“Transformers vs G.I. JOE #11
ESCAPE FROM PRIMUS! With Earth no more, the G.I. JOE team battles to make CYBERTRON their new home—but MEGATRON has something to say about that. Hint: it’s “no, I’m not going to let you do that.” Plus: the secret history of DUKE!”

This is the most proper crossover that's ever been done, edging out even the original. It takes the core concepts of both franchises — ALL versions, from cartoons to comics and even the 1990s Joe arcade game — the most seriously and with actual stakes in a world where everything has consequences and with zero status quo to snap back to. Both Earth and Cybertron are irrevocably changed by the invasion of each other's population, and evolve constantly throughout the series.
It's 1970s Kirby cosmic applied to action figures come to life, and it's the most interesting, imaginative, enjoyable TF comic I've read since Furman's UK run before he took over the US book.
And do I want to see IDW-continuity Transformers cross-over with IDW-continuity GI Joe? Hell no, not at all. Because the IDW Joe continuity sucks @$$. It started off okay, but got restarted and repurposed so many times in so many increasingly idiotic new directions that the entire thing is a FUBAR write-off. Thank goodness Hama is still writing an excellent Real American Hero series outside of IDW's continuity. But I don't want that book weighted down by Transformers.
Smasher
No. I've only read the previews here.
And I thought it would only be about 4 issues and then there might be plans for a proper crossover. It seems like this title has been going on for 5 years now.
At least this time I don't have to read how the coloring-book-level artwork is comparable to Jack The King Kirby.
SouthtownKid
And you really have no idea what you are talking about.
llamatron
hey I'll take this over robots trading "witty" zingers fresh out of tumblr and then everyone has a dance party.
Hot Shot.
Megatron ate a guy and started wearing Grimlock's head for no reason other than shock value. "Jotobots". Duke's shirt looks like a crumpled piece of paper, some of the bots have randomly bloated limbs, the bots all have dull surprise, and that drawing of Megatron in this preview is barely above Sonichu in quality.
"But you only read the previews!"
Previews are supposed to whet current readers' appetites and give potential readers an idea of what the book is like. I've heard nothing to contradict what I've seen, and the amount of disgust the book gets reinforces my initial reactions. It's clearly a love-it-or-hate-it book, and I'm not into a bunch of forced shock value, gore, and the maturity of a Hot Topic.
Sockie
No, what gave you that impression? The book's still carrying on.
Megastar
This is the best TF/Joe comic!
The Mad Demobot
Is this the end? Seems weird that it all ends and we start with a flashback.
Omegax80
It sounds like although you feel this way, you keep reading?
SouthtownKid
So you don't know what you're talking about.
Hot Shot.
I've never read more than a couple of previews, but I'm guessing it's the forced teenage edginess, the cringeworthy dialog, and the funnypages-tier art.
Fallout
i guess that a comic book he doesn't have to read is being printed?? i dunno.
Fast_Draw
Every two months is ground hog day in relation to the discussion about this comic.
I'm enjoying it and that's all that matters to me.
GoLion
What do you dislike about it?
SouthtownKid
I've read every TF/Joe crossover since the original hit the stands in 1986, and this one is far and away the best. In fact, it's easily my favorite TF comic published by IDW to date.
I hope you never get your wish.
Sockie
Most of them, although it's pretty clear Scioli does most of the heavy-lifting while Barber contributes maybe one or two ideas.
WoundSave
Is every issue written by Scioli AND Barber?
I haven't read this series, but I totally love how people either love it or despise it. I think I'm going to read it through trades eventually, but not until I get my hands on some psychedelics
HARD RAINBOW
Lt. Falcon!!!!!!
This frickin' comic is the most amazing thing ever!
Smasher
Total garbage.
I keep waiting for this to end so there can be a proper crossover but this is like having diarrhea that never goes away.
Necromaster
Have I mentioned that this comic is amazing?
