Comics Alliance has posted a full length preview for IDW’s Transformers VS G.I. Joe issue #10. The ongoing crossover of Hasbro’s two big 80s boy’s properties continues in its eclectic fashion with Destro’s banquet – and Megatron bringing a special meal of his own. WARNING – this preview has a gruesome scene that is not for the faint of heart! Check it out attached to this post!

Totally correct, yes, pardon my misclassification. I suppose it's not fair to call it "Anything" Age, really – Kirby kinda transcends that, on an art level, at least, even if the impulse is to think of him as Silver Age. And the other major artistic influences on the book span the Silver to Modern Ages – but artistically, this really stopped being a straight Kirby-riff *ages* ago.
SouthtownKid
Nitpick: people keep saying Silver Age. But you mean Bronze Age. All of Kirby's self-created cosmic work… New Gods…Eternals…Devil Dinosaur…Captain Victory, etc… was all created in 1970 and after, starting from the point when he left Marvel the first time.
Bronze Age. It's important because the Kirby of the 1970s and 1980s was a completely different cat than the Kirby from the 1960s.

Oh yeah, there's a real "ancient and unearthly" vibe going on. We've already seen the book do the "Chariots of the Gods" bit with Destro last issue – the idea that Cybertronian influence on Earth in ages past has brought about a present where the line between earthling and alien, mortal and god, and "man and cyberman" (to quote the comic directly) is growing more and more indistinct. I think that's really the book's high concept, just wrapped in retro Silver Age stylings – but of course, the whole "ancient aliens as gods"/"humanity being raised up to meet them in the middle" thing was Jack Kirby's jam.
Fallout
the cybertronians of this series are very old fashioned in their talk and mannerisms, yeah? blaster is very much like his marvel self, hot rod's name was rodimus imhotep, etc….
ryan.j
Oh i dunno, it *is* pretty groundbreaking – with all that Skidmark over Megatron's face that might just be the first cybertronian dirty sanchez.

Whatever.
It still sucks.
Haywired
Just when you think this series can't be any weirder it goes even more crazy.
Good.
More.

This series has been pushing the fusion of Cybertronian and Earthlings pretty heavily, with Destro making himself an immortal cyborg using Cybertronian tech, and the Decepticon "growing" artificial people. It's one of the book's big themes. The idea of Megatron consuming human flesh just seems like a gruesome continuation of that – an "eating the heart of your enemy" type of thing, an action very in-keeping for the "barbarian god-king" Megatron of this series.

this series has no connection to the main IDW universe. it's in its own pocket universe so there's no ore 13.

I have not been reading this comic (Or any in the past two years, due to a job loss and no money for comics), but from the preview and also considering the beginning of the IDW Transformers universe when the Decepticons were mining and processing Ore-13, there seemed to be a human part of the equation.
With Earth being rich in Ore-13, it would make sense that it is also in all of the creatures that inhabit the planet with Humans being no exception to the rule.
Could it be that the Decepticons have managed to alter themselves to a point where they can now extract Ore-13 directly from Humans. This now means that they can eat humans much like organic earth animals eat. This also means that they may defecate as well, so will we be seeing Cybertronian toilets soon, or do they have a much more efficient waste disposal system installed in themselves. Maybe it is disintegrated and used for fuel, or even recycled, ala Star Trek Food replicator style, to feed the remaining humans. Soilent Green for the new human farm. There are many ways this can go.
As for gore, this does not have much, mainly off screen and the aftermath shot. G2 was the Transformers Gore comic, but all Bots, so it was safe for publication.

well then here's the issue with that…..if negative comments aren't allowed and it's nothing but love fests you don't get true opinions or criticism. while i agree the same people that complain about mtmte and the same people that go into every cw reveal bitching about new members gets tiresome. the 3p people that feel the need to cut down official releases and the geewunners that throw a hissy fit when it's not block 1984 style really run down and derail a thread….but unfortunately blanketly silencing those that seem to just bitch and whine and hate and offer nothing will lead to those with legitimate problems and criticism….as far as this comic goes i personally have commented on issue 1….issue 5 (the one that i bought last before dropping the series) and now this issue so i'm not just coming in every preview to rip into this book. as i said my intention was to see if anything had changed to change my opinion of the book and to me it hasn't but i don't like being told i just shouldn't post if i don't like it. especially when there's a few members i can name off the top of my head that i swear don't like anything and post negatively so often i question why they're a fan to begin with.
fact is we can't just start banning people from certain topics…hell i'm sure alot of you have plenty of topics you should stay away from and don't anyway so don't throw stones in glass houses. honestly any form of feedback can be beneficial…it's the same reason i don't block anyone here you never know when you're going to find out something you never knew or get an idea or whatever that just sounds good.
i feel it's rather obvious who the trolls are that are just making a stupid comment and who the people with criticism and legitimate gripes are. can't just start handing out "no post" cards to people just because they think this comic is a poorly drawn annoying to follow mess that is a great example of why the silver age was awful.
GoLion
Not a bad post. I tend to agree that people are allowed negative opinions. But when it becomes repetitive and just seems to be negative for the sake of being negative it gets tedious having to read the opinion.
When does self-policing happen and you think to yourself that you just shouldn't go into a thread if it's something you don't like?

Metroplex looks AMAZING.
I haven't read more than the first issue of this comic (I don't know the GI Joe characters well enough) but I am definitely getting this issue with that cover.
optimusmegas
So you're implying there's something wrong with him because he doesn't like the book?
From what I can tell this book has just as many that enjoy it then those that don't.
Art is also subjective….work or art to some is trash to others and vice versa. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into the book. He does just about everything and thats great…..but I still think the story is a mess that's rushed at points and drags with no discernable end at others. The story seems very incoherent and has alot of moments for the sake of moments happening….seriously what impact will come of eating skidmark? I'd wager a guess human eating doesn't happen again or is even brought up.
When the book started I thought the style was interesting. The faded look meant to represent an old comic the silver age style was kinda neat….but the more i read the more this book reminded me why I hate the silver age. The art quickly lost my interest and at times is just bad and ugly.
It doesn't make me a lesser person for not liking it. I do check the previews and comment as I do wish it was better. Thats my opinion….comment police be damned
GoLion
Exactly. I love Scioli's work.
This comic is meant to invoke that old school vibe. It's meant to be insane.
I love this book, It doesn't make sense at times, it's downright silly at times, but dammit that's what comics are. I'll take this any day of the week especially with what's going on over on MTMTE.
And did someone write something about suckling a teat and tears? I hope those are eye tears and you haven't confused a "teat" with something else. That's the most gruesome post I've ever read. Ya might want to choose your words more carefully because the picture you paint is… uh… yea…
Meat Popsicle?
ZacWilliam
You don't like it. Check. That hppens. Doesn't make your opinion fact or the book less a work of art.
ZacWilliam, says more about you than the quality of the widely praised book.
Fast_Draw
Looking forward to this on Wednesday. I can't believe it's been over 2 month since #9.
bellpeppers
Whatever. It sucks.
Raiju
So are humans now considered a source of energon? 'Cause Megatron totally just ate that dude. A dude name Skidmark.
And Torch blowing chunks everywhere. Roadblock adding way too many Cajun spices in his cooking again.
ZacWilliam
This doesn't NEED that excuse because it's wonderfully crafted specifically to evoke this primitive rough retro style.
-ZacWilliam, the amount of work Scioli does handling all the art duties solo on each page specifically to get this look is super impressive if you follow his process posts on Twitter.
