A couple weeks ago we got our first look at a new Minicon-related gimmick in the RID 2015 called the Minicon Battle Pack. Today we have our first sighting of Wave 1 at US retail! This wave consists of two two-packs which in themselves are Optimus Prime vs. Minicon Decepticon Bludgeon and Sideswipe vs. Minicon Decepticon Anvil, and has been spotted at a Toys R Us in Michigan. Along with being two-packs, the Minicon Battle Packs also contain some translucent orange armor pieces that can either attach to Optimus and Sideswipe, or combine into a giant weapon for the Autobots!
Keep your eyes open for these at your local retail and happy hunting, TFW!

Anyone know if there going to do a set with a Decepticon fig, and an Autobot Mini-con? I have Optimus, and I love the Armor, and articulation for the size, but he needs a better adversary.

Power Core Combiners, Human Alliance, Generations Legends, and the Data Discs were all similarly-scaled 2-packs that went for $10…… but they never went anywhere. The rest of the lines would move thru their stocks more or less smoothly, but these "cheap" 2-packs always end up stuck on Wave 1 for months on end.
Adding $5 to the price and using characters that already have a dozen other toys probably isn't going to help matters…

These sets cost 23 EUR here. Standard European pricing (up to double US retail price for the very same figure), something we got used to already and it is always hilarious to read the angry Us comments about high prices. The world of 10 USD deluxes, 20 USD voyagers is long gone.

This statement has now been proven enitrely wrong since the latest in hand images prove that this is a bigger size class than the legends class. So you add a minicon, and extra weapons and yeah 15$ is more than fair.

I just saw these in person a few hours ago. Definitely bigger than Prime Cyberverse and Generations Legends. Definitely the same size or very close to the old scout size. They look like a lot of fun but the color choices are questionable for Optimus. Black biceps and thighs instead of grey? Not a dealbreaker but disappointing. The Minicons didn't look all that appealing. If I could get the main figure and armor for $10 sans Minicon I would be content.

Cool golden armor, it gives Optimus and Sideswipe a "Yusha Braves" feel.
But how did a MiniCon get slapped with the name of the most metal Decepticon ever? And is Anvil going to be hit with a hammer or something?

Can you post some pics and/or review? I am curious about the size point on these. I love the recent Cyberverse Commander and/or CW Legends size and articulation so these look intriguing to me.

Says who? I see this no different than anyone saying that deluxes should be 10$. Wake up people.
Anyways, a minicon cost 5$ these days right? A legends tf costs 10$, right? So…15$ plus you get bonus weapons. I fail to see how this is a totally crazy price and not in line with anything that has come out this past year.

Just snagged these two at at my local tru in MD. They're both really nice. I feel like the mixture of size classes that mix with minicons is too inconsistent IMO though.

Still pretty bummed they decided to break the theme of armored mini-cons. If these sets had armor for SS/Op AND the minis, I'd be all over them. As it stands, I don't know if I want "naked" mini-cons on the shelf with all of their decorated brothers.

Love that Prime. I find it cool that a commander size toy comes with weapons and armor.

Just out of curiosity, are these about Scout or Generations Commander sized?
The prices go up, such is life, but does the quality hold up? The new Minicons come with weapons on plastic sprues, and to be honest, I personally don't like that (except G1 missiles or Kabaya kits). There's something cheap & unfinished about using them, especially in what is supposed to be a finished product. It's like Hasbro is saying, "Aah, put it together yous-self, I aint doin it! ".
At least these don't have them.

I think he means because the minicon is worth.more then a micromaster PLUS there is translucent weapons added
Plus inflation. For about 15 years I watched the price stay right around the same but in the last 5 years it'd gone up a dollar or two every year. Ugh but its life

I haven't heard anyone GUSH about the weapons-that-attach, so while you debate the point of "more stuff, more price!" I argue that giving crap additions to inflate the price is absolute BULLSH*T.
Prices ARE going up. And while these little weapons are a cute gimmick, if you have ever collected GI Joe's, you're gonna realize they really aren't adding as much "value" as you seem to perceive.
No, this is like a Legends + minicon set, which a year or two ago cost $9.99 – adding clear weapons is not the equivalent of a +$5 value! Especially when these are essentially MORE Sideswipes and Optimi (don't we already have some 3-4 variants each? And that's not even counting 1-steps and 3-steps and Titans. ). I just wish Hasbro would do more RID villains or obscure characters that get no love. I don't know if I can justify owning so many versions of these two, when the warrior class alone gives me enough variants.

I dont find the comparison to the scout and target master 2 packs fair when looking at the price point since this set gives you more. Along with the minicon, you get added armour which itself can be combined to make a weapon. There is more offered in this set than in last year's two packs so I understand if they arent the same price.

According to the picture on the front of the package, the orange pretties attach to optimus. More choking hazards for me, great. I'm still passing the minicon weapons through my colon

so you come in the thread telling a guy trying to help you not to talk to him and then say you don't like him. class act dude, help yourself next time or get off your high horse. no need to be a dick for some past tiff when you refused to look through a 3 page thread for an easy answer and when someone helped you you blow them off. smh.

I'm curious as to their retail price. Bbts wants $15 a pop for them. If they're legends size, they should only be $10 like the commander class with the micromaster. I need to get the microns…
