Knew It! Knew It! Knew It!
That design is so creepy it's making me arachnophobic….sweet.

I feel you on the height thing. I'm generally fascinated by heights or being up high… but only if there is a barrier of at least thigh-height. Without that, I can't hack it.
Once, I was on the roof of a 10-story building, and I really wanted to look off the side and take in the view of the neighbourhood from there, but every time I got close to the edge, I just had this insane feeling like I was just going to be swept right off the ledge. I couldn't approach.
Finally, stubbornly, I crawled forward on my stomach to look over the edge, but even then it felt as if my head was so heavy that just looking over the side would somehow pull my whole body over. Totally a bizarre, psycho-somatic experience, where something in your brain is overriding your intellectual self-control.
Mind you, probably not a bad impulse. Phobias like that, and spiders, are probably just jacked-up versions of basic primitive human survival programming.

You mean your Claw Jaw?

So who else from beast wars is going to show up in IDW this year? I'm personally hoping for an excuse for them to do all of the season one characters.
Ra88
Phobias are a thing, yo. They're not rational. They're just your brain responding with insane fear to a pre-existing thing. It happens.
WilyMech
Awesome
Acteon
Great design for Tarantulas. Having just watched Beast Wars through again, his reappearance is quite timely for me
That spider-mode is horrible. In a good way…
QLRformer
I'm not a big fan of Tarantulas, but I'm enjoying seeing him screw with Prowl.
Murasame
That's not the same thing at all. I even keep a cool head in situations where I think an injury or death might be possible, but I'm a sissy when it comes to heights or spiders. Those are my only real fears, albeit stupid ones.
SMOG
I think that a basic discomfort and RECOIL instinct in the presence of spiders is probably hardwired into our DNA. Chimps do it too. It's likely some evolutionary trait that sits in the recesses of our dinosaur brains, reminding us not to touch poisonous things.
I don't have any clinically-defined phobia of creepy-crawlies, but they can still trigger some involuntary shivers in me.

Man this looks awesome. Pumped.

So anyone else think Hubcap is the protoform in the lab?

First Bombshell, now Tarantulas. Prowl has terrible luck with anthropods.
On one hand, this writing is amazing. I am worried what Tarantulas has planned for Prowl himself and I don't even know the character.
On the other hand, what's being said is really at odds with Prowl's characterization from combiner wars. Don't get me wrong., I prefer Roche's Prowl but it's very jarring for me.
I could believe in theory that having Optimus Prime tell you you're too dangerous to live would cause most Autobots to question their life choices, but… Prowl is already known on multiple planets as an Autobot gone wrong. He was out of Control and showed no remorse. Showing that, if it's true, is kind of important… Or, if it's not true, show that too.
Also does anyone know when this flashback would take place? Prowl was SIC fairly early on in the war, I think?

YES

Is it weird that I can deal with blood, guts and all sorts of horrific depictions in media, but even I'm a bit ooged out by spiders.
scrapmetaru
Holy shit. Buffulas!
I really hope this isn't just a book about all the most obscure G1 characters beating up the not-G1-enoughs.
ZeroBG82
I have no problem with spiders, but you do know that those are totally not the same thing, right? Fear of spiders in no way suggests a fear of blood or gore.
I've seen people who are amazing, brave folks, who professionally run into burning buildings and rescue people, not to mention dealing with the aftermath of violent crime, seriously lose their shit over even animated spiders. Different people have different fears and react to them in different ways.
Fallout
oh my favorite eight legged fucker. organic transmetal design is perfect.
if a drawing of a spider triggers you, how do you deal with violent comics that depict war, blood, etc?…

Toy it, Hasbro. Toy it!

Roadbuster's not the one constantly plugged into networks of data like Tarantulas talks about, though–Hubcap is. Plus, there's him not being affected by the Noisemaze in this same preview…
It's becoming more and more obvious that Hubcap's not exactly on the up and up.
