the Combiner Wars show coming out we thought Windblade would make a neat addition especially if she was done in the old Sunbow style. The other reason is these are sold mainly to non hardcore Transformer fans as neat mementos of our city's landmarks. Either to the people who live here or people who come and visit. So I could have Armada Red Alert hang out with G1 Wheeljack and Beast Wars Waspinator in front of a town statue. It's fun and neat way to show love for Transformers and a little town pride at the same time. We aren't trying to rewrite history just have fun with the robots we love.

Boy are they under sized.
HARD RAINBOW
The real question is, why isn't Windblade front center holding the Matrix?
She don't need no man-bot holding her down! *snip snap*
DJW107PRIME
I like it, though I feel like the powers that be need to chill on the Windblade Tip, I'd rather Arcee and Magnus had been included.
dragon
Background doesn't belong it stands out all from rest
Star Cracker
I like Windblade in RID2015, but that's about the extent of it. It's really getting old how they keep putting her in leadership roles that would be better suited to an established character such as Elita-1. She's literally the definition of 'death by oversaturation' and it's especially annoying that she's constantly being placed at the same level of importance as Megatron and Optimus Prime.
To make matters worse, we now have this whole 'Book of the End'* deal where she's inserted into past iterations of the series (slight exaggeration on my part, but putting her into Arcee's rightful place as an '86 movie bot is REALLY bad).
*Book of the End, is a Bleach reference to where the Fullbringer Tsukishima inserts himself into past events by manipulating reality by cutting into objects with his sword. This had the additional affect of messing with people's heads as they would remember events differently from when how they actually occurred. In the case of Bleach, people affected by Book of the End remembered Tsukishima doing everything that in reality was done by series protagonist Kurosaki Ichigo.

I'm saying that Windblade does make things a little different but I doubt that was the actual reason. The reason for her inclusion was probably to tie it back to IDW or, as the News posting suggests, to celebrate the Combiner Wars cartoon's release.
SPLIT LIP
At the same time, though, at least TFTM is something with a legacy in the brand, and this is it's 30 year anniversary.
Windblade being there really makes no sense at all. It's different enough with the park setting. It's entirely couter-productive to just replace characters with ones that have no relation. That's like if instead of WB replacing Arcee, it was replacing Hot Rod with Red Alert from TF Armada. Makes no sense, even from a "trying to do things differently" perspecive. :/
Very, very odd this is.
