Transformers: More than Meets the Eye artist Alex Milne has just tweeted out a few designs for some characters who make an appearance in the latest issue, #51 – the second part of The Dying of the Light. As the issue has not been out for even a week at this point, we have chosen to obscure who these are in the interest of folks who haven’t yet read it. You can see both the designs and Alex’s details on them after the break, but do be warned that they are relatively significant spoilers for the issue.
On Drift:
“New Drift design. Thought he was showing up in season 3, but We got to use him and Ratchet sooner :D”
On Ratchet:
“New Ratchet Design. A combo of Prime Ratchet (my fav) and his original MTMTE design.”
And also on Twitter, a conversation between TFW member WilyMech and Mr. Milne revealed the reason for Drift’s new facial markings. It turns out they aren’t exclusive to Cityspeakers, and Drift’s are in fact to honor the fallen Dai Atlas.

the designs look pretty spiffy. I like Ratchet, definitely fits in well with his character and all prior incarnations. Drift on the other hand looks pretty different, he looks overly bulked up to what I was expecting. I always picture Drift to be more spry .

Awesome designs, love the Ratchet one more than Drift though, (I blame my preference for the RiD look on that one).

I like Drift's new look but I preferred his old feet. Also, let us have a moment of silence for Drift's fabulous thighs, they will be sorely missed,
My two favourite Ratchets have been combined to create the ULTIMATE RATCHET. So no complaints there the Combs is strong with this one.

Exactly my thinking. I will never not hear him now when reading MTMTE.
Spumoni Dingo
I feel like shoulder wheels are the new door wings.

There's no reason to not hear Jeffrey Combs's Prime Ratchet voice for MTMTE Ratchet now.
Seriously I love these designs. Toys when?

I'm on the fence about Drift… at a glance, I definitely like his old frame more. This one's weirdly bulky, and the colors/patterns make him a little harsh onthe eyes. I'm glad his facial markings are a Dai Atlas tribute, though. The alternative had me groaning. I'm sure it'll grow on me when he's doing more than just standing there and looking dramatic and feels like himself again.
Ratchet looks great. Hip canisters are a little weird, but recognized that chin instantly and I do love me some TFP Ratchet.

Damn those facial markings make Drift so dazzling, but it makes sense that he would honour Dai Atlas, as he and Wing were the reason why Drift opened his eyes.

Yeeeeeeah, that'd be great.
But finish Sins of the Wreckers first!
Gosh dang.
Murasame
I'd read that. Make Nick Roche write that.
Nick, if you're reading this. Write it
And then ask what they think of the idea. Then say you have something prepared. Put a gun on the desk while presenting.

Love these designs, as I said in the other thread about these.
Due to Drift's bond and connection to Dai Atlus, it'd be great if he was on a mission to avenge him, by putting an end to Star Saber. It'd be so fitting and ironic in the most awesome way.

Toys! Now! Pretty please.

Man, might have to get my first RID figure if the rumors of the warrior Strongarm into Ratchet are true. Looks like the new body would match up with that pretty well.
shamanking282
I'd also be happy with a Warrior figure of that new RID Ratchet design. Looks quite MTMTE already.
RIDRuination
Ratchet I'm cool with but God this Drift is such a step down. Super busy, bulky, & no longer the sexy thigh God.
Nemesis251
Nah, Ratchet needs a whole new figure with this design. Prime Ratchet too short.
optimusmegas
chest plate and head
shamanking282
Can we please get a chest plate add-on for Prime Ratchet?!
Nemesis251
I forgot. Star Saber, you bastard.
Mechafire
Remain in Light, killed by Star Saber.
