I want this one. But will settle for the standard Blu-ray one.

I don't really like steelbooks, so I'm glad I can still get this in a regular case instead. Hoping that it will come down from the ~$30 per-order price once it releases. I prefer to spend < $15 on my Blu Ray movies, if possible, even for an all-time favorite like Transformers.

I wouldn't mind having the steelbook. But I already preordered the standard bluray from shout factory.com for the free poster incentive.

You can get the remastered DVD. It's cheaper as well.

I don't have a blu-ray player so unfortunately I'll pass.

Preordered (and feeling old) 30 years?????

I think what they mean is a newly animated film, basically with modern (2d cgi) cell-shaded animation that is exactly the same to, or slightly different from the original. In this way, the whole thing is "truly" remastered.
To be honest, I'm not sure why computers capable of rendering complex 3d films can't be amongst computers capable of "converting" traditional old 2d animations into crisper renditions (and I'm not just talking of shaders or other existing options used in game emulators, either).
The style of the actual original animation doesn't need to be changed, either. We're not talking about giving it a NU- RID look; rather a NU-RID rendering quality to it (or better, as it's a film).
I also want this for the original western G1 show and, if I was filthy rich, pay as many of the original voice actors and top professional and fan production staff to take "the rebirth" and "season 3" and mix and match the episodes and parts of episodes up to make a brand new, amalgamated Japanese/western "headmasters zone/etc" show. I know that there have been some similar attempts in the past, but i thick it could work. A bit of re-writing the plot and blam; director's cut!

Well looks like I will be getting it from them as well. I really want to know what's new with this set since I missed out on the previous releases and I want to get it this time.

Ah… yea that's kind of annoying. Fixed it.

Interesting. I generally prefer ordering multimedia from Best Buy as compared to Amazon so I did a quick search and – while I did not find any sign of a steel book – I did find a listing for what appears to be the Blu-ray preorder for the 30th Anniversary release. What's more – it's priced $10 cheaper than Amazon's (and $15 cheaper than the steelbook). Unfortunately no image preview yet.

Nice, just saw this. Steel books are always welcomed. XD

Your link has an extra http:// added. The insert link function automatically adds one of those at the beginning of the field.

After seeing this very simple, yet ingenious method for displaying Steelbooks… I kind of want to start a collection. >_>

I agree. Livio may not be the greatest TF artist out there but I am certainly a fan of his art. This cover is not as bad as some people are making it out to be. It's not the greatest but it's not the worst cover we could have gotten. We could have had a Pat Lee drawn cover, complete with disproportional bodies and dull surprises…
TheIchKing
Feels like Livio gets an awfully amount of hate for his art
