Sara Pitre-Durocher has shared a look at the retailer incentive cover for the upcoming More than Meets the Eye 54. This new cover shows Windblade taking a break from Starscream’s political machinations on Cybertron to join Velocity, Nautica, Cyclonus and Tailgate for a drink in Swerve’s bar on board the Lost Light. Sara provides the art for this fun cover, with colors provided by Josh Perez!

This is a pretty accurate take, IMO.

well that isn't entirely true he didn't really have that much of spotlight in the beginning of mtmte or rid i think they're just going to give winblade enough spotlight and then she will be tone down
Veritas Prime
That's a really nice cover!

I just like the fact that the others are about to… CHUG.

This is just my understanding of why fans here choose to hate Windblade. And this is parallel to what I have heard when it comes to select WWE champions, Marvel's female Thor, and so on.
In the case of Nautica being liked, it is not just because others see her as being interesting. It has to do with the fact that she was a minor/supporting character that is slowly, but surely gaining momentum. Because of this, fans of the IDW/G1 franchise were allowed to get used to her, which in turn allowed her to be accepted as one of the guys.
In the case of Windblade not being liked, it is not due to others seeing her as uninteresting. For some, even if they will not admit it, Delta Magnus would have been more welcoming when it comes to her role. So, for some, it has to do with her gender. But for the rest, it is because they never really had a chance to watch her grow from a minor/supporting character to a major/lead character. Because of this, they feel that everything about her is forced onto them, which in turn makes anything about her hard to enjoy.
Which to me sounds like if they avoided the need to over-promote her, those that do not like her now might feel more comfortable getting to know her character. And what would be left are those who think her role should go to another (i.e. Delta Magnus).
So even if I am wrong, this is what I am seeing. Because the only solution is to have the fans ignore the incentive covers, focus on what characters they do like, and ease into the rest when they are ready.

Tailgate has a swirly straw. God, that's adorable.

This.
And this.
It's a bummer that ExRID and MTMTE both would have had nice femme-centric covers with relevant characters otherwise but in this instance, I can be more forgiving since TAAO just came out. Still, I'm cumulatively worn out from seeing her stuffed into everything. Obviously not alone here.

Maybe sometime after this arc ends, maybe the squad go back to Cybertron and Nautica catches up with Windblade with Velocity. I dunno?
still a nice cover over all.

Love this cover – so much personality. I hope I can snag a copy.

I don't have a problem with the cover, but also do not care for Windblade. The character is pretty bland, and aside from describing appearance it's tough to succinctly say anything interesting about her. Does her toy sell well? I'd be interested to see sales figures for all recent TFs – didn't know Hasbro released those numbers.

actually this is the incentive variant, shops can't order this unless they order at least 10 copies of either of the other covers for this issue. the subscription cover can be ordered in equal (or more, or less) numbers as the regular cover. but yes, the Rom covers feel more pointless to me than this because he is not a Transformers character and is only there to push Hasbro's new collective franchise universe thing

Kinda answered your own question, there…

Glad someone else pointed it out
I really hope Megatron doesn't die…

Looks really good.
Brave Magnus
I just love seeing Megatron and Magnus drinking together in the back. ^^
Love this cover!

It's the alt cover and her book launched this week…
This is a subscription variant, which I believe is separately orderable by retailers, and not included in the primary orders of the issue, and was presented to retailers as the "Windblade variant". The way the diamond preorder system works, pretty much only fans who want the Windblade cover specifically and a few overzealous stores will get it and the print run will be very small, so it's not forced on anyone.
If you're complaining about this, I fully expect you to totally flip your shit over ROM having a variant for every single book IDW puts out next month.

Haha.
I mean I don't hate her and I love that Hasbro is doing this Fan Built Bot-thing. It's pretty great, because companies and comics need a fanbase and with this concept you earn their trust (in some kind of way…). But I don't like the developement (not the character) around her. She is great as a counterpart for Starscream so that he isn't completely ruin Cybertron. But I get this feeling that she has to be mentioned in basically every comic, TV-Show and cover. Meh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not worth it to be angry and furrious about.
I would love to have a poster with the cover. Looks so peaceful as if Tarn and the DJD never attacked the Lost Light.
ArmedonLSD
Love how Ultra Mags and Megs are clinking glasses.
G1StarSaber468
Um her being a fembot isn't why people don't like her look at nautica people like her mainly because she's an interesting character full of personality while windblade not so much….
Starscream Gaga
Well, what's wrong with her? She's about as inoffensive as a main character can be, her toys sell well, artists seem to legitimately enjoy drawing her and if she really WAS as hated as people insisted Hasbro would drop her. She wouldn't show up on all these covers if it was discouraging people from buying the comic.
I mean, discounting people who's actual problem is "she's a new main character and she's FEMALE" I don't really see anything wrong with her beyond a knee-jerk reaction to a new character being given attention.
