Thanks to a thread on Baidu, a Google-like community, we have our first look at MP-28 Hot Rod’s packaging! It seems Hot Rod isn’t too fair off from release as more and more news has been popping up and fans over in Asia have been getting their hands on him. Hopefully the same goes for Shockwave, who was revealed at the same toy show as MP-28. Hot Rod’s packaging is your standard horizontal box with a shot of both his robot mode and alt mode on the front. In addition to the packaging shot, another user in the thread snapped a pic of Roddy’s underside in alt mode where you can see the usual arms, legs, and rather exposed head.
MP-28 Hot Rod 2.0 is priced at $74.99 USD and is slated for release during the first quarter of this year. He’s up for pre-order via our site sponsors, so check out the pics after the jump and if you haven’t already, be sure to place your pre-orders!

Also, we're comparing a piece of art to an actual released toy.
If there's anything that the recent fiasco with DX9's Gabriel has taught me, it's don't count your chickens until they've arrived from the (water-soaked) factory.

I have MP-28. I'll probably get Hoodlum if reviews are good. I like that car mode. MP-28 (and-09) look smooshed to me.
YMMV, yada yada yada.

Put way , way in the back burner . Just like there acoustic wave , once Takara gets to it first , FT’s goes a different direction . As well they should because there hoodlum was far from good looking.

Yes because koot is awesome

I'll be getting Hoodlum without a doubt. FT always improves the aesthetics of their early prototypes.
RVeaks1973
Still plan on getting him for the rest of my hotrod/rodimus transformers
Sammael
That Hoodlum looks awful in alt mode compared to both official releases.

When will this be released

Mines rolls perfectly, everything lines up correctly if properly transformed. The only problem I have with the one I own is the back pack not tabbing in securely, it tabs, just not solid tight. His chrome has yet to fade, and I keep all mines in a toy chest.
Tman978
Awesome!

Nice work by @songrobin

Mine rolled ok, but I also got the reprolabels (it was 1cent at the time). Not the best solution, but it's the only one I can give.

You should totally go for hoodlum! Just look at that gorgeous alt mode, which only rivals the marvels of engineering that are sovereign and their beautiful springer:

Gotta say, FT are experts when it comes to amazingly looking alt modes.
Also, this entire post should be in blue.

An updated prototype photo was teased a couple weeks ago along with FT Rogue (Arcee) but no actual street date yet.

Any word on when Hoodlum will be released? I'm still deciding on getting MP-40 or hoodlum.

Yup – it's the most common QC issue with this figure: MP-28 QC Issues Thread
Scowly Prowl
Huh. Mine rolls. Just barely, but there you have it. Had no idea this was an issue.
BWfan86
No luck with either of the above…
Hmm, I will try this – need to track some down. Did the stickers from toyhax for the tires work?
ChromeMagnus
Exactly. If something with wheels can't roll freely and easily then it defeats the purpose. FT Hoodlum will show how it's done.
