Thanks to the recent Taiwanese Titans Return launch event and TFND, we have a selection of in-hand images of Titans Return Chromedome and Highbrow images to share with you. Both of these toys are looking exceptionally sharp and are going to be great additions to any Transformers collection.
But that is not all, because via the TFND Facebook feed, we’ve also got images of all four of the updated Autobot Headmasters alongside their Generation 1 counterparts, and all four together as a group. Yes, that means you’ve also got a nice look at the new Hardhead and Brainstorm in these pics, including an absolutely brilliant group shot of all four.
We’re excited – can you tell? – so check out the images attached to this post and see for yourself

You miss the point completely. Each TR figure (body or vehicle and Titan Master, if you wish to get technical) can be enjoyed on its own without needing another one, mixing heads is an added feature adding extra play, but you don't need 5 figures to enjoy the actual full gimmick.

I think everyone here has at least one Combiner Wars voyager and four Combiner Wars deluxes so needing four other figures wouldn't be a problem for anyone.

It's only a small amount of people making a stink over repaints and retools.
And for Chromedome being a new mold as well as a new gimmick does make a huge difference, saying no to that is just an opinion, not a fact. One can interact with Chromedomes gimmick in a completely different way and you don't need 4 other figures to fully utilize it. It does have differences in transformation and the core of the mold is hollow due to a cockpit. Yes, some engineering is shared, but not all, and it being a new mold does indeed make a difference except to the vocal few who complain about every repaint, retool and similar figure, the rest of us can truly enjoy it as it is, and it is a difference.

Eh. No matter. I have seven uses of the Dead End mold in Combiner Wars and will still be buying Takara Chromedome. I may feel underwhelmed by his similarity to Dead End but at least he's a new mold rather than another head swap of Dead End or Streetwise.
And I'm going Takara because Hasbro Chromedome doesn't look enough like how Chromedome should look to me. Now I like MTMTE but I just prefer the traditional 1980s colors for him. I suppose I could get both and have a 80s G1 Chromedome and an IDW G1 Chromedome.

Feels like we're getting caught up in technicalities…
Why do people not like repaints? Because they don't want the same toy again. Chromedome is functionally the same toy, save for the gimmick. "But that's a HUGE difference!" Well, no. Articulation, transformation, proportions, vehicle mode — the basic features of the main toy– they're all effectively identical. If you're looking for an entirely different toy from Dead End, Chromedome's not it.
Fortunately, for once you can get the silly new gimmick without buying the "same" toy again.

What does that have to do with what I said?
And to your question, if it shares nothing with the original base mold, then yes. But that's not what they did with Chromedome.

Essentially yes

So lets say they take a mold, and keep remolding it until every part of the original mold has been remolded into something new, does that count as a completely new toy?

Me too. Just picked up Hardhead and Skullsmasher this week. Once these guys hit, the TR floodgates could open wide for me!
shadowfall1976
I said long ago just by looking at it in pics, it was a bigger mold than Dead End, this pic shows that it's a bit bigger, not a lot but no way it could be the same base mold. The lower legs are longer and looks like the biceps and forearms are longer, plus the Blurr parts and a totally new way the hood part rocks back and new chest, there are zero Dead End parts on Chromedome.
shadowfall1976
That's not what I mean for Streetwise, I meant nothing from Dead End or Streetwise was used on Chromedome. Yeah, Street shares a lot of parts with Dead End as they're essentially the same mold.

Wish these guys would hurry up and release in the states

I love this mold design anyway, and I love Chromedome so I am happy. Hoping beyond hope that I might be able to pick one up at TFNation this Sunday.

Not seen that before, ta

I don't mind them reusing parts and transformations. They've done such a good job converting these over to new characters/figures that I'm wowed by the effort.
No one seems to excuse it when Hasbro does it, but 3rd parties do it for their combiners such as TFC's Lio Kaiser and no one bats an eye.
I wish you people would be consistent.

I'm fine with reusing the same transformation design as long as the final product looks good and it looks fine on Chromedrome and Rodimus. Slight off topic, I would not mind Takara adapting Hardhead into Drillhorn for their Liokaiser just to have a different tank mode

Seeing the pics of Chromedome with the G1 guns makes me want to hunt a pair of those down. They look awesome.

EDIT: It's rather ironically fitting here that Lisa and the Doctor coincidentally share the same pose in the preview still.

CW was full of retools and reshells because with the combiner peg system they could afford to.
Unless Hasbro decides to do Headmaster-related combiners I see no reason to retool toys design to combine into Titan Master bodies.
