Couple of days ago we informed you that Hasbro will be visiting this year’s South By South West Music Film And Interactive Festival. And here we are, bringing you the coverage.
Speaking during a presentation about Virtual Reality (VR), Hasbro’s Senior Vice President (Digital Marketing) Victor Lee stated that a new VR experience is heading towards Hasbro’s customers. He hinted that not only their brands will get the Virtual Reality treatment but we may also see VR Stores to purchase products.
VR will change the way consumers interact with products — faster than in the past 20 years, according to Victor Lee. “We’re tapping that place in their brain that makes it feel possible. VR also will change retail, allowing consumers to shop from the comforts of home through a hologram or VR image”.
“Once it becomes more accessible, then it doesn’t become a fad,” said Mr. Lee. “And then comes truly the reality of anyone can do this. Then it’s a race of who does it best, who’s more creative, who tells the best story and who’s going crazy with it.”
Hasbro also showcased a giant Bumblebee (news post image) to promote the upcoming mobile game Transformers: Earth Wars by Backflip Studios and Space Ape Games. You can pre-register for the game, here. Bumblebee danced to the music from Hasbro/Sony’s upcoming album Transformers: Roll Out.
Stay tuned to TFW2005 for more info.

This is a very poetically disappointed post.
Why do you feel that way?

This announcement that Transformers is part of Monopoly seems fine, but the news post author comes off as dissapointed that Transformers is being included in a Monopoly game. The press release implied that Transformers was getting a whole game, but this seems fine on its own. Transformers getting its own game sounds like a very expensive tabletop game with Transformers represented in figurines and terrain that is built modularly. Transformers does not deserve that, at least with the original characters.
What kind of Transformers game was expected from the initial SXSW announcement?
What previous experiences motivate that expectation?

I read on Cracked.com (and maybe Wikipedia) that Monopoly was created as a satire of some financial system and is supposed to be stressful and frustrating to play by design. It seems like a strange decision every time I see this game.
Is Monopoly legitimate entertainment?

I'm a little curious at why this game is still culturally accepted. I mean I'm fine with it but due to all the shady business practices that happen on-game I'm surprised there hasn't been at least one angry mother starting a rally to take Monopoly off store shelves.

Much ado about nothing.

Boy, you said it.
WTF that has to do with TFs…I don't know. At least if they did a TF themed Monopoly (just puked a bit in my mouth, there) we could get some cool plastic tokens of the main characters…to kitbash for other games, of course.
Nothing to see here, obviously!

This is incredibly disappointing.

Kids see it and not have a clue what it's supposed to be. "That's not bumblebee!!" sigh haha
Autovolt 127
Bumblebee looks like a cross between Classics and WFC.
