Third party group, TFC Toys, has updated their weibo page with images of their first Generation 1 Seacon inspired figure, Big Bite (Aka Skalor). These images give us some beautiful shots of Bigbite in robot mode, coelacanth mode, weapon mode, arm mode and leg mode! Bigbite will combine with future releases from TFC Toys to form their version of Piranacon – Poseidon. BigBite is due this quarter.
Check out the new images after the break!

If someone has another Piranacon lined up, they've been bloody quiet about it. I'd love to see Fans Hobby have a crack at it, since they're about the only company willing to take a risk with later characters right now.

So before anyone roasts me – I'm not for one second dissing this combiner team. They look fabulous in all modes – yes really! But lets be honest, they have a kinda stylised techno look about them, not so much an organic look like the 1987 originals nor the Takara combiner wars released a few years ago. And again, there is NOTHING wrong with stylised takes on Transformers. One of my Top 2 3P companies (Fans Hobby) do stylised all the time and they look amazing.
So my question is: I wonder if there's another 3P company hiding and planning in the shadows waiting to do their take on the Seacons as we speak. And if so, would they also be techno-stylised or more organic or perhaps something different altogether? Gotta say a big thank you to the punters here that have posed King Poseiden alongside his Masterforce brethren; Double Evil, Buster & Hydra.

I'm not so precise with the heights, and for a combiner like this it's variable.
– At his shortest, I'd say he's a tad under 16 inches (from bottom of foot to top of head).
– If you use the enhance pack for ankle tilts and lifts, add maybe another 1/2 an inch
– Depending on how you position arm kibble, it could go past his head height, but max I think is the cannons fully extended, going straight up (that adds maybe 2 1/4 inch past the top of his head)
– so ~16-19 inch

I took the heads apart and painted the eyes.

I use my old Testors Model Master paints, Testors enamels, Tamiya Acrylics and sprays and also Mr. Metallic and Mr. Color paints.

Same
Mostly because I don't have a pink paint… yet
Tbh, I need to go to my local hobby shop to try and find a match for the green on overbite, blue on skalor and pinkish red on tentakil's although I think I may be on a fool's errand.
Out of interest what brand paints do you use?

I actually have your paint mods saved to use as a basis when I’m painting mine up. The jaw one I agree is very vital. Did you just paint over the alt mode eyes? Or did you also paint on the inside?
David Hingtgen
That is NICE. I think I recall being disappointed TFC didn't do it that way, because that is BOTH toon-accurate and toy-accurate. There's little excuse to not follow the G1 look when both main sources do it that way AND it looks good.

I haven't seen anyone else paint the lower jaw like I did to make it closer to the cartoon…

I didn't even have to mask off when I painted my face plates… just a steady hand. =)

Would you have the combined height stats for Poseidon? To the top of the highest point. I'm wondering if he'll fit in the space I'm looking at. Thanks.

These are the fanstyle hands for mp bluestreak. I removed the middle knuckle on all of them as I found that the hands look unnaturally long with them included. Need to test transformation on all them but that’s for another day haha. Swapping is pretty easy as all the pegs fit with no modification. I did have to heat the hand joints to pop out the originals as they were in there very tightly.
The Crazy Collector
Mind if I ask what hands you used and where you got them? Looks great, BTW!

Need to get around to painting the heads after my toyhax labels arrive, but went through and gave all of them articulated hands. This really elevates them imo from the "Chug" half of chugsterpiece into the masterpiece half. Hope the painted heads and toyhax only add to that.View attachment 30335079 View attachment 30335080 View attachment 30335081 View attachment 30335082

I usually go for the acrylics and an airbrush, but for Snaptrap's head/hands I used Dupli-color black vinyl and fabric dye spray. If you're doing a single color and it's one they have available, I highly recommend it. Excellent adhesion and coverage. I often use their silver as a base coat before painting with other paints and have been very happy with the results.

Tbh I didn't mask mine off but this is generally good advice.
I'm fortunate to have have a steady enough hand and a few years of warhammer 40k under my belt.
Decent brush, decent acrylic paint (personally used tamiya for these) and build up the paint in multiple thin layers vs trying to cover the piece in one go.
I think to get a decent coverage on Snaptrap's head and cover the translucent properly took about 6 thin-ish layers of paint

I don’t have this set, but it’s one that I’m really thinking about going in on. I had all of the Seacons as a kid, so the nostalgia connection is there. Especially with a nice custom paint job!
David Hingtgen
Yup, painting the eyes is easy. It's only if you want to work on a mouthplate/faceplate etc that you need to carefully mask.
StoneCold Skywarp
Thanks ☺
The eyes are a seperate piece. All attached to the translucent back half of the heads. Makes painting them super easy and it's actually beenficial to paint over the edges so you don't have to be too neat with it!

Looks really good, like how the characters are supposed to be! One question, do the eye pieces come apart from all of the heads or are they moulded in?
