Following the unfortunate incident of Harambe, we are actually hearing a good news. Director Michael Bay is giving a helping hand to Freya, a homeless dog rejected by many.
The director will be promoting Freya on his latest movie Transformers: The Last Knight and Mr. Bay has posted the news on his Instagram account with the following message to the world:
“Found this in the news in England.
So we called and gave the Loneliest Dog a role in Transformers. We are going to make her famous. Freya, has Epilepsy and lived in a shelter her whole life. We are going to find her a home. If not she’s coming to my house! #transformers #autobots #aspa”
The post also features the new TF5 logo which we saw very recently.
Have fun on the set of Transformers 5, Freya.

Lemme know when the dog has a home so I can commence to care.

I think that makes perfect sense too !

SilverOptimus postulated that Isabelle Moner's character would own the dog, which makes sense to me. I can think of several reasons a young homeless girl would want something as reliably good at scaring people as a dog.

Nice bit of news. Being an animal lover who has gotten decades of loyal companionship from furry friends rescued off the streets, I hope the dog's role in the movie, however small, helps it find a forever home.
As for the role, it could be anything. Perhaps a random shot showing it running away from explosions as Decepticons attack. Perhaps an army/police dog sniffing out something. Perhaps it could even be Lennox's pet in a home scene.

I'm surprised that there's all this uproar about a shelter dog being given a spot in the movie and there has not been a single mention of the homeless guy that was in the very first movie.

Just wanna say I'm glad the dog's getting a home. I'm just not thrilled about it being in TF5.

Well said

My reaction to this was "aw look at the cute widdle puppy." I didn't even think about the humping joke. Maybe because it happened, like…3 ENTIRE MOVIES AGO, with no humping jokes since.

Damn, I edited my post too late to just talk about ROTF and DOTM. I probably should have checked more quickly, but whatever.

No, I'm tired of people bringing it up as if that's the only thing Bay is known for and does in his films. Like Smashs said, I guess some people can roll their eyes, maybe laugh and move on from it.
Others hang from it like it's worst case scenario every time.

Are you saying that you're tired of the actors doing what the director wants?
If so, isn't that pretty much how it works in Hollywood? Or any job, for that matter?
Mojo' pain pills, his bling, Miles washing his dog, a robot dog…none of which had anything to do with sex jokes. As I recall, only one was used in a manner that could possible be referred to as a 'sex joke'. And even then, that's a stretch.

I have to agree, that's ridiculous.
When did I say that I won't give the film a chance? I will give it a chance, but I can still think there's a good chance something I won't like will happen, based on the past. You can't expect me to simply forget TF1, 2 and 3.
Just because I haven't brought up any other aspect of the films, it doesn't mean I don't remember any other aspect of them. I'm simply talking about what's relevant. Dogs were used for, or associated with nothing but sex jokes in two out three of these films that featured any, therefore, I bring up sex jokes when talking about dogs in these films. Plus, a dog having an action scene in Transformers would be a whole new problem itself, but I won't get into that, because it's not relevant.
You act as though I'm meant to forget the fact that these parts of the films exist, but I can't because they happened. Do they make or break the films? Not on their own. Do they effect my enjoyment to some degree? Yes. Therefore, I will acknowledge their existence, and criticize them.

i'm ashamed at all the negativity surrounding spotlighting a neglected dog in order to give her a home by featuring her in a movie….you movie haters are really pathetic this time.
