Oh snap, Epps and Lennox! Back in the game!
I'd watch a sitcom of those two, seriously.

^ Haha, right?
I don't think Isabella will be Lennox's kid, if that's what you're suggesting…but it would be kinda cool to get another little peek into his home life when he receives the call to action, echoing his first appearance in the first film.

Sorry I didn't read through everything in the last thirteen pages, but I think it would be great to revisit with Will's wife, and now a ten year old daughter . . .
Also, Red Goblin, you are ever so quick to get an awesome photoshoped siggy! You're quick, and persistant!

Aww, THANKS! Very nice of you to say!
I'm traveling so I'm posting from a pal's tablet and typing everything out with two thumbs instead of ten fingers (plus fighting off so-called autocorrect the whole damned time), so longer replies a chore, to say the least. But that whole post really rubbed me the wrong way so I felt like someone had to say something, y'know?
Man, the Witwicky parents really get a bad rap they don't deserve sometimes. Ugh. Personally, I love 'em! But then I keep taking MY embarrassing parents to see these movies myself, lol.
And I'm SO excited to see the N.E.S.T. guys popping back up, too! Really curious to see if he was maybe imprisoned at Gitmo by Cemetary Wind since they ARE filming in Cuba and he was absent all this time. Makes me wonder…
P.S. Hope your mom never went TOO far with that threat, lol.

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to post this. I absolutely agree with your take on the parents in the Transformers movies. Parents are embarrassing by nature. They don't mean to embarrass but it happens. In fact, my mom threatened to embarrass me in front of my friends when I was younger if I went out of line (within reason of course).
I can't wait to see Lennox and Epps in the movie.

Wow, that is just SERIOUSLY ridiculous.
Sam's parents are clearly responsible drinkers. We've only even seen them consume MILD alcoholic beverages when he wasn't supposed to be around, late at night, or while they were on vacation in another country.
And good for them for NOT shaming their son for being a normal high school boy with a "girlfriend" in his room, other than the fact that she happened to be the MEGAHOT Megan Fox, of course. And after the events at the beginning of TF:RotF how can you SERIOUSLY claim that allowing Bumblebee to remain Sam's guardian was a BAD call? The whole family would have been slaughtered by the kitchen-bots otherwise, ffs!
Speaking of which, they specifically disallowed 'Bee afterward and Sam sent him on his way. Did you WATCH the movie?!? And, yeah, his mom got high by accident (at least at first) and overshared. Whatever. Parents are embarrassing and we all survived okay for the most part. Doesn't make them BAD parents.
And the whole point of letting their son go TO SAVE THE WORLD was them accepting that he was becoming his own man and the character development relative to their behavior as he was leaving for college. Again, did you WATCH the movie?!?
And Cade had his life saved (and, again, THE WORLD) by his daughter disobeying his orders. And Lennox specifically sent Sam INTO combat. Not sure what your point was there, lol.
On to TF:DotM, what's so "stupid" about passing onto your ADULT son the lessons that saved the marriage which spawned him in the first place? Seems pretty respectful and decent to ME, at least. And, sure, Sam's dad pestered him about finding work after all the money they'd invested in his education. He also helped drive him to job interviews. We should all be so lucky! But "ONOES WHAT AN AWFUL DAD," lolfail. Dude bailed him out of jail, was totally cool about it, and bought him half a car, too. What an asshole!
Yet somehow his dad was just "tormenting him for shits and giggles" and his mom's just a "disconnected drinker." Absolutely ABSURD claims.
By comparison, Cade was a smothering, hovering, violently overbearing manchild who wasn't "concerned about who his daughter was dating" so much as he was flat-out REFUSING to let his nearly college-aged daughter even go out on a date AT ALL.
Come on, man.
Be real.

Not the act of raising a "selfless and noble" son, everything afterward.
TF1: Being more impressed he has a hot chick in his room at 16. Letting him "keep" Bumblebee. It's one thing in a cartoon, it's another when it's happening "irl" which is what these films are trying to do. After being a parent, I've come to realize just how important children are to us and watching all of the devastation, the killing, the life threatening disasters that seem to befall these alien creatures… I'd never let my son near them again. I'd thank them for keeping him protected, and then I'd send them on their way.
ROTF: Running around high as a kite on a college campus discussing his sexual escapades with strangers and making it incredibly awkward both for him and the people his mom spoke to. (Just…eww.) And again, letting him keep Bumblebee. Even after he blew up part of their house. (Ridiculous.)
Listening to Sam in Egypt and going with Bumblebee. Any good parent would've said "No, we go together or not at all." Cade did. Lennox did.
DOTM: "She Comes First, there's some really killer shit in here!" and their RV is the "Love Tub". Granted that's more for comedic effect, but it's just incredibly stupid. (This is the most inoffensive contribution to the film series they had given thus far, still, it was stupid. Plus, his dad was an asshole to Sam the entire time. Considering his son had saved the world and their asses, he should've been all "That's my boy! You'll get it figured out, son." Instead he constantly made fun of him, pretty much as he had throughout the entire film series.
You know? Now that I think about it…. I'm not sure his parents had too much to do with him being a good and decent person. I think that was embedded in him somewhere and circumstances forced it to come out.
His dad tormented and teased him for shits and giggles. His mom was a disconnected drinker. Sam's only motivation in the beginning of the film was that of getting laid. (We were all there at one point in our lives, I'm not going to knock him for that.) It was fate forcing his hand to be more like his great grandfather that forced it to the forefront and made him stand up and fight with the Autobots. He didn't learn that from his parents.
So, yeah, now that I think about it, they were actually terrible parents.
Cade made mistakes, he didn't go out of his way to be a stupid parent. Was it dumb to reactivate Optimus? Yes and no. He did it first out of a selfish desire to become an inventor, so yes it was dumb. He also got to know Optimus and saw that physically he was a machine but his heart and soul were so much more, that he truly was a living being and deserved to be protected.
Cade tried to protect Tessa, he wanted her to stay away from Shane. He didn't bring Cemetery Wind to their home, that jackass Lucas did. All for a buck. Cade would've repaired Optimus, Optimus would've told him to stay away and he would've left to find the other Autobots. Instead, CW found them due to one idiot's greed and put all of their lives in danger. Cade had to take Tessa and Shane with him instead of going by himself because all of their heads now had a price. Either CW or Lockdown, one way or another, they were wanted and were going to be found.
They were safer together, than apart. It would've been better for all involved if Cade hadn't pushed the issue further once he knew the truck was Optimus and he just let it go, that's his mistake, but it was a human one and anyone of us could make that mistake.
Lucas brought his own destruction upon himself, Cade really had nothing to do with it in the end.
I'd still rather take parenting lessons from Cade, who's concerned about who his daughter is dating, what she's wearing, where she's going, than two wine drinkers who have a combined IQ of 10 and let their son save the world and applaud him having a girl in his bedroom at 16.
Yeah, Sam's parents suck.
Hazekiah
So they raised a selfless and noble son and that makes them "horrible parents" HOW exactly…?!?
Turakonin Prime
Lol ugh Fergy's wife, back again, oh boy lol

I'm okay with Sam and his parents being out of the picture. They had their story arc, it's over. Time to move on in a different direction. Cade's the type of person I can connect with, Lennox included since he also is a father.
I'm hoping they uncover some major things in the film and show what happened to N.E.S.T. (I mean aside from Cemetery Wind) and how they're pulled back in.
I don't hate Sam, quite the opposite, in fact. I just don't need to see him anymore. His parents, while hilarious, wore out their welcome and are no longer needed. They were horrible parents, Cade shows what a parent's supposed to be. He screwed up, sure, but he put his life on the line to make it right. Sam put his life on the line to save everyone else's.
Bad writing? Sure, I'll give you that, but it was still stupid in the long run.
This gives me hope. I'm hoping it's a fun romp with some substance above and beyond filler.

"I'm excited that Lennox is back, but not enough to actually watch the movie."
LOLWUT
optimaloptimus2
It seems everyone here is in agreement about Lennox and Epps some of the highlights of the movies and I'm happy to know they'll be coming back too. Missed them a lot in AoE.
Of course, that doesn't mean I'll necessarily be watching The Last Knight…

PREQUEL FTW

There can always be a spin-off with the Witwicky's. Transformers: Happy Wife, Happy Life
But seriously I'm loving how this movie is shaping up. They are taking the best character(s) from the first 3 movies and the best character from AOE (Cade). All I want now is Stanley Tucci to come back.
Hazekiah
Personally, I am 1,000% onboard with the sequels…but it's still never REALLY Transformers without a Witwicky.
Buster/Spike/Sam/whatever.
Fuck it, I'm even down with the parents!
SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
Mister Mao
Sam must return to this movie, please Michael Bay
SSR
I cant wait to not see this movie.
tikgnat
Cade vs Lennox is a no holds barred knock down fist fight for the affections of Optimus Prime!
Seriously though, I quite like this news.
