Transformers issue 55 and the finale of All Hail Optimus is just around the corner. Apple’s iBooks has uploaded a three page preview of the issue – showing Galvatron exercising all of the usual loyalty to his men that you’ve come to expect from the Decepticon commander. Check out the preview attached to this post.

What's pulling a sabin?

Technically, they're not robots, or at least 'robots' in the way that we think of; in an earlier issue (I think), Marissa Faireborn calls them robots & Skywarp kinda goes "Um, actually, etc.".

Oh cool, I thought he was leaving as editor and writer but still occasionally writing comics. I'm glad he'll get to concentrate on exRID, in the early days I loved it more than MTMTE.
Onyx Prime would make sense certainly. There seem like a surfeit of big bads in MTMTE with Tarn, Overlord, maybe Terminus coming back, the Galactic Council even. Would be good to see a better threat level in exRID as well.

It's being almost immediately relaunched with the exact same creative team, so it's not really "ending."
As for a new major antagonist… Onyx Prime?

So if Galvatron dies who would be main bad guy? I guess if Ex-RID is ending then there doesn't have to be one.
Would quite like Sentinel Prime to be a major bad guy past the end of Titans Return but I would imagine he'll get knocked off.
Autovolt 127
Both.
BB Shockwave
No, it as as forced and inane as ever. Especially the chatty Laserbeak and Buzzsaw.
And why anyone, ever served Galvatron is beyond me. He is the epitome of Chaotic Evil, sacrificing people left and right. Not sure what his grand plan was, but glad that it seems he is finally written out of the story. Just a pity, if you look back to Furman's comics, he used to be a complex and actually scary character in IDW… now he is just a poor man's Megatron.
That already happened once… in the DotM prequel comic. Arcee just one-shots him.
Mercutio
…Is it just me, or is the writing way better than usual? The birds' banter was actually amusing. Nice art too!
2003 Megatron
Cool
Fallout
i really hope cosmos and astro don't die. cosmos is perfect and deserves happiness.
the birds crack me up lol

I'm hoping Galvatron either dies or gets majorly sidelined at the end of this issue. His arc of taking the role of a replacement Megatron for the scattered Decepticons only to slowly have his troops turn against him as his selfishness and idealogical differences slowly become apparent has run a very neat course by now. By the end of this, Galvatron at the very least will have no one loyal to him, and after that I'm not sure what more he can do in the story.
I wouldn't be surprised if Galvatron's fate in this arc and potential exit from the story has something to do with Megatronus, since I'm sure the plot point of the original Primes will pop back up soon enough.
I still can't decide if I like it or not. I get that they're doing the Statler and Waldorf thing, but I'm just not sure that Laserbeak and Buzzsaw are the right characters to fit that role. (Granted, it's not like they've had much personality in IDW before, so at least there's no real inconsistency.)
Cataraks
To be fair, they've gotta have air intake systems if they function anything like aircraft we use, and thus, a sort of "breathing"
But IDW hasn't written them like robots in a long time, so you shouldn't be complaining by now.
XIVOLVE
So, robots cough like they're choking on smoke? And they feel pain? Are they robots? lol
Megastar
Pretty much.
Negativedark
This isn't the first time Galvatron has left a loyal soldier to die in the atmosphere of a gas giant in Earth's solar system either.
Omegashark18
Yet he's getting a Titan's Return toy… I wouldn't be so sure. But I think it's about time we have a major bad guy keel over. This story could always use another major death.
SPLIT LIP
I don't know if those birds are annoying or endearing with their awful, awful jokes.
Sockie
Well, it's not technically the opening. Galvatron's "but will you outrun mine, little toy?" line and the whole abruptness of this scene make it clear we're missing some pages.
I'm feeling more and more like, one way or another, Galvatron's going to be taken out of action this issue.
Omegashark18
Well, that's definitely an intense opening.
kaijuguy19
Yeah Astrotain's going to find out likely too late much of a grand a-hole Galvatron really can be towards his troops.
