And right on schedule, Hisashi Yuki has also published some photos of the upcoming Takara Transformers Legends Skull (AKA Skullcruncher or Skullsmasher) to his Twitter, showing off the figure in both bot and alt modes. Like Hardhead yesterday, this gives us a clear look at the differences from Hasbro’s Titans Return version, most noticeably the new head sculpt.
Keep checking back, as we’ll be posting Yuki’s Headmaster pics as they roll in!

ACTUALLY if we want to get technical, Galvatron is THIS color:
LegoLover58
Anyone have instrcutions for Galvatron\'s base mode?

Personally, I'd rather talk about Galvatron and his fellow TFs around here. If I wanted to discuss folks with various issues, I'll hang around with some of the people I meet in real life. (Sorry, I find the whole lavender thing kind of silly – but maybe that's just me.). I just think that people's reaction to the Galvatron colour schemes is more about aesthetic preferences than anything else.
SouthtownKid
There are many episodes where he's lighter in Headmasters than that. But not as light as the Takara figure.
Bass X0
Nope.

What are we discussing here? Are we trying to pretend the world isn't full of intolerant homophobes? Not to be a downer, but they exist. Racists, sexists… all sadly real.
Hanzkaz
Hm, kind of sounds like the 'flowers are gay' crowd.
Anyway, back to the real topic of this thread, Takara Galvatron is alright – it's just that the colour of TF Galvatron is more striking. Put them side by side and the darker purple of the Hasbro version makes Takara one's pale in comparison.

It was in a Wikipedia article. I don't know what it was about, that I read yesterday. But when I search for the words I remember, I find several articles verifying that lavender is associated with homosexuality in the US and there is even a book called the lavender scare.
I was refering to those people who over the top called the Legends version all kind of extreme negative things, which I can't understand, because the color is really nice. So I thought this was a cultural thing, as I noticed guys from the US are in many ways different from guys in Europe. Especially when it comes to silly little things that they do not deem manly.
So don't speak so condescendingly as if it wouldn't be a possibility, Split Lip. I have met hundreds of thousands of people in my life and have my experiences with all kinds of people. You don't know everything by far.
So again, I wasn't referring to those who just did not like this toy, but those with extremely negative views of this toy in this particular color.
I also don't care for your fancy screenshots. I know myself how deep the purple was in the cartoon. I just think the brighter color looks much nicer. A bit more of a blue-ish tint and it would be perfect.
Also I was just asking, as I never heard of this lavender thing before and I wanted to know from people who might know better.

Hasbro Galvatron looks closer to how Galvatron was colored in comics during the 2000's while Takara Legends Galvatron looks inspired by how Galvatron looked in the Headmasters anime.
SouthtownKid
Well…
Looks like my memory is wrong again.
SPLIT LIP
I have no idea what you're reading then.
Probably has to do with the fact that this colour isn't even remotely close to what he looked like in the show.
Also, that's really something else to assume homophobia is behind people not liking a toy. Like, Goddamn dude, for real?
Are you sure? Because I got my Hasbro Galvs right in front of me and the colour is incredibly close to the screencap I posted above. Habsro's is way closer to show-accurate than Takara's. TakTom's is neither the right colour nor dark enough. Hasbro's is pretty much right on the money. Maybe a shade too red a purple, but too dark? No way. A quick glance at the caps on TFWiki's page and I see two from the actual cartoon that are lighter, both from off-animated episodes.
Legends Galvatron isn't even in the right ballpark. It's practically sky blue compared to the animation.
Hanzkaz
The darker colour simply looks better on Galvatron. As a leader of the Deceptions, a darker purple (imo) seems more appropriate. Gives him a more imperial feeling.
Similarly, if I had a choice between getting a dark grey Megatron or a very pale version, I'd go for the former. (Actual silver would be another matter altogether). Looks more military (and cooler), so to speak.
Murasame
cool
Markdelg
Yeah…no.
SouthtownKid
The thing is, Galvatron wasn't that dark a purple. Way way waaaaaaay less dark than Hasbro's.
Both Hasbro's and Takara's are equally wrong in opposite directions. Galvatron's true color would be right in-between. The third party offerings have done a much better job getting his color right (not to mention the head/face, while we're on the subject).
Fr33fall
I'd say it's viewed as more of a feminine color, not necessarily homosexual. That said, I'm not sure too many people in the US would view it as overly weird to see, say, some sort of business executive in a lavender button-up work shirt. Blazer or pants might be weird though.
For the most part I would agree with the others though, it just doesn't seem right for the character. Like, apparently, many others, I always viewed Galvatron as a relatively dark purple color.

Like others said Galvatron on the show was always darker, and also a different hue as the Hasbro version. The value of color on this toy is too light, and is not accurate to the show.
I was so eager to get this, the pics online were a little light, but at least the purple looked vibrant.
It is just too light a purple. In lowlight it is almost the same value of the gray on his legs. In direct sunlight the purple looks a little better, but I'm not going to display in direct sunlight. It's way off, not sure what they were thinking?
mcart
The strechiest of streches!
Nope it's just like with Shockwave; color doesn't look right fit that character, Galvie was always a darker purple in my mind.
A color being associated with another person's sexuality isn't really a factor that comes into my purchasing decisions.
Rakzo
Eeeeerrrrr, I think that's a bit of stretch.
shellformer
Purple in general is a gay colour so that probably isn't it. Not commonly anyway. Lavender is paler looking and has less menacing oomph than dark purple, is my guess.
