2005 Boards Member Fasttrack, who was the fastest to inform the Transformers Fan Community regarding the upcoming Transformers: Robots In Disguise Combiner Force, is back with more info from the mobile app.
Thanks to our member, we now have a much closer look at the possible future toys and what exactly is a “Crash Combiner“.
Upon close inspection of unlocked robots, even the newly revealed Skyhammer seems to be made up of two “crashed” robots. This is clearly indicated by the four sets of arms, two of which seems to belong to another robot. Meanwhile, member T-Hybrid speculates that Crash Combiners may come in 2-Packs with a single Unlock Code. Good theory.
Furthermore, the “Activators” are titled as “Mini-Cons” within the game. This confirms the early speculations that Activators are renamed Mini-Con figures after all.
We’ve mirrored the images with this news post. Check ’em out, after the jump.
We thank our members for the info and ask them to keep on playing (and unlocking) to let us in on the tidbits.
Jump 😀

I really hope Cyrostase appears in the cartoon and or gets a toy.

I just want to see the Decepticon combiner so we can start drooling over toy possibilities.

In among all of the combiner stuff, I hope they still remember the other seasons and give some toys of them. Ex. Bisk – Thermidor (easily done) Clampdown- Clawtrap, Saberhorn, Scowl, Shadelock, Roughedge, just to list a few they could do. Hopefully another update will come and show some cool stuff.

I scanned some of the RID scanning codes from the NYCC display photos, and was able to use Cryostase.
The Bludgeon toy and the white Autobot jet, both scanned in a couple of tickets to use, and when you tap or swipe Cryostase, he transforms and holds out a spinning box, which opens to reveal a prize. In my case it was just power-ups and energon… but it claims to be able to unlock characters that you haven't yet unlocked.

Looks like my previous post at the beginning of September was lost in the changeover to the new forum software, so here is a reposting of the screenshots I posted up before, for anyone who missed them, or for future reference…
——————————–
I was surprised (from the first post) that it was only another small update, considering it is introducing a new theme/concept, for the new season perhaps (season 2 was focused on Minicons, and the App had a massive update for the Minicons).

(the headshot for Greatbyte the shark-plane, is Optimus, which is an error)
I see that the main map got redone, but the mission maps are still the same, and still no new missions.
They've added a new page/screen with this update, for you to get a randomly unlocked character when you scan in a Combiner code… and it has a bot on the screen called Cryostase, who transforms into something that looks like a lotto ball machine, with cubes flying around inside a big chamber. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of his bot mode before he transformed, and now it won't show its bot mode at all, even when I shut down the game and restart it.
.
They fixed up the glitch with the Ultra Megatronus (the scanning codes wouldn't work after one of the recent updates), but Legion Ratchet's codes still don't work.
The newest additions, unlocked. (I didn't bother with the in-game images, as they don't transform, as noted by Fasttrack in the first post)
.
.
And Starscream, who was added last month.
——————–
And a few weeks after the update, they "fixed" the headshot image for Greatbyte, but still got it wrong, swapping out Optimus's headshot with Hammer's headshot, instead of Greatbyte.

I have honestly just played the RID 2015 App and something about it let's me now that the figures known as Combiners are basically Hero Masherswhile the Crash Combiners are obviously just like those Hero Masher 2-packs (i don't know who Skyhammer is a mash of but hopefully we'll get a Warrior of both components) Hopefully we also got Chop Shop out of this.
The Activators although I don't know that get gimmick are obviously just like the Armada Mini-Cons. I kinda feel lik Season 4 will be like an Armada/Energon mix. hope we get some Decepticons out of this.

If these new Combiner force figures are at least like the Minicon battle packs if not Warrior sized that'd be good though I wouldn't be shocked if they end up being pure gimmick formers like the rest of the RID15 line.
RodimusZero
Well, looking at the arms of "Primestrong" in particular, the hands and elbows being shaped that simply makes me believe it's about legion size, or maybe close to the $14.99 battle pack size. The individual "combiners" (bumblebee, sideswipe), though, I think are probably at least battle pack size, probably closer to warrior.
T-Hybrid
My guess is the new Combiner gimmick will be tested in lower price points (to try and add a reason to collect Legions beyond those characters who haven't gotten a Warrior class).
If they do well enough, there could be an attempt to integrate them into the warrior price point (or into the Generations line with a bit more meat to the conversions.

And just like the Multiforce! Beyond this jet looking guy, I'm hoping for a boat, a half-track, shuttle, and truck, and car so a fella can make Wingwaver, Dashtacker, and Machtackle somehow!
Of course an actual Landcross would be better, but until more gets revealed I'm not even getting my hopes up as a possibility.
RodimusZero
hmm cautiously optimistic…
really hope these aren't going to be just two one-steps pushed into each other. groan.

So more like Slamdance. They have a bot mode and an alt-mode on their own, plus a combined bot mode?
Deadend
Hmm…
Activators – Seems like minicons that activate something. So maybe something like in Armada minicons activated hidden abilities or allowed cybertronians to transform in artillery ways they didn't know they could previously? They 'activate' that ability?
Crash Combiners – A botshots combination like method that's like SquawkTalk, Beatbox, and Slamdance? Kind of like combiner cassettes meets minicons, meets Transformers Energon? They each have a vehicle mode, and a bot mode, and together a bigger bot mode?
With potentially also the ability of part swapping for the DLX type? Hence Beeside, (heh, B-Side of a cassette.) and similar? So this way a DLX or bigger can have the excess abilities of another. Like Grimlock doesn't have arms or hands for finesse, but he does have bruiser arms for strength. Sideswipe and Jazz have martial arts ingrained in their motors from repetition(akin to human muscle memory), but not Grimlock's leg strength. Etc? (Fixit has said himself that he's a minicon. So he's probably exempt.) Kind of reminds me of the Kre-O commericals where they crash into each other and have each other's limbs/parts.
But from the picture, it looks like the Deluxe characters fully combine somehow. That might be their alt mode then. Because BeeSide has all four of bumblebee's wheels. Two on each arm. Whereas in his solo robot form, a wheel is on his shoulder and legs. So it looks like his legs and arms combine to become bigger arms somehow. Which suggests that he may not have an actual vehicle alt mode maybe? Only alludes to one, and if you need the toy version of Bee to go to his alt-mode, you have to use his normal toy that does that. Not a bad middle ground to make the toy forms work more comprehensively. Plus continue to sell more variations of the same figures.
Besides of course the obvious combiner team potential itself maybe later too.
Cyber keys may get skipped though, or they could be the further evolution of Activators next. Now that Activator minicons are discovered, a way to use the artillery they grant in battle without taking them into dangerous areas? (Cyberkeys/Sari's allspark key! Some manner to store that activator ability for use later without risking the Minicon's life/spark.)
I really like what RID is doing. It seems like they're going to explore these themes and ideas and let them evolve from the past in what seems like a natural progression of their fiction. Hope so at least. The activators aspect alone seems really interesting. Kind of like a part energon surge to turn a part that wasn't otherwise capable of artillery or other functions, into one that is by activating it with a concentrated energon power surge. Like how the 'power up armor' was a more spread out energon surge, this would be focused into one area only to enhance that for the boost. Or maybe they 'activate' the combining function of two crash combiners? That has potential in show, almost kind of DBZ fusion dance like or the activators act as like the fusion earrings or something, but more towards maybe in their alt mode as crashing into each other. Not sure, lots of potential here for them to explore. Story-wise, makes sense why Starscream is back and possibly hunting down certain kinds of minicons that ran away.
Really curious if that's about right. Seems like it could be close from the obvious nods and naming patterns though. (Still gotta love they worked in that b-side of a cassette tape nod since G1 cassettes were the first to do this even before Transformers Energon.)
RID is supposed to be a continuation of Prime, and Prime was 'aligned continuity' so it seems likely they may continue on this element of what each original 'Prime' brought to the Cybertronian species. Sounds intriguing to say the least! Either way, loving these nods to past series. Wonder if they'll dive into pretenders(a Sari nod if they do would rock!) as an evolution of beastformers, or if Russel and his dad might eventually gain exo-suits like how Season 4 implented Head masters/Targetmasters/Powermasters or like how Daniel and Spike did in TFTM. A kind of spin on Titans Return in RID after the Titans Return line is done in Generations?
Warpshard
Not quite. Instead of two vehicles turning into one robot, two robots turn into one robot.
GAUGE
I'm guessing the same people behind the beast hunters show are also responsible for these abominations?
They look sooo bad. about as awful as the old g1 Ultra Magnus toy was done but done in how the white prime in back stuck out like a sore thumb.
the smaller robots are literally just hanging off the back not even trying to pretend to hide themselves. lol
scottywan82
So the Crash Combiners are duocons, right?
Warpshard
These combiners look interesting. I have always liked the concept of Transformers not transforming in the traditional sense, but rather, turning into a more powerful form. If these Crash Combiners are executed well, I might get some of them.
soundwaverulls
Pity it seems these guys can't transform properly. Hasbro is really determined to ensure I don't buy their toys. I miss the times when they actually wanted my money.
Ravage101
SuperLink all over again! Guess Hasbro's gotta get this out of their system some how. What's next? Those fucking "keys"!
Autovolt 127
Oh Yes.
I can't believe I forgot about that.
Please Hasbro Make It Happen!

What if Activators are like the Mini-Cons who come with. the Power Surge Figures. The Mini-Cons who activate the electronics.
