This news is a bit unexpected, but welcomed either way! Titans Return Fortress Maximus was spotted at a Myer’s retail store in Perth, Australia! This marks our very first retail sighting of Fort Max and we’re all now wondering when the Titan Class figure will start showing up at more retail outlets around the world. For those curious, the reported price for this find was $360 AUD (roughly $260 USD when converted, but there’s no suggestion that this is standard MSRP).
Continue to utilize our sightings forum as Titans Return begin to hit store shelves.

On its own, definitely worse. Hooked up to other TR base modes, maybe badass. We'll see when people get these (and Blaster, PMOP, etc.) in-hand.

It is worse. With Metroplex, the upper body (and arms) stays upright to give you multiple city-like towers, and combines well with other Metroplex toys (see below), while FortMax has the upper body lying flat to the ground, which makes it fairly flat in both city and battlestation modes, so it doesn't give you much vertical variance (towers – other than the single one in the middle). The original Fort Max toy had the legs fold up in city mode to give more towers/buildings, but this version isn't able to do that, so looks more like an aircraft carrier than a city.

I'm guessing it might be worse. The thing with Metroplex is you can make a decent half city/battle station thing (that fits with my Autobot City setup) and I want to see if Fort Max can do something similar.
harveydent
Probably because his city mode is as bad as Metroplex's city mode

Cerebros does indeed look good… but why oh why is nobody posting city pics? For a guy called Fortress Maximus.
Kinda important I would wager. City mode is the most crucial factor for me with regards to this guy.

I'm not a fan of electronics in general, and I definitely could do without the transformation sound effect. I got burned out on that one with Buster Optimus. The number of times it gets triggered accidentally while I'm transforming it eventually makes me want to throw the figure into the wall to shut it up.
That being said, I am very curious to hear the voice clips Takara includes. I feel like I actually might enjoy those.

thanks. i could only make out that one transformation sound. everyone was chattering so loud there. i hope he says cool stuff like metroplex.

Yeah, i woudn't mind some 3p add on guns but think one of the most pressing things is the arm ship deck things. I would love to see how they are connected as it would be great if got something rotates independently of the shoulder, maybe folds in the middle, and has ramps that fold out to the ground in base mode. I would buy those first so he could pose without wings and have a better base.
Would have gladdly forgone the soundchips…

Can't believe they ditched Metroplex's wrist cannons; for mine, having one of those (on each wrist) would be a far better fit to Fort Max, given their respective G1-selves.
But it is the lack of hand-held guns that most annoys me – especially since the box-art shows him holding one.
SouthtownKid
That Fort Max head is maybe the most beautiful (plastic) thing I've ever seen.

Depends on the universe, if it was IDW it would be about right
Looks cool, but I think I'll hold out till Titan Omega Supreme.

Front end of this video from Seibertron until about 1:45. Note when asked if the electronics are "all in the head" the Demo guy states "Yes" but then adds that "there are others in the body" so I'm working on the assumption he means the main body besides Cerebros.
Plus this short from Ben Yee on the transformation has a couple of SFX clips.

can someone link to the sounds?
jamarmiller
I just want Cerbros and Spike !!!!
Anyone willing to trade for a takara set ?
Robogeek28
Well here's hoping that TakTom's version will have a gun to go with his sword then.

There's the piddly little black twin cannon that can peg inside the green chest section or on his shoulder (&/or other 5mm pegholes on the figure) and the small helipad side leg cannon referencing red & blue mini-vehicle besides the leg cannons but, yeah, 3Ps to the rescue hopefully he needs at least a Metroplex-style handled Photon Rifle. I think the twin headmaster and electronic gimmicks have hammered the budget, hopefully they're worth it. I did like the sounds demo'ed so far but really want to hear more.
Cha Chi
The lack of guns is a downer. He basically only has the leg canons and that is it?..
SouthtownKid
Yeah, I noticed that, too, and am not wild about it. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I kind of wish I could have them sticking straight down. A bigger negative for me is the lack of waist guns. That's really unfortunate, although as other people have said, maybe some 3P company will step up.
On a side note, if anyone has him yet or knows someone who does, could you tell me Max's shoulder width? I'm trying to figure out where to put him. I have a shelf/cabinet that would be perfect height-wise, but I'm not sure it's wide enough to fit Max facing forward. If he doesn't fit in there, I'll have to have him just standing out somewhere, and my wife is sure to be on me about it.
Cha Chi
What i mean't was it might come in better quality materials perhaps. Not unheard of i don't think.
I am really curious where the stressmarks are..
Also i do wish landing deck or wings where the ramps should be could rotate seperate from the shoulder. It seems they don't and soon as you pose him they stick out considerably.

THANK YOU!
Finally someone else who gets it. I think the dumbest excuse I've ever seen is where Thew said Bruticus Maximus was extra tall by counting the extended rotor blades.
