Hasbro have officially unveiled the Combiner Wars Computron giftset at Botcon 2016! The giftset contains the five Technobots – Scattershot, Groove, Strafe, Lightspeed, and Afterburner, in different decos – and different mold choices – to their Takara-Tomy counterparts. The set also includes a Legends class version of the Autobot with the special arm, Scrounge! Check out the display case images of the set attached to this post.

It's 6.

Is he counted as a 7th figure in the boxed set or do they only call it 6 still? I haven't found clear packaging pics yet.

I didn't notice before that Nosecone had Brawl's head but that is kind of a shame.
I still like the idea of Brawl with a drill; Ram Horn turned out great and having the drill on the tank's rear actually works quite well aside from the exposed robot face; having the cockpit sit closer to the drill still looks more Nosecone-like than having it farther back. With a new head and better paint (at least the chest) Hasbro Nosecone would've been much better. Still, it's a good looking combined mode.

Ummm, I'd like to think that most folks will have either in combined mode most of the time, so either option in that regard will give fantastic results. One one hand, you get a cheaper option with more wild colors which saves the need for upgraded hands and feet, with the saved cash on replacing the combiner head if you feel the need to do so. On the other hand you have a more unified (some could say overly red/maroon) that needs at least new feet. Win/win either way, if'n ye be displaying him combined.
Still a tough call though.

It's the justification of one's opinion being superior to others in the most childish of ways possible. Regarding me, after looking at the price and value, I am going with Hasbro: $35 cheaper and it comes with an extra figure. Or as Computron would say:
"Analysis of value, 26% less financial strain and additional aerial resource. Conclusion, Hasbro selection is superior for resource allocation and is more cost effective."

The shuttle's name is Astroscope.

But most of the people "bothered" by it and voicing that, some quite angrily, already firmly made up their mind to go with UW Computron before Botcon even started. How can someone be "bothered" by something they already dismissed before even seeing it?

The character models gave pretty much everyone a distinct look that goes beyond a visor or mouth plate. These aren't G1 toys, it's 2016, let's be real about that. I get it's not unheard of, even in 2006 Classics, CJ was absolutely nothing but a Red Bee with some Silver paint instead of stripes…but, since, we've moved mostly towards each character having his own distinct head whether it be toy or toon based, regardless of sharing a body.
Hasbro Sling Off is bad enough to many, but now you have Brawlcone and Streetspeed too. While it doesn't affect me because I'm not buying this set, I can see why it would bother some. Swaping toolings between molds happens all the time, Hasbro could have gotten the toolings for the Takara heads at least, they managed to get Afterburners mold, even if they didn't use the new guns too.
Afterburner
All robot heads look the same, they all have faces. So who cares who gets what head and face and faceplate and visor. Megatron heads for Starscream, Jazz heads for Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus heads for Omega Supreme, Shockwave heads for Thrust. What is the difference?
Well, I guess the difference is whether you want to make up your own justifications or not, the heads in this set aren't remotely close to Lightspeed's or Nosecone's heads. That's just established reality. I definitely think it makes sense to bother people.
At some point things have to matter or everything is pointless and you are better spending your money on anything else. The idea that characters, names, and looks don't matter at all makes TF extremely banal and can eventually destroy the legacy.
Rodimus Prime
Er… Lightspeed looks nothing like Lightspeed. I'm not some Weeaboo who has to trash Hasbro, but Swindle, Blast Off, or even Breakdown's head would've been a closer match. Plus, bot-mode colors are really off.

Buying the UW set is going to save me $35 since their Scattershot actually has a different head and chest already from CW Scattershot, so I'll just be buying the PE hands and feet. I guess it evens out though since I'm still paying about the same amount as I'd pay buying CW Computron plus the head and chest armor.
shadowfall1976
I asked the…Weebs, they said they didn't care if you bought it or not…
Different, yes. Equally valid, yes. People can buy what they like…people are allowed a differing opinion…
Toy colors would be great… Would be more great if more than maybe one or two were actually closer to being colored correctly like the toys were… Afterburner is most certainly not even close to toy accurate, right colors…wrong places. Lightspeeds bot mode is nowhere close to the toy, it has red and white…that's where it ends. Strafe is close, Nosecone is debatable and Scattershot is OK for a repainted Silverbolt who put on a mask and a new backpack.
I can safely say in my opinion there isn't a lot to like. If you like it, then fine, buy the hell out of it, but don't think everyone must like it.

Scourge is a fun edition to Computron and the hands and feet look pretty good, but I think Takara pretty much beats them out for better remold choices and more extensive changes, though you can contest Lightspeed from Breakdown since the mold is really garbage…but the Deadend/Streetwise mold really doesn't work for what Hasbro is going for.

The new hands/feet are the icing on the cake for me. I'm not bothered that Nosecone and Lightspeed are straight redecos, because I honestly love the Strafe from this set and the overall color composition. I may get TT Compy, but there's more than enough to like about this set.
And people who are upset at the lack of new heads on the two straight redecos – let's be real, the combiner limb bots' heads all looked the same, and amounted to either "mouth" or "faceplate" as far as actual variety in head designs went.

I truly envy the people who can buy this JUST because of scrounge and/or the hands&feet. I wish I had the money and the courage
The recolored groove is ok to me since I do not have that mold and even strafe is decent. Maybe w/o UW I would buy it albeit begrudgingly but definitely with Pe upgrades.
Chronix
Um. We are both looking at the same Technobots, right?
The New Guy
This is going to be a tough choice. I'd been pretty impressed with the Takara Computron, but I really like the idea of getting a Scrounge. The Smelting Pool was my favourite Transformers fiction for a long time after all, and still ranks right up there. Might have to see what any head upgrade pieces for Hasbro Computron end up looking like…
ca12nag3
I do not see that as a pro.
The Afterburner is orange, but the back of the windshield, its color and also the back of the seat are off colors. If he were orange with a stark white windshield hed be ok.
Scrounge is ugh. Too poison yellow for my taste, and to me it still looks like a lazy recolor of Cosmos.
As for the hands/feet. I am sure they are good but they are off when with the other combiners. So the HFG with TT are just good enough.

That is the best thing I have read about this. Hasbro made CW Betatron and Takara made UW Computron. Now everyone can be happy. Glad I pre-ordered UW Computron.
I would buy those feet and hands though. Too bad it will probably be difficult to get them without buying the set.

Pro and cons for both Hasbro and Takara's version. That Lightspeed – did they directly swipe it from Streetwise/Prowl? Because I see a light bar on top of the of the car……
Wow………
Hasbro's good, but if really want a Computron my money's on Takara's version.
