At long last it seems, we finally have a full, colored shot of Titans Return Brainstorm‘s robot mode art work! After a series of cropped and colorless images, z multiplier has posted the art work we’ve been waiting for. Titans Return Brainstorm is heavily influenced by his G1 incarnation as he’s beefier than his IDW counterpart and has some G1-accurate detailing on his wings and black parts here and there instead of just teal and grey.
Although he wasn’t shown on the show floor at this year’s New York Toy Fair, we can hope to see him revealed soon enough in the coming months. In the meantime, take the jump and check out this awesome image we’ve mirrored and stay tuned to TFW for upcoming Titans Return news!

I've always been a fan of the ongoing epic arcs–something I thought the later issues of the original G1 did pretty well (and to some extent the rest did ok), so maybe I would like Regeneration. But it was the "intentionally retro" covers you mentioned that interested me in the first place. I hate "it's good enough, just throw out some slop and they'll buy it" products. Which is probably why I have such varied tastes in the first place. I'm a TF fan, sure. But I don't just buy whatever. Too much other great stuff out there.

So Brainstorm is wave 3?
When does Titan Wars officially start anyway?

If you like Transfomers, I agree people should at least try MTMTE.
But then they can decide for themselves if they like it. It's not a given. It's not the second coming that the die-hards make it out to be.
Most Transformers comics. Eh, maybe. Better than most comics in general? Haha no. I don't know what — if any — "awards" MTMTE has won. But there are hundreds and hundreds of better comics out there. It's good for what it is. That's about the most it can legitimately claim. That's enough to make it worth looking at, but let's not go crazy overboard here.

Start with issue one of RiD then read MTMTE. Then you will need to read RiD again for the Dark Cybertron crossover as the story is told in both comics. But you will be completely lost as to what has been happening in RiD, so read that too from the beginning. Its what IDW intended readers to be doing.
ReGeneration One is poor. It throws out traditional 80s Marvel storytelling in which each issue had a self-contained story in favour of three or four threads being told simultaneously in the same issue of varying amounts. The phrase "written for the trade" definitely applies to ReGeneration One. It won't be so bad now that all the issues have been released, but it was frustrating buying each new issue as it was released; like trying to watch a movie but only being able to watch ten minutes further into the movie once a month. Made worse by the slow pace and some pointless scenes – some characters / events have barely made any progress over the cause of four issues. The artwork also leaves much to be desired. "Intentionally retro" doesn't mean the same thing as "don't bother showing any effort", but that's what we got here. In comparison, the retro covers look amazing to me, and should be the quality of art we got in the actual comic.
Yes, but he only made a cameo in Five Faces of Darkness. He was among the other new Mini-Bots from 1986 defending the Ark unsuccessfully from Trypticon.

1. Pretty self contained. I picked up the book without knowing who a lot of the characters were (was Swerve even in the G1 cartoon?) and I was fine. They make some references to past events in IDW, but they're just as often events being brought up for the first time as they are callbacks for Old readers. The War in IDW lasted a long, long, time.
2. Start at the first trade for MtMtE, it contains the "Death of Optimus Prime" oneshot that starts off both current ongoings. Alternatively, you could try the last (seventh?) Volume of the previous ongoing (just called The Transformers) "Chaos." There are a few issues written by MtMtE writer James Roberts that add a lot of flavor going into his series.
3.I've heard Meh. The art looks pretty good though. All Hail was the first entry into IDW continuity without Simon Furman at the wheel, and the transition was kinda rough.
4. If you liked G2 you oughta like Regeneration One. Personally I don't like any of Furman's attempts to "finish" Marvel G1 continuity but I wasn't there for its heyday so I'm not the best person to ask.

Speaking of, as someone who kind of dropped out of the Transformers comics–not the toys mind–after the Pat Lee era (eons ago I know), I've been thinking of giving it another go. Is MTMTE a self-contained story you don't really need a lot of modern backlog to enjoy? Which issue (or arc) would be the best to jump on? Was All Hail Megatron good or meh? And how is ReGeneration? I own and love (some out of nostalgia alone) the entire G1 original run and most of G2. That's the history I have to draw on and remember. A lot of these new designs to me are cool and all, but I have no connection or history with them. While that hasn't necessarily stopped me from buying, they just haven't been 'must haves' for this reason. Maybe it's time for that to change.

If you like Transformers a little you "have" to read MTME, it's not just a good Transformers comic, it's an award winning comic. The writing is heads and shoulders better than most books.
Feel free to ignore almost everything else except Wreckers books. There's still a lot bogus Transformers comics but MTME is fantastic.
That said, I like this version of Brainstorm better too. The other one, while MTME inspired looked way to grand for the character. Although he'd probably look okay next to Springer and Blitzwing…. But that's it. I also thought the previous one made zero sacrifices for the robot mode….making the jet look like not so great to me.

So all these artwork shots and no confirmation of how they'll be used? Are we getting full front flaps now, or just the side artwork (or top like combiner wars)? It would be a shame for such nice art to get like one inch of space.

Highbrow is happening, according to Matrix Holder. Weirdwolf is also happening.

Seeing Skullcruncher, Mindwipe, and Brainstorm are out, it kind of (well SHOULD be) a given the rest of the original Headmasters will make an appearance too.
Starscream 91
Oh at this point Hasbro would be too stupid not to release Highbrow & Weirdwolf.
Hotshotprime43
So will Highbrow happen? I would say even though Highbrow my least favorite (maybe i don't care that much I guess) of the 4 headmasters if they do make a toy of him I will buy all 4 of these easily! If not then I still probably buy these guys but feel incomplete.
The Kup
I'll probably get this 'cause I never picked up the voyager one.
It looks awesome too!
Buzzetta
I am basing this on the artwork as I may change my mind once I see the finished product. I actually prefer the Thrilling 30 Voyager version over this newest incarnation. As I said though, I may change my mind.
Autovolt 127
That's his shtick, it's that or be a dead mentor/leader.
That SDCC pic has him in retail colours unfortunately.
I need the version with that sword.
CybertronianFan
A little too well. At times to the point of saturation.
Cal
I didn't even think of that! I'm not interested in a new Brainstorm toy, but I would totally buy a Triggerhappy retool.
Starscream 91
Hasbro does really well with their retools and I like this guy, only because its not inspired by the IDW comics which I don't read. Of course the voyager is amazing so hopefully this tops it.
Zenstrive
I suppose we don't yet have transformation video of this and Blurr? I am expecting a very simple transformation where the backpack just close the head, the hands got covered by the arm kibbles, and the legs swing behind and the crotch is covered by the shield.
