Bleeding Cool recently interviewed Hasbro’s John Warden at the San Diego Comic Con. The interview speaks a little about the design process for Transformers as well as the relationship with IDW, and goes into a bit of detail about the MiPad Soundwave. John also keeps mentioning Nautica in the interview – suggesting either he’s got her in mind for a toy, or he’s a fan of the character – either way, it bodes well for the possibility of adding the female Autobot mechanic to our collections in the future.

If you mean Thrilling 30, that line was conceived by the previous design team that Hasbro fired in the middle of making the line and I believe replaced with new people including Warden.
CyberDragon10K
The enter key is your friend. It will not bite you.
OT: This is Menasaur dude, right? How is he a senior manager?
Autovolt 127
We already know more of what's coming than we probably should right now thanks to those leaks.
Thundershot
Have you ever head of punctuation? Wow.
grindcore138
If you're trying to make a point I don't think anyone's going to be sure what it is.
You don't think Armada Megatron was a good update, that I can figure out, everything else is just word salad and something about the design team only caring about G1 or whatever.
pegasusprime
Something you need to take in acount is that combiner wars armada megatron wasnt a good update it wasnt made to be armada megatron been honest they dont even try for example we got springer and sandstorm lets go a leader class retool with idw starscream and powermaster you could see they want to do it with armada megatron they just want money they dont spente time on it, on the other hand they dont have the rights to rid but they do sky byte but the other problem is that they got a repaint potential with laser prime to give us a character much more important and relevant that all the g2 guys scourge someone who got a lot of media presence compared to all the g2 era i believe we got a lot of evidence that this design team dont care by anithyng that isnt g1 the only reason we got updates for beast wars and rid in my opinion is that it was a decision above those guys or make before the complete change in design team
Lord Dcast
Like I said, 'step in the right direction'.
Agreed.

Cool interview
Hanzkaz
I don't mind that. I just wish he'd tell us more about what's on the way.
Hot Shot.
Yes, but the two examples pegasusprime listed would sell much better than that Rodimus Prime vs Galvatron set which practically no one wants. Context, my friend.
Hanzkaz
Well, I did want a Sky-Byte in my collection. I ended up getting both the Hasbro and Takara versions. As for CW Armada Prime, though I do like him better than the 'G1' version, I wish he resembled his original self a bit more. I'm still waiting for some 3P to come up with upgrades for him.

Although it's basically just another standard Q&A……
The points Warden states, aren't any less valid.
Many people are just not able to see the broader picture of it all. Instead they stare themselves blind through a subjective viewpoint as a dissatisfied individual collector whose perspective about normal toys has become so skewed.
GizmoTron
Maybe you're just reading it that way?
I'd say the fact that he talked even a little about the design process and a couple of times about a character that doesn't even have a toy out right now show that it's more than just an advertisement.
They do make things we want, but they can't make everything ever that we want.
Not everything that we would buy necessarily equals a money-making opportunity, either, and unfortunately Hasbro is not in the business of losing money or just breaking even on profits just to please a small portion of the Transformers fans.

The images in the article are great. I had not seen any official confirmation on deluxe Brainstorm being a Walgreens exclusive and the image in the article shows him as one and being available this month:
There is also an image of the TRU RID Warrior exclusives with Starscream with a card that says they won't be available (in the US) until October.
Hot Shot.
And if they want our money they'll make things we want. There's nothing "entitled" about recognizing the money-making opportunities they squander.
Lord Dcast
Not what I meant. I mean he seems to talk in the tone of an advertisement. It's kind of hard to explain, but promoting a toy and just plain advertising it are different.
Starscream Gaga
It's not a facade. It's his job.
I'm always really confused when people complain about someone talking up their own products in interviews. I see it all the time on this forum.
Lord Dcast
Couldn't it be a bit more subtle though? You know; focusing more on the content behind the scenes instead of what fans already know?
This is a step closer, but I feel the facade is still there.
God Ginrai
He's the Senior Design Manager for Transformers at Hasbro. If he sounds like a walking advertisement in interviews, that's because it's his job.
Lord Dcast
Is it just me or does he still sound like a walking advertisement?
