TFNation have announced the next guest for their 2016 convention. Joining TFNation for its inaugural show is the one and only Simon Furman!
Simon Furman is someone who needs little introduction to the Transformers fandom. One of the great contributors, Simon is responsible for writing and codifying the Primus and Unicron story that underpins much of the wider Transformers mythos. He created the concept of there being 13 original creations of Primus, and the Liege Maximo in particular. His writing has seen him contribute scripts for comics and story arcs to Marvel, Marvel UK, Dreamwave, and IDW. And that’s not even getting into his work beyond Transformers!
Simon Furman will be joining Richard Newman (Beast Wars Rhinox), Paul Eiding (Generation 1 Perceptor) and artists Guido Guidi, Kei Zama, John-Paul Bove, and Emiliano Santalucia as a guest at TFNation 2016, which is taking place over the weekend of 19 – 21 August, 2016, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, England. Check out the TFNation homepage for more infomation!

Let Furman have his own set of characters and write a third ongoing series.

For better or worse I would be oddly curious to see how Furman's writing would contrast against the current Idw writers. If he ever was to come back to IDW I would like to see him replace barber. For me barber has had years of chances to make rid/new ongoing into something more interesting and repeatedly has left me feeling disappointed after reading each and every issue.
Bless him, he is likely one of life's good guys and has even put effort into switching up the settings and dropped those tedious monologues from season 1 but sadly still he can't seem to make issues or story arcs that are anything other than mediocre. His God of continuity mantle I have seen him given by members here on the comic forms confuses me as I can't think of a single story arc that he has been responsible for that has demonstrated any kind of complexity or sophistication and compared to the levels complexity shown in comics like elegant chaos arc of mtmte his work seems Un-ambitious. I probably sound like I'm being a little unfair and overly negative and maybe I will concede that there could be some slight truth in that but if you are given the brilliant and charismatic Sky Lynx to include in your comics and you still can't make a fun comic it's probably time to give someone else a go.
Even though she sadly botched the ending of the Windblade mini, it had some really positive elements, the diologue was lively, she made cybertron seem an interesting setting again and wrote characters like Starscream brilliantly. I personally think if she was given a longer mini or an ongoing she could write something quite promising as it would give her writing more of a chance to breath and develop at a less forced pace.
I like some things Firman has brought to the franchise like his marvel UK run and the positive world building in Idw like the infiltration protocol and verity being cool but he has sadly missed the mark as much as he has hit it things like spotlight Arcee and regeneration1 rubbing the fandom up the wrong way for very good reasons.

Yeah, Scott's work has been mainly mediocre but I feel like thanks to Tumblr etc she scorched the earth for Furman coming back.

Wish he would be back in IDW, I really, REALLY miss his sense of worldbuilding.
As an editor he could give a pretty solid direction to the whole line.

This.
Its unfortunate because I've enjoyed some of Scott's stories, but I can't say I'd really want her to be in charge of an ongoing. Her stories range from "alright" to "meh." The reason I'm so skeptical of her is due to how bad her first impression was (whinging about Furman's choice with Arcee.) Even though she apologized, she's still said things that I don't agree with and believe she's wrong about, but the same can be said about Barber or Roberts too.

Let him take over for Barber, Not RID definitely needs a new direction

Would be nice if he had another run in the IDW-verse. A mini series or something at least.
Hell it couldn't be worse than Mairghread Scott who's yet to do anything eyebrow raising anyway.
