For those looking for an Optimal Optimus that is in scale with the current line of Masterpiece figures, we have some good news for you. Newcomer to the 3rd-party scene TransArt Toys has announced their as-yet-unnamed Optimal Optimus.
This figure looks to be based on the original Beast Wars figure with some additional refinements such as:
- extra ratcheting joints
- improved forearm shields to replicate their use in the cartoon
- retractable cannons and backpack for a more cartoon accurate look
- a smaller size that is more in scale with MP-10 Optimus Prime
As of right now there is no information on release date or pricing, but be sure to check back for that information as it becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to jump over to the discussion boards to let us know what you think of this new take on Optimal Optimus.

Why was it goofy? They established in the show that ancient Autobots/Decepticons were fuel guzzlers. The downsizing makes sense in-story.
The scaling consistently depicted the Autobots/Decepticons as much much larger than any Beast Wars guys.
That particular Optimus Prime model is not based on any specific toy, certainly not Earthrise.
Optimal Optimus is slightly smaller than Transmetal 2 Megatron. Both of which are still significantly smaller than their G1 namesakes.
The Combiner Wars shows are arguably the worst reference material for, well, anything.

Beast wars characters were closer to the animals they represented in height, so in robot mode they were bigger than humans but smaller than most G1 bots. Basically tape bot size or a little larger. Which was why Ravage fit in so well. I think optimal op would have been around A car bot height at smallest and And one of the larger bots like Irohide at biggest, but still much smaller than prime. Depthcharge and Rampage were probably about as big as a mini bot like cliffjumper

I enjoyed the fact that BW characters were in a totally different scale than G1 in the show – definitely added to the uniqueness of BW. It made the G1 characters into larger than life giants.
Super Mecha Dad
i mean, the scale in the original show was goofy
prime wars / war for cybertron kind of flattened everything out into size classes

He can fit CHUG scaling, he is about the same height of Earthrise Optimus Prime.

Between this and the recolor of TM Primal, they’re focusing far too much on stuff they’ve already done and need to start putting out some new characters.
BW05. They’ve put out four unique figures and #5 is a resized version of #1? And their 6th release is a recolored version of #2? When tf do we get a TM Megs, TM Rattrap, Rampage, Depth Charge….. something!

To be fair, it's still weird that they are upsizing their downsized version back to the size of the original toy.

Thanks, don't know why but I didn't find the BWM-05 thread

This update is for the 24cm version here:

So is this a metallic version?

That's my fault, I think I was a bit imprecise. I didn't think that they were meant to scale in terms of any sort of shared universe. I just meant that I'd thought that in the fan made charts that brought over G1 characters that Optimus was slightly taller than even Optimal. In any event, this one still is large enough that it won't look awful next to my MP-32, and I'm a sucker for light up gimmicks (hence my paying the late tax on Primal and Dinobot), so I'm in regardless.
Alph
Yeah exactly, BW MP isn't scaled to G1 MP.
Transform Element is the only one who's putting out G1 and BW figs that are actually more or less correctly scaled to eachother. Everything else has always scaled BW and G1 independantly of eachother.

Ive never thought the beast wars masterpiece figures were meant to scale with G1, I’ve always considered them to be their own collection. So jiang xings wing dragon is slightly under scaled in comparison to the collection it’s meant to be a part of!
The Allspice
Yeah, I'd always thought Winged Dragon and Beast Gorira were too large to be appropriately in scale. I'd always thought that, even with the massive change in size for those characters over the series, they were so much smaller to begin with that massive size changes would still make them a scoche smaller than G1 Optimus or Megs. Was this not the case?

Does anyone have a picture of him standing next to Kingdom Megatron?

Yes would they so happen to be TE-MM01, 2, and 3? Rattrap, Blackarachnia, Scorponok? Because I have them and really love them.
Tekkaman Blade
That's why those figures are with my MP's.
