Twitter user gadepon has tweeted scans from a Japanese hobby magazine showing TakaraTomy Titans Return prototypes. These are thought to be planned for release as part of their Transformers Legends line. Shown are Skullcruncher and Hardhead, note the new heads on both, with Hardhead having a full face rather than a faceplate!
Read on to check them out.

Hopefully, the releases aren't too far spread out (or crowded with other filler bots) for the Takara Legends line. Would love to complete the original Headmasters group within two years
Has there been any word as to whether these will be next after LG-20 Skids?

Guys, guys, no need to argue – there are TWO versions of the guy, so everybody wins!

I like how you tell me he has personality and you tell me he was fleshed out, but you can't actually tell me what his personality is. Hmmm. Suspicious.
Rakzo
He actually was more fleshed out after his Spotlight.
And even in the Spotlight he had more personality than in G1.
SouthtownKid
Really? What was Hardhead's personality in Spotlight? Oh, yeah, nothing.
People need to stop equating new with automatic "more personality". It's not always the case.
Rakzo
And ironically, "the IDW thing" had more personality than the "real character" (I assume you mean G1 here).
SouthtownKid
Oh yeah, I should have specified. I meant the real character, not the IDW thing.

Better scans of the new faces.

They look similar enough and definitely works as an update.

I like the Headrobots Hardhead. Its definitely more of a modern update rather than "G1-but-with-articulation", and once the head wasn't just beige Onslaught, it made a good Hardhead.
However, I'm all over the new one (Hasbro specifically. I'm pro-faceplate). I'll probably try to pick up Botcon Clench at some point to still have that mold in my collection somewhere.

This
It's at best an Hommage.
MatrixOfWumbo
I've seen the Onslaught before, in Vangelus' early reviews and possibly in stores. Can't say I saw the Hardhead though. I didn't have a Walmart that close to my house until around 2011. Even if I did I probably wouldn't have gone "Oh, that guy" upon seeing the Titans Return installment.
SouthtownKid
…except for not looking like Hardhead, I guess.
Rakzo
That's the reason why I put that Hardhead in my Wreckers collection, that shield screams for it.
That and the Headrobots update makes it the perfect version of the character.

On a completely unrelated note : your signature reminded me of my fear that TR Perceptor might be a Voyager
Otherwise: you think UK collectors got it bad ? Try collecting TF's on the mainland.
Offcourse now i'll getting a collector from Russia or someplace pitting that line to me. Serves me right
Autobot Burnout
Not that I don't doubt you, but…Hardhead got a Universe 2.0 repaint of Ultra class Onslaught with possibly one of the greatest paint apps of all time;

2 guns…hmm very nice.
MatrixOfWumbo
Also it's cool Hardhead has wrist swivels but the extra length put in the wrists to achieve it looks really odd. Skullcruncher's wrists are a lot more natural looking.
MatrixOfWumbo
Skullcruncher's head looks more like the one who was just in the IDW comics, so that's cool.
Hasbro wins easily on Hardhead though. I'd never even heard of Hardhead before NYCC last year, but that faceplate really won me over.
