For those fans planning a trip to Louisville, Kentucky this year, BotCon registration is now open. Register for your package today and start planning out your convention trip!
As a reminder, the box set this year features a Combiner Wars theme with the combined form of Predacus being the centerpiece of the exclusive toys.
More details regarding packages, exclusives, Golden Tickets, and more, after the jump.
As a reminder about some package details: If you register as a Primus package holder, you will receive not just the 5 figure boxed set, but also a FREE additional Deluxe figure. We are excited to announce that this figure utilizes the Combiner Wars tooling and also features a NEW head sculpt that does not appear on any other souvenirs.
Also, the CLASS KIT (and Assembled Class Kit) features an alternative head sculpt that is not available at retail. You can add an Assembled Class Kit when you register.
Finally, per the BotCon brochure, this year’s Golden Ticket features a surprise bonus! That item is in fact an alternate version of one of the Legends Class souvenir items.
Thanks for your support and see you in Louisville!

I recall them saying something similar last year, "warning" us that their at-show items are expected to sell out fast due to reducing the product numbers… and still none sold out.
It may or may not happen this year, but regardless of what the items are and how popular they end up being, the recommended thing has always been to get them on the Thursday if you want them, just in case… making the warning from FunPub rather redundant.

You could always pick up the Primus Package and sell the box set and freebie to cover some of the expenses, that way you'll have a better shot at the Megatron souvenir. Otherwise try and find a Golden Ticket attendee on here and see if they'd pick up a Megatron for you at cost plus a little extra for the help.
G.B. Blackrock
That is indeed correct. Basically, if you go GA, you're taking chances that figures will have sold out before you can get to them. Might be fine, but it's a risk.
UPDATE: This bit from BotCon's Twitter account highlights the risk

If you go with General Admission you can't go until Saturday I think.

I've never been to BotCon but my Fiance and I are considering going this year.
Is it worth getting the expensive tickets that they sell online or just going with General Admission? I'm not interested in the Box Set, but I am interested in this potential Megatron. What's my best route?

The custom classes start at 8am, and Botcon will post a full event schedule before the show so you won't need your attendee package to know what's going on.
Also if you have a Thursday class and will be in the area/at the hotel on Wednesday night you can pick your attendee package up early without having attended your custom class yet.

This is my first year doing the custom class. Since normally you can't even pick up your package until Thursday night, how do I find out what time to show up for the custom class that morning? I obviously won't have a package at that point to tell me. Do they email people in the custom class special instructions ahead of time or what?
G.B. Blackrock
You can pick up your package on Friday, no problem. In fact, you'll almost certainly find your line considerably shorter than if you'd done so on Thursday. There will be a table set up, probably just outside the dealer room, and it should start processing late registration pick-ups even before the dealer room opens.

My previously-stated disdain for surprises notwithstanding, I'd be perfectly fine with this. Knowing the identity of the freebie would make little difference to my planning, so why not keep it a secret?

This will be my first botcon so I apologize if this has been answered, but i keep reading that box set package pickup is thursday. What about for people like me who can't make it to botcon till friday? how would that pickup work? anything different I should know or do?
Grimlockimus
I agree about the freebie remaining a surprise. It's a free extra that is fun for the attendees to find the identity of when they pick up their box sets and that's great. The class figure I have some issues with since whether you go to the class or buy a pre-assembled one it's an upfront payment without knowing the identity of the toy.
Insane Galvatron
Maybe keep the customizing class figure and attendee freebie a secret then? Just reveal the at show purchasable stuff ahead of time.
griffin-of-oz
Not everything, as I still want some mystery and pay-off for going to all the effort of attending. Just not so much that it frustrates people and obviously hurts their own sales/profitability with no benefit to them.
Insane Galvatron
This may be the last year we deal with this stuff. If someone else runs the convention after this, hopefully they'll tell us everything.

Because most years I'm buying on behalf of 20-30 other Australians, which could blow out to 50 if I took money in advance and then I'd still need each person to decide in 24 hours which ones they want.
Then I'd have the hassle of working out what is left for each person and spend an hour or so doing 30 odd paypal transfers of the unused money.
And the other factor in play is if people send me $300 in advance and I can't get enough because they sell out, those people might need that money to get one from ebay before the price goes too high.
G.B. Blackrock
Rather than an elaborate defense, I'll come right out and say it.
No, I don't like surprises. ESPECIALLY when it comes to exclusive toys I'll be spending tons of money on. I want to be able to plan carefully.
Grimlockimus
Well you could always just have them pick up an souvenirs for you on Friday or the general admission weekend. By then there should be enough time between the initial reveals on Wednesday night, and price reveal on Thursday to figure out what you'd want, how much you'd need to send, and have enough time to get in contact with one another to arrange it. Only problem I could see is if something sells out before then.
And while I may not mind the souvenirs being a surprise this year since I know I'll be attending I don't exactly get why they need to be surprises. If anything it'd be more advantageous for them to do something similar to the box set reveals last year and show off the souvenirs one by one before the show and make an event out of it. It'd get more people talking about the convention and it's exclusives and who knows, maybe they have some exclusives that would be a deciding point on whether someone attends or not. But that's just my view on it I suppose.

Instant communication doesn't mean immediate communication. Sure, if I know a friend is heading towards the shop I can keep an eye out but if I'm on the road, at work, or otherwise indisposed I may not see his message.
I don't get how product information is considered a "spoiler". And I'm familiar enough with Paypal to know it's not fun/easy to stick funds in "just in case" and then pull them out if things fall through.
flux convoy
Why not? Its not like Paypal is Limbo. It can always be returned if it isn't used. Not to discount the rest of your post but it's not anything I really brought up. I'm not grasping why people who expect favors can't do you the favor of making sure you're funded for what they want beforehand. We live in an age of instant information. Once we discover what the souvenirs are, shoot em a text or message. Done, easy. Seems like a needless hassle any other way, really.
