During the past few weeks there was a lot of talk about Transformers: Robots In Disguise and Transformers: Rescue Bots. But there’s one show which didn’t get the needed attention.
At the moment good progress seems to have been made to make Transformers: Combiner Wars a reality. Last week, Mr. Eric S. Calderon tweeted that he had a 7.5 hours of story discussion with their Japanese Director after flying to Japan.
“7.5 hour story meeting with our Japanese Director on #transformers #combinerwars! Actually fun! @FJDesanto. We need ya @GeorgeKrstic!!!”
Of course, Mr. George Krstic himself tweeted what is likely the cover page of the 1st Episode Script.
The cover displays the writing credits where Mr. F. J. Desanto is also included.
Meanwhile, Hasbro was kind enough to send them all 9 boxes of Combiner Wars toys. We hope to hear more from the upcoming series targeted towards teens and adult fans of the Transformers Franchise. We wish the creative team, all the very best.
Check out the images, after the jump.

I'm not worried about loosing head/titan masters and am looking forward to these guys. My one worry is that Hasbor will screw things up with tolerance issues…. Two cases: you try putting a head master on a body;
1) "oh no! the head is too loose in the socket and falls out if i breathe on it!"
2) "oh no! the head is too tight and won't go in the body! maybe if i push a little harder…. OH NO! now it's stuck and i broke the headmaster getting it out! now no head on the 'master and a head trapped in the body! 2 toys ruined at once!!!!"
They are advertising the head-swap angle of this, so they WANT you to do it. They had the same thing with Armada mini-cons, but it wasn't a huge issue if one minicon from a 3pack didn't stay on a deluxe or larger figure's port. Loose/tight headmasters i can see being a BIG issue….

It's not even important anymore. If a kid loses a head for one of these guys now, Hasbro has it so they can buy TWO equally cool replacement heads for next to nothing. So go nuts, kids.
What I'm complaining about is people here who don't like or want the Headmaster gimmick and don't want ANYONE to have it, and try to convince us how bad it is because "what if we lose the head?!!" which I say is a disingenuous argument to use here. I say no one here is going to lose any head, because no one here is a hyper-spastic 4 year-old.

It's not so much the older fans I'm worrying about losing Headmaster parts, it's the kids who buy MOST of the toys. I lost a shitload of TF pieces when I was a kid and I STILL can't find 'em. It is a lot easier for us older fans to keep track of pieces (especially since the old Headmasters AND the Titans Return ones have it so you can store the HMs in the vehicle mode), but kids? Not really.

Right?
By now I would have figured that they would be animating.
So maybe the strategy is for the toys to be an advertisement fot the show

Dude, eat a Snickers.

Tell me about it.

agreed….I mean they missed a good opportunity to flesh out the new combiner limbs like Alpha Bravo, Rook and Offroad.
That'd be funny and sad at the same time.
i'm amazed they took so long. They might as well make this Titan Returns instead.
It was, and it was my first GI Joe series.

Not really sure sepuku is wisest choice of action when losing a head of a toy…
WishfulThinking
Wasn't Sigma Six the first real "GIJoe meets anime"? Sure, it wasn't Ghost in the Shell level quality…but it was made by Gonzo and had several anime tropes throughout.

For the love of Primus, when is the last time ANYONE here lost a Headmaster or any other accessory?!! I am sick to death hearing naysayers say Headmasters are useless if you lose the head. If you lose a head at the age you are now, you may as well just give up on life, because it's going to be much too hard for you. Lose a head?!! Either you are lying to us, or you're being dishonest with yourself. You aren't going to lose any effing heads.
And even if you somehow did manage to lose a head, because you got blackout drunk or your cat ate it or the Headmaster Fairy stole it from under your pillow while you slept, Hasbro is selling a wide variety of new heads you can swap out for super-cheap. So quit making these lame excuses.

Why not ask HAsbro to sell replacement parts? They do that for board games and Elmo toys, so seems easy enough. Plus, they're selling head-sets/vehicle combos, giving you extra heads. In addition, we're not 7 yrs old anymore, and those of us with 7 yr olds still know how to watch for lost heads or weapons. I can imagine a ton of toy accessories getting tossed in the garbage or vacuumed up by a thoughtless caretaker/maid… but times have changed, haven't they? (Plus, I really don't see the HM toys taking off with the mainstream, as none of the current TF toy lines really have, so it's a bit moot to talk about clueless adults or kids losing pieces). A lot of TF purchases are inspired by older TF purchases (or purchasers), so it makes sense to bring back a toy concept like HM.
HMs are a good thing!!!! No nay-saying.
And agree with the bunch of you who say this cartoon may be released too late for it to matter to toy sales… which, we've been told is the sole purpose of a cartoon… BUT WHAT IF… WHAT IF THIS CARTOON COULD BE GOOD IRRESPECTIVE OF TOY AISLES?!?

Static images with only mouths moving?
That would be awersome!

WHAT story?! Characters getting randomly killed cuz… badass?

This thing's going to turn out like that Prime Universe game — games, isn't it? Stuck in development hell missing all the boats it could possibly get on…

i understand that its all about timing.
and that there are other shows I guess aimed at a younger audience. I tried watching rescue bots when it started, it gave me migraines. I'll geek out on gobots any day over that shit.
I saw quite a few episodes of "rid" , I like the blue colors, windblade or is it wing I forget, Jazz etc, pretty cool, not up on the whole story yet.
What I dont get….why doesnt hasbro just make it happen?
they have video games, comics, toys, of all our old characters?
why no cartoon/anime?
am I missing something?
Digilaut
Ok, so they practically haven't started yet. They have a script to episode one and I guess an outline for the entire show?
Great.

If they are not going to use Transformers: Devastation 's graphics and models, there is no use to even start creating this show. Waste of screen pixels.
TheUltraMagnus
Combiner wars will be off the shelves by the time the series airs, however…. however, if its popular it will go on and will give birth to many more toylines.
DOTM Bumblebee
It's a Transformers series, of course I'm gonna give it a chance. If Devastation is supposed to be an example of what the quality of the series will be like, I think we're in store for something good. One does have to wonder if non-combining characters like Megatron, Ultra Magnus, and the Seekers, or franchise staples like Grimlock, Ratchet, and Bumblebee will turn up. Since Windblade's destined to appear, I wouldn't count them out.
Underwear
Well said bro.

Renegades had a better story and characters IMO (I might be biased since Marty Isenberg was a showrunner after what he did with TFA, though), AND we still got Charlie Adler as Cobra Commander. It's the first incarnation of Joe I really cared about, so OF COURSE it got canned. Anime-influencing does help a show out at times (Animated was influenced by Gainax, for example) and I still have a pipe dream of working for Hasbro and being a showrunner on an anime-influenced TF series (with writing on par with TFA or BW, of course), but Resolute kinda tried too hard. Resolute still didn't overdo it as much as AHM and Costa's run on the TF ongoing did, though.
But still, if they manage to pull off a nice balance of dark elements and light elements like MTMTE does, then Machinima might finally end up being the third truly great Transformers show. (the first two chronologically being BW and TFA, of course)
