Via Barnes and Noble, we have details of a new Young Readers book from Little Brown Books. This book is set in the current Robots in Disguise cartoon series, and is titled “The Trials of Optimus Prime”. It sounds like it is loosely based on the episode Out of Focus, with two interconnected plot threads – one featuring Bumblebee hunting down dangerous escaped Decepticons, and one featuring Optimus Prime training in the realm of the Primes – with the cover depicting Optimus and his tutor Micronus.
However, the description also teases a major character from the Transformers mythos who has yet to show up in the cartoon (or any animated show, for that matter) who may well be a figure appearing in the show’s second season. It’s not yet clear if this is a second-season spoiler, or if this character has been created specially for this book – time will tell.
The book is set for a release on 5 January, 2016 – a scant week from now. Check out the description of what is in store in this book after the break – but beware, possible spoilers lie ahead.

Wild Eevee
Sorry no pics of Liege Maximo, but there is a full page illustration in the very back of Bee Strongarm and Sideswipe and Sides kinda looks like he making an obscene gesture.

These books have interesting / cute plots. I'm curious about how Liege Maximo comes back, and if its possible he could appear in Season 2 of RiD.

Liege Maximo….It'd be awesome if he's the final boss for the show.
though knowing this series, he'll just job.
misternewuzer
Any pictures of Liege Maximo in that book you bought?
Wild Eevee
This is already out.I just bought a copy from Books A Million today. In Fairview Park Ohio if anyone is curious.

1) Yeah, um, Optimus has been involved with the plot for quite a while. Where've you been?
2) This is for a book tie-in, not the show itself. Which means having a book about Optimus does not necessarily mean more Optimus in the show.
SPLIT LIP
Prime has been part of RID's story for ages now.

He isn't becoming the leader again. Bumblebee's still the leader.
In Battlegrounds, Part 2, Optimus says this:

I thought RID was more about Bumblebee and the Autobots? How does Prime fit into this? Is this Hasbro's way of shoehorning the most popular character, despite earlier premise of Prime-less Autobots?
I just get tired of seeing the mythos spinning in circles. It's like watching Spider-man fight Doc Ock for the billionth time – I get it, he's a popular character. But when the show is doing badly (i.e. incoming cancellation), does it make so much sense to put more Prime into it? Well, if they're just appealing to the hardcore Prime fans, why not make the show more G1 and be done with it?
At least the book's villain seems original. I can only hope he appears for a blink of an eye before getting overlaid with SS or Megatron. Cause, y'know, it HAS to be about Megatron. Or SS.
Spin-Out
If he looks like Loki, I'll go nuts. I am a GOD, you dull creature, and I will NOT be bullied by-AGH
PredaconElder
So that means a Liege Maximo toy at least. Will we see Jhiaxus?
Purple Heart
Leige Maximo? Awwwwww yeah.
Sumner Sturgeon
Huh. That's interesting, as we perhaps looking at the final villain for Season 2?
