In the midst of today’s deluge of Transformers info and images, zmultiplier on Weibo has once more supplied us with a few full artwork pieces for an upcoming Transformers toy – this time, it’s Titans Return Astrotrain!
Done up in his original G1 toy color scheme, Astrotrain is, as expected, a redeco of Titans Return Voyager Sentinel Prime with a new Titan Master head and flipped-around feet. These two images show him off in both a robot mode action pose and with his head descending down onto his body.
Check them out after the break, and keep your eyes on TFW all this weekend as we update you with the latest Toy Fair 2016 news.

I think HasTak are getting a little outta hand with all these repaints. it's insulting and and it makes my purchases from them all the more easier. all these cw figs are so ridiculously cheap looking/feeling except titans, and few others. and even they are repaints of one another but devastator……for now.

Ugh, wrong colours
TacticalBacon
A shame he wasn't shown today, but oh well.

Oh my God yes!!!
All aboard the Hype Train for Astrotrain!!!

I'm so happy my favorite transformer is getting made!
I don't really care about the headmaster/titanmaster part just as long as it represents Astrotrain.
Gilgamesh
The futuristic altmodes are no problem to me. They look similar to a lot of the cybertron line, but cooler. IMO the other headmasters get away with bein more g1ish because they were futuristic already; becoming and old timey locomotive would be a harder sell now, and the shuttle is okay.
I kinda like the armored futuristic battleship train anyway, it looks powerful.
I admit I would have preferred cartoon colors but hasbro generally goes for toy accuracy so it's to be expected. Plus I'm too lazy and impatient to wait for Takara's inevitable gray one.
Archon Shiva
Nah, I'm with you on that. I always assumed he looked different because of lighting conditions or something.
The one thing I'm really hoping for is that he can vaguely pass for an earth train (requiring a bit of a retool, if only the feet), but to be fair he'll spend his time either in robot or shuttle mode anyway – I just like knowing that he can turn into a train.

Chooshuttle! He is the head of a choo-choo and shuttle, after all!

What should Astrotrain's head be called?

I feel like the weird one in the bunch for not being all up in arms over the colors. I guess it's because me and my brothers had the figure back in in ye olde days, watched the cartoon, and read the comic book so colors not matching up was just a part of life.
MatrixOfWumbo
Probably just a moon. There isn't even any foreshadowing of Unicron in IDW yet.
hendrijr
Ok I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but in the top left corner of that action pose pic-is that one of cybertrons moons or is it…IDW Unicron??
Dinobot Snarl
I've been on the fence, and now I know why, in Space ship mode his arms seem to just hang by his side…instead of collasping inward. I do not like that…It happens a lot.
MatrixOfWumbo
He has three modes, but the one I care about isn't worth owning the figure for. As a robot he looks just like Astrotrain, and if I had no intentions of ever transforming him it woukd be one thing, but the reason I would want an Astrotrain toy is because he turns into a train.
MatrixOfWumbo
^You want to make Generations even more slavish to G1, on top of mountains of homages and barely any representations of other series?

It's scary…. that I love Astrotrain as much as I do.
On a different topic: I really wish Hasbro did a RETRO TF logo. It makes no sense that they're using "Titan Returns" as their title (yeah, I get it – comic tie in) when they could bank so much money on a retro-style send up of this line. RETRO SELLS. That's pure fact. And there are ways to bring newbies into the retro fold (look at how many kids are wearing Ghostbuster/etc. shirts, when they were literally born years after the original product's debut – "retro chic" ).
It's a shame Hasbro is still chasing children with these "collector" toys. A lot of other companies have acknowledged and made $$$ on the adult market, but Hasbro continues to treat us like pedo's they're ashamed to court. It's getting irritating. The toy line needs a retro face. And for that matter, it wouldn't hurt if Hasbro tried to promote TF collecting a little (among adults): "Hey! Remember the 80s? The good old days of Optimus Prime versus Megatron? Well, check this out…" And then you do a celeb prominently displaying a few pieces (a la collector). Stuff like that to work on the mainstream subconscious and bring some of this into the forefront. I'm not saying it would work perfectly, but these sort of ad campaigns work toward life style shifts, and TF collecting is pure consumerism, so it's not like it goes against the grain. Well, except for the piss-poor economy tightening wallets closed, that is. Meh.
But I'm reminded of coffee campaigns to promote coffee after the 60s crash, or how Listerine spread fear and anxiety to sell floor cleaner for your mouth! Long-term ads to drive future demand!

I'll need the dark grey and purple color scheme to replace my Classics Deluxe Astrotrain.
BidoofdudeofOz
Takara it is then, no sweet dark grey on Hasbro's. (unless the photos are playing tricks on me and he's actually silver, which upon closer inspection could happen )
